Han Wenwen gave a soft hum of acknowledgment. Seeing the two of them sitting together stirred an indescribable pang of jealousy in her heart, but she tried her best to act as if nothing had happened.

At that moment, the Little Fox was wearing a lovely light-red sweater paired with a classic pleated skirt. It wasn’t quite cold enough yet for fleece-lined sheer tights, but as winter approached, she would likely add a pair to this exact outfit.

Truthfully, Lin Zhengran felt that girls’ outfits all looked somewhat similar, even if a change in some inconspicuous little detail meant it was an entirely new piece of clothing.

Xiao Heqing peeked at Lin Zhengran through the gaps between her fingers.

Lin Zhengran looked back at her. His gaze seemed to say, "I’ll find a chance for us to be alone next time so you can kiss me again."

Xiao Heqing’s face flushed even redder, but she giggled secretly and nodded.

Naturally, their silent exchange didn’t escape someone as sensitive as Han Wenwen. At best, she could only pretend not to notice, letting the jealousy continue to brew in her heart as she walked over to check the kettle.

"The water’s boiled?" she asked. Spotting the three self-heating hot pots, she added, "By the way, why did you two just open the packaging and leave them here?"

Han Wenwen found a few cups and sat down beside Xiao Heqing. She poured hot water into the cups first, then added cold water to the heating bases of the hot pots.

It was only then that Xiao Heqing realized she had been holding her bladder for quite a while. The atmosphere earlier had made her completely forget about it.

"I’m going to use the restroom," she said.

Han Wenwen nodded. "Take your time. It’ll take another five minutes for the hot pots to heat up anyway."

Xiao Heqing nodded without overthinking it and went into the bathroom. Before closing the door, she cast a few shy glances back at Lin Zhengran, then hurriedly locked it to relieve herself.

However, because the soundproofing in the rental apartment wasn’t great, both girls were always careful to control their noise in the bathroom. Otherwise, any loud sounds would be heard clearly outside, which would be incredibly embarrassing. But it was precisely this cautious pacing that gave Xiao Heqing an excuse to take her time, leaving Han Wenwen and Lin Zhengran alone together.

The moment Xiao Heqing stepped into the bathroom, the Little Fox’s neutral, almost smiling expression vanished instantly.

After finishing pouring the water, she let out an angry huff. Her facade crumbled entirely, revealing a deeply jealous expression as she turned her head away, refusing to acknowledge Lin Zhengran.

Her hiding in the bathroom earlier had indeed been a deliberate move to give the two of them time to reconcile. But at the same time, it had only allowed the jealousy from seeing Lin Zhengran’s intimacy with Jiang Xueli—and now with He Qing—to fester and build up even more.

"So, Zhengran has finished coaxing Qingqing? And you’re done with your date with Lili, too?"

Hearing the drastic shift in her tone, Lin Zhengran marveled at how this fox was easily the most jealous out of the three girls. "Yeah. Are you jealous again?"

Han Wenwen turned back to look at him, her expression aggrieved. "What do you think? Seeing you being all affectionate with Lili on the street was bad enough, but when we got home, I even had to deliberately hide in the bathroom and take my sweet time changing clothes just so you and Qingqing could make up! How could I not be jealous? I feel terrible."

Leaning against the edge of the bed, Lin Zhengran held out his arms. "Come here."

Han Wenwen pouted. She tilted her head up and gave a soft huff, seemingly still unwilling to engage with him. Yet, afraid that he might withdraw his embrace, she quickly scrambled into his arms. She hugged his waist tightly and buried her face against his chest, acting as affectionate and clingy as she possibly could.

In a small voice, she mumbled, "Aren’t you going to pat my head?"

"I know, I know. You really are a fox," he chuckled.

As long as Lin Zhengran stroked this fox’s "fur," Han Wenwen’s mood would unconsciously improve. Today, however, she was simply too consumed by jealousy. Even as she basked in the feeling of him stroking her head and hair, her expression struggled to fully relax.

"How was your time out with Lili today, Zhengran? Did you have fun? What did you guys do?"

Recalling the day’s events, Lin Zhengran answered honestly, "Of course I had fun. I’m always happy when I go on dates with you girls. As for what we did, we just watched two movies, that’s all."

"Two movies?" Her clever mind grew curious as to why they would watch two, since sitting through movies could be quite an exhausting activity. Sitting in one spot for that long left the body stiff. But she quickly realized that "watching movies" probably wasn’t the only thing they had done.

She looked up at him. "Why two movies? I bet your mind wasn’t actually on the screen while they were playing, was it, Zhengran?"

Lin Zhengran looked down, meeting the fox’s gaze. "You’re genuinely overthinking it this time. Lili and I were really just watching movies. The only reason we watched two was because she apparently didn’t sleep much last night, so she spent the entire first movie catching up on her sleep."

"And the second one?"

"For the second one, I figured she’d be well-rested enough to actually watch it, especially since that was the movie we originally wanted to see. But she ended up falling asleep again. So, while it looked like we were out on a date all morning, she was actually just sleeping the majority of the time."

Han Wenwen blinked her beautiful, bewitching eyes in a daze. She seemed skeptical; it sounded a bit far-fetched. "You’re lying, Zhengran! How could anyone sleep through two consecutive movies? This was a date! Would Lili really be that careless?"

Lin Zhengran chuckled. "I don’t know the answer to that either, but she really did sleep through both. Oh, right, aren’t you good at sniffing things out? Why don’t you take a whiff and see for yourself? After all, she spent an unusually long time leaning against me during those two movies."

"Good point. Let me take a sniff and see if you’re lying, Zhengran."

Han Wenwen placed her hands on Lin Zhengran’s shoulders. Her little fox nose twitched, as if some ancient bloodline had awakened within her, and she began to meticulously inspect every inch of him.
