Chapter 175: Chapter 150: Pure Childhood Sweethearts (4)

"Yeah, that is what I said before."

That was then, and this is now. Before, Wang was the one calling the shots at the studio. Now, the boss is Lin Zhengran himself. As long as he wishes it, Lin Zhengran will naturally give Jiang Xueli all the resources a music company can offer.

Besides, Jiang Jingshi’s team is involved now. With the right resources, her female singers are far more skilled than the average person. We’ll select the most outstanding ones from all the singers, have them personally coached by Lin Zhengran, and they’ll definitely be able to form a top-tier girl group with Jiang Xueli.

Lin Zhengran handed the phone back to Jiang Xueli:

"We were just laying the groundwork before. Now that the foundation is set, it’s time to get on stage. We’ll form a group, release a new song, record a music video... we’ll go through the whole process. I’m guessing that in less than half a year, you’ll be a massive star. You’ll even be able to hold your own concerts then."

Jiang Xueli didn’t trust just anyone, but she had always trusted Lin Zhengran’s word.

"Concerts..."

Seeing the immense confidence he had in her reflected in his eyes, she felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. A concert was something every singer dreamed of. "I can hold a concert? But so far, I’ve only participated in one small-town competition..."

"That’s enough. Honestly, with the right resources, you could have gotten famous with your old skill level, let alone now. Just believe in yourself. And if you really can’t believe in yourself, then believe in me."

Jiang Xueli pressed her lips together, her eyes fixed on Lin Zhengran.

Three steaming baskets of soup dumplings arrived.

Lin Zhengran picked up his chopsticks. "Let’s eat first."

Jiang Xueli murmured her agreement, also picking up her chopsticks and popping a soup dumpling into her mouth to chew.

Lin Zhengran looked at her hair and asked curiously, "By the way, you should probably get a haircut, right? Isn’t your hair getting a little too long?"

Jiang Xueli looked down and saw that her pigtails reached her butt even when she was sitting. She smoothed them down with her hand.

"It is getting a little long. Well, I’ll see if I’m busy today. If not, I’ll find a salon tonight and get it trimmed."

Lin Zhengran dipped a soup dumpling in chili oil. "I’ll go with you tonight."

Jiang Xueli gave Lin Zhengran a surprised look, then dipped her own soup dumpling into the same dish of chili oil. "Okay..." she said shyly.

After she spoke, Lin Zhengran dipped another soup dumpling in the chili oil and popped it into his mouth.

Jiang Xueli suddenly chuckled. "You eat so fast. Can’t you slow down? It’s making me anxious just watching you."

Lin Zhengran replied, "It’s fine, isn’t it? Haven’t I always been like this since we were kids?"

Jiang Xueli sighed. "You’re right. You’ve been like this since we were kids, always eating so fast. I’ve told you there’s no benefit to eating quickly, but you never listen. It’s a bad habit you just can’t seem to break."

Lin Zhengran reached for a napkin to wipe his mouth, but Jiang Xueli had already instinctively pulled out a couple of tissues and handed them to him.

Jiang Xueli asked, "But are the beef-filled ones really that good? You’ve been eating them for years."

"Haven’t you been eating the pork-filled ones for just as long?"

"That’s why I don’t get what’s so good about the beef ones. They feel a little tough to chew." After saying this, she picked up a beef-filled soup dumpling from in front of Lin Zhengran and put it in her mouth. After tasting it, she declared matter-of-factly, "Yep. Still just as tough. Not good."

Watching her eat the soup dumpling, her cheeks puffed out, Lin Zhengran was inexplicably reminded of their elementary school days when they ate together every day. This girl was the same back then, always stealing his food.

At this thought, Lin Zhengran also reached over and picked up one of the pork-filled soup dumplings from in front of Jiang Xueli to try.

His verdict: "See? When it comes to soup dumplings, beef is still the best."

Jiang Xueli scoffed, unconvinced. "What does a big idiot like you know about soup dumplings! Pork is obviously the best."

In reality, the person who knew Lin Zhengran best was Jiang Xueli, and likewise, the person who knew Jiang Xueli best was Lin Zhengran.

The only difference was that Lin Zhengran would occasionally realize this, whereas Jiang Xueli never paid any mind to such things. She didn’t notice that she spent her days bickering with him, that they had been together constantly since the day they met, never once separated—the purest of childhood friends.
