<SystemError> was some total nobody alliance that mass-migrated over from another server and started beating the absolute shit out of <47> the second they got here, so everyone was losing their minds wondering wtf was going on

a few <SystemError> members showed up and most of them said they just did what they were told and had no clue why

but apparently the #1 ranked Mechanic got a hidden quest and THAT’S why the Mechanics are attacking <47> right now?? (and the alliance members just did it cause the higher-ups told them to smash them??)

I used to be in <Peak>; we got hit exactly like that too and rebuilding was fucking hell. everyone spent a shitload trying to defend, still got wiped, and ragequit the game. fuck

There were far more than one or two comments saying their own alliances had fallen apart in the same way.

Most of them, however, were blaming <47>.

There are a lot of people saying <47> deserves this.

The farther Yeonhoo scrolled, the more the comments turned into variations of of course <47> is getting attacked and serves them right, until he found himself getting irrationally annoyed.

What the hell are they talking about? Server X is where people go specifically to raid each other! They should’ve been better at raiding back. Seriously.

Slightly missing the point, he was fuming and nearly started arguing in the comments himself when a reply near the very bottom startled him.

heard there’s a lot of bullshit going around the forums so I’m posting this

people keep saying <47> is finally paying off its karma because we’ve always acted like assholes, but stop talking out of your ass

the people currently attacking <47> are the Mechanic coalition (currently <SystemError>, formerly <VITA>)

through trusted sources + cross-checking with other users, we figured out a little while ago what the Mechanic coalition is after

Yeonhoo paused halfway through rereading the post when he reached the phrase through trusted sources.

Somehow, he had a pretty good idea who that source was....

their #1 ranked Mechanic HHH got a hidden quest, so yeah that part’s true

they’ve been going server to server popping alliance cores to get the materials for a hidden class advancement

why are they specifically breaking cores? because the Mechanic hidden-quest material randomly drops from them lol and the item is different depending on what the core looks like lol

problem is they only have one last material left and apparently that’s our <47> core? there’s a time limit so they can’t wait any longer, that’s why they came at us with an all-out assault

don’t know the exact details of the class advancement but it looks like if rank #1 clears the quest it affects the other Mechanics too

THAT’S why the Mechanics are attacking us, so quit saying bullshit like <47> had it coming

After reading the entire post, Yeonhoo’s mouth hung open at how neatly everything had suddenly fallen into place.

At the same time, though, something else surprised him.

I’ve never seen Jadu talk like that before....

ShinJadu was always so nice when speaking inside the alliance that the tone felt strangely unfamiliar.

I don’t know exactly how it all happened, but I guess Kwon Mieon finally found the answer.

Apparently, while Yeonhoo had been away from the game, Kwon had safely made it to L4 and uncovered that much.

And right around then, <SystemError>—or rather, <VITA>—had made their move.

Still, this is huge.

If the theory in the post was true, it also explained why VITA had gone to such lengths to plant spies everywhere and why they had been so relentlessly fixated on <47>.

The words hidden class advancement alone were enough to make any gamer sit up and pay attention.

Anyway, I’m glad Kwon managed to figure it out safely....

He had gone through all kinds of trouble trying to uncover the truth.

So Yeonhoo really was relieved.

And yet, rather than feeling satisfied that the puzzle had finally been solved....

He’s been playing the game this damn hard the whole time?

It rubbed him the wrong way.

After throwing that whole fit about how I don’t belong with his cousin?

The corner of Yeonhoo’s mouth twitched.

And it’s not like he was the only one who suffered through all that. I went through it with him. He figures everything out and doesn’t even send me one message?

He immediately checked the call room Kwon was in.

The name Miu sat there prominently among the participants.

On impulse, Yeonhoo joined the room.

Ding.

—Watch the left. The tower we took down is going back up. Someone ping the coordinates for me.

Kwon’s voice reached him the instant he entered.

—GoodLuck, change the inner-wall thickness again and reposition the buildings.

His calm voice showed no trace of agitation, cutting straight to the important points.

Listening to him, Yeonhoo suddenly found himself wondering what was happening inside the alliance territory and pulled up the game screen.

<47> was definitely outnumbered, but experience and skill weren’t things you could ignore.

Every one of its members had strong builds, for one thing.

More importantly, they weren’t simply changing the terrain and construction materials to reinforce their defenses—they were also constantly rotating the alliance members’ positions so the enemy could never get used to their formation.

...He really is good.

And Kwon was firing his gun in the middle of all that, too.

Watching him play so seriously, Yeonhoo felt his anger strangely begin to fade.

I mean, after insisting I’m not 0momo0, it’d be pretty ridiculous for me to bring up something that happened in <47>....

Still, he felt hurt.

Of course Kwon had no obligation to tell him anything, and the situation between them was complicated.

More than anything, the last time they’d seen each other, they had both lost their tempers before parting ways.

By now, the version of Yeonhoo who had stormed into the call room huffing and puffing felt like someone from a previous life.

He had already gone quiet and dejected as he listened.

Then Kwon abruptly trailed off.

After a brief silence, he asked—

For the first time, emotion entered the voice that had delivered every briefing in the same flat, steady tone.
