Immortal after a Hundred Reincarnations
Chapter 475: Encountering Guan Yun Again
“You’re an Innate Powerhouse? And you’ve cultivated a special Body Technique?” Xu Lei said, slightly surprised.
He really didn’t want to use his Magical Power.
He had inherited his Cultivation at birth, but not a shred of his Magical Power remained. He could only restore it little by little through Cultivation, and he was still far from Perfection. After accumulating Magical Power for over ten years, he hadn’t even recovered one-twentieth of it.
Now, he only had about ten years’ worth left.
Xu Lei wasn’t yet an adult and was all alone in a world plunged into chaos. Thus, he truly didn’t want to waste any Magical Power.
However, in a situation like this, he had no choice but to fight back.
So, Xu Lei could only put away his pistol. He formed a Dharma Seal and activated the Lotus Drill, sending it flying. With a sudden, whistling attack, it shot forward—SHLICK!—and drilled right through his target.
The bully was utterly astonished. Xu Lei figured he must have practiced some kind of Ancient Immortal Martial Arts, one specializing in Body Techniques. It explained his ethereal movements—almost like the Ripple Light Step—which had allowed him to dodge bullets earlier.
But now, the Lotus Drill had pierced straight through the man’s chest!
He wasn’t a Grandmaster, so a pierced chest was a fatal wound.
That’s right. He could dodge bullets, but he couldn’t escape Xu Lei’s lethal Lotus Drill.
Because Xu Lei was a Bodhisattva Realm Cultivator, the power of his Lotus Drill was far greater than that of a bullet.
It was just that Xu Lei had completely exhausted his Magical Power reserves in the Celestial Palace during his past life. In this life, he had only been cultivating for a little over ten years, and his recovery was slow. That amount of time was nowhere near enough to restore much of it.
That was why he couldn’t face a Martial Saint. If his Magical Power reserves reached Perfection, he might stand a chance. However, Martial Saints of the Ancient Immortal Martial Arts path recovered quickly and would only die if their heads were destroyed, which was indeed a huge advantage.
Therefore, Xu Lei knew he had to retreat for now. ‘I still have to take up Ancient Immortal Martial Arts in the future,’ he resolved. ‘Trying to dominate this era relying solely on the Magical Power from Cultivation is unrealistic.’
‘Even if I, the Saint Master, recovered my Magical Power and could kill a Martial Saint, what would be the point? After killing one, my own Magical Power would be almost depleted.’
“Impossible!” In his final moments, the bully stared in disbelief at the gaping, bloody hole in his chest. He then looked up at Xu Lei, unable to comprehend how someone with no background in Martial Arts could possess such destructive power.
With his strength and mastery of his Cultivation Technique, he could have fought even an ordinary Grandmaster. Yet now, Xu Lei had killed him in an instant!
‘Another two years’ worth of Magical Power, gone just like that.’ Xu Lei couldn’t be bothered with the man. With a sigh and a flick of his hand, he recalled the Magical Artifact.
At that moment, the bully collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Not long after Xu Lei departed,
another group of Martial Artists swarmed the area. They moved with incredible speed, like a pack of wolves, heading straight for the bully’s location.
They seemed to be there to capture the bully.
They were shocked to find the bully dead.
After failing to find what they were looking for on his body, they made some inquiries and turned their attention to capturing Xu Lei.
The group consisted of over a hundred Martial Artists, led by a Grandmaster and including numerous Innate Powerhouses.
The crowd swarmed toward Xu Lei, leaping several meters with each bound at incredible speeds.
Seeing this, Xu Lei had no choice but to use his Magical Power again. He stepped onto the Lotus Treasure Fragments and shot up into the night sky, flying away to escape.
“How is that possible? What just happened?”
“Where’d that little refugee go?”
“How did he get away so fast?”
The group of Martial Artists was left staring at one another in utter confusion.
“Impossible. Where did he go? I’m a Grandmaster! How could he move so fast that I couldn’t even see his shadow?” the elderly leader said, stunned. “Are you saying he just flew away? That’s impossible. Only Martial Saints can fly; a Grandmaster can barely manage to hover for a moment. How could that little refugee be a Martial Saint? In the whole world, His Majesty is the only Martial Saint.”
After flying a safe distance away, Xu Lei landed and frowned slightly. ‘There goes almost another year’s worth of Magical Power.’
「Three days later.」
Xu Lei had blended into a new group of refugees and arrived at a small city in the north where snow was falling.
Just as Xu Lei was wondering how he would settle down in the city,
he suddenly saw a figure inside a medical clinic that felt incredibly familiar—a woman in white with a graceful build. He instinctively drew closer, peering in from the doorway.
“Doctor Yun, quick, save my brother!” a man shouted, rushing into the clinic while carrying a blood-soaked youth on his back.
“Let me see.” The woman in white came forward to treat the patient.
“Bodhisattva Guan Yun?” The moment Xu Lei saw her, his pupils constricted. He was stunned. ‘It’s her! How can it be such a coincidence? After an entire era has passed, we meet again in a crowd of strangers?’
That’s right, Xu Lei had recognized her. It was Bodhisattva Guan Yun!
After all, back in the previous era of Cultivation, before his Ascension, Xu Lei had met Bodhisattva Guan Yun on numerous occasions. After ascending, he had even been reincarnated in the Celestial Palace multiple times. He was so familiar with her figure and voice that he recognized her in an instant.
He saw that Bodhisattva Guan Yun was wearing a mask that covered half of her face. Faint, hideous scars were visible on the skin just beneath its edge.
He didn’t know if it was a disguise—perhaps to avoid being coveted for her beauty by Ancient Martial and Immortal Powerhouses—or if she had truly been scarred in the explosion at the Celestial Palace.
But aside from that, the visible part of her face was fair with delicate features, and her soft lips were quite alluring.
‘Bodhisattva Guan Yun’s attack power, when channeled through her Magical Power, should be even greater than mine. A Martial Saint might even be injured by one of her full-powered strikes. However, her Magical Power probably hasn’t recovered from the Celestial Palace explosion, either.’
‘Looks like she was indeed severely injured in the explosion back then and hasn’t been able to quickly reach her peak again in this new era. For now, she can only survive by posing as a doctor here in the Mortal World.’
Watching Bodhisattva Guan Yun, Xu Lei wondered again, ‘But I wonder if she has also started cultivating Ancient Immortal Martial Arts? Surely she isn’t like me, with absolutely no Immortal Martial Talent… right?’
