Immortal Ascension Through Marriage: Investing in My Wife Get Returns
Chapter 421 - 420: The Eternal Calamity Demon Lord, Sovereign of the Abyss
Perhaps the heavens had not abandoned the Nine Provinces after all.
He had assumed that the answer would come in the form of an overwhelmingly powerful cultivator, someone capable of confronting the strongest demons through strength alone. Instead, the person who might provide the greatest opportunity for survival was standing quietly beside the very man he had expected to become the world’s champion.
The Emperor could not be certain what role Bai Qingyue would play in the coming battle. Fortune did not guarantee victory, and even the Yunqi Realm could not erase the difference between a mortal cultivator and a Demon Emperor.
Nevertheless, her existence offered a possibility that Tianxu had not previously considered, and at a time when every other path appeared to be closing, even a possibility was worth preserving.
He looked from Bai Qingyue to Lin Yuan, then back toward the sky.
As long as she remained alive, and as long as the fortune surrounding her continued to resonate with the Nine Provinces, the surviving forces might still possess a chance to alter their fate. It was not a guarantee of salvation, but it was enough to prevent Tianxu from surrendering completely to despair.
Far beyond the ruined Grand Court, beyond the bleeding spatial rift and the boundaries that had once separated the dimensions, the Hollow Beyond remained engulfed in a storm of dark purple energy. Its vast expanse was filled with twisted landscapes, poisonous oceans, and enormous formations of jagged black rock.
The ambient chaos of the abyss surged endlessly across the horizon, yet the area surrounding a colossal black plateau had fallen into an unnatural stillness.
The reason for that stillness was the being hovering at the center of the plateau.
Gu Cangming, the Eternal Calamity Demon Lord, remained suspended several feet above the jagged surface. His black robes seemed woven from the deepest darkness of the void, and the ancient markings covering his arms pulsed with a slow, rhythmic light.
Each pulse carried the terrifying authority of a Middle Stage Body Integration cultivator, forcing the surrounding chaos to withdraw as though the environment itself recognized his superiority.
The power radiating from his body was far beyond that of an ordinary Demon Lord. Even those among the demonic race who had reached Peak Void Refinement would have struggled to endure the pressure surrounding him, and the difference was not merely a matter of accumulated spiritual Qi.
Gu Cangming’s existence had undergone a fundamental transformation, allowing him to exert authority over the surrounding laws with a degree of control that ordinary cultivators could not imitate.
Hovering to his left was a vast blue sphere that seemed almost insignificant compared with the space surrounding it. Yet the sphere contained the compressed Great Sea Realm, an entire oceanic dimension reduced to the size of a large boulder. Its surface churned with swirling currents, and traces of Water Origin flickered within its depths, revealing the immense quantity of energy trapped inside.
The compression had not erased the Great Sea Realm’s internal structure. Instead, its oceans, islands, and hidden spatial regions had been forced into an extraordinarily dense form, preserving their foundational laws within a volume that should never have been able to contain them.
The sphere’s surface occasionally rippled, and each ripple produced a faint fluctuation that spread across the plateau before being suppressed by Gu Cangming’s presence.
Hovering to his right was the captured core of the Exotic Realm. It appeared as a fractured cube of shifting light, its edges constantly changing as the remaining spatial laws attempted to preserve their original arrangement. Although the Dao Fishes had dispersed after the collapse of the dimension, Gu Cangming had retained the foundational core that had once helped sustain their existence.
The cube was far smaller than the dimension it represented, but its conceptual density remained extraordinary. Within its fractured surfaces, traces of the Exotic Realm’s ancient spatial compression laws continued to circulate, forming a complex structure that Gu Cangming could study and eventually refine. The destruction of the dimension had not deprived him of everything he wanted. On the contrary, he had secured one of its most important components before the remaining structure disappeared.
Gu Cangming looked at the two Wonders with an expression of cold satisfaction. His gold-flecked eyes reflected the blue sphere and the shifting cube, but there was no reverence in his gaze. He did not regard them as sacred treasures deserving worship. To him, they were materials whose true purpose had been misunderstood by the countless cultivators who had spent generations protecting them.
Below the plateau, billions of demonic entities knelt in absolute submission.
The sight was almost impossible to comprehend. A sea of rotting flesh, iron scales, leathery wings, jagged horns, and twisted limbs stretched across the enormous expanse, extending so far that the farthest ranks disappeared into the purple haze. Demon Kings and Demon Generals knelt beside lesser demons, while powerful Demon Lords bowed their heads alongside creatures whose intelligence had barely advanced beyond instinct.
Some pressed their foreheads against the black stone, trembling beneath the overwhelming presence of the being above them. Others wept tears of black blood, their bodies shaking with the kind of religious fervor that could not be produced by fear alone. They had witnessed Gu Cangming’s power, and the sight had convinced them that they were standing before a being capable of overturning the order of the universe.
"Glory to the Eternal Calamity!" the demonic horde roared.
Their voices overlapped, producing a deafening chorus that shook the plateau and spread across the surrounding abyss. Countless creatures raised their claws, wings, and weapons toward the sky, while dark energy surged from their bodies in waves of fanatical devotion. The pressure generated by their collective excitement was immense, yet it remained insignificant compared with the authority of the figure they worshipped.
"The Sovereign of the Abyss! The Devourer of Worlds!"
A towering Demon Lord with several monstrous heads rose from the front ranks, though he kept his body bent in submission. His massive frame was covered in overlapping scales, and a whip formed from pure shadow coiled around one arm. In a display of religious ecstasy, he lashed his own back, sending fragments of dark energy scattering across the stone.
"Who can claim to be undefeated if not you, Lord?" the Demon Lord bellowed. "You seize the oceans from the heavens and shatter the ancient dimensions with a movement of your hand! No enemy can oppose you, and no law can restrain your will!"
