Chapter 637: Chapter 633: Whereabouts Exposed

’Hmm?’

Hong Yu had slain over a hundred Desolate Beasts, and the number of stars on his Luo Rune Seal had reached three hundred.

However, that was still a long way from the full eighteen thousand stars.

But the power of the Luo Rune Seal had clearly increased significantly.

Just as he was preparing to leave, he subconsciously swept his gaze across the valley with his Illusory Spirit Celestial Eyes and suddenly noticed something strange.

’These Desolate Beasts seem a bit different!’

Using his Illusory Spirit Celestial Eyes for Peeping Essence, Hong Yu discovered that the bodies of these Desolate Beasts were much tougher than ordinary ones.

The Luo Rune Seal killed Desolate Beasts by draining their essence, but it didn’t cause much damage to their physical bodies, so Hong Yu could still examine the corpses.

He casually cut open the body of one of the Desolate Beast corpses.

He discovered that there was actually residual Spiritual Qi within the bodies of these Desolate Beasts, which was extremely bizarre.

One had to understand that until a Desolate Beast reached Tier Six, it wouldn’t possess high intelligence, let alone know how to cultivate on its own. They all relied on instinct, devouring Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects or rising through the ranks by preying on the weak to gradually increase their level.

Therefore...

It was impossible for Desolate Beasts below the Sixth Grade to have so much Spiritual Qi in their bodies.

Even if they had unintentionally absorbed some Spiritual Qi in their daily lives, it would quickly dissipate after death. Yet the Spiritual Qi in these Desolate Beasts remained concentrated, showing no signs of dispersing.

This discovery prompted Hong Yu to think even more carefully.

He was puzzled by their presence. Logically, these Desolate Beasts were of different species and would likely fight to the death upon meeting. But when he had arrived, they were all coexisting peacefully in one place.

From the looks of it, something in the valley seemed to be attracting them.

’Could there be another secret in this valley?’

The True Dragon Battlefield held endless fortuitous encounters.

Because of this, any expert who managed to survive the trials of the True Dragon Battlefield would reap great benefits. It wasn’t uncommon for them to soar like a dragon, transforming from a crow into a Phoenix.

’I’ll just watch from here for a bit and see what’s going on!’

Hong Yu found a discreet boulder and sat cross-legged behind it.

He sprinkled some medicinal powder around to mask his scent.

This would make it harder for Desolate Beasts to discover him.

He waited for an entire afternoon.

Night fell, and the moon hung high among the treetops.

RUSTLE RUSTLE!

A series of noisy rustles startled Hong Yu.

His gaze sharpened. He cautiously peeked out and looked toward the entrance of the valley, and was immediately shocked.

Desolate Beasts were slowly appearing at the valley’s entrance. Their eyes were hazy, as if they were being controlled, and they shuffled into the valley like walking corpses.

Then one, two, three...

More and more Desolate Beasts arrived.

Over a hundred Desolate Beasts reached the area, but they didn’t fight. Instead, they entered the valley in an orderly fashion. The first to arrive found a spot deeper inside to lie down, while the later ones settled closer to the entrance.

The procession of Desolate Beasts continued for a full three hours.

Hong Yu did a rough calculation. There were now over three hundred Desolate Beasts in the valley—a mountain and sea of beasts!

Strangely, these Desolate Beasts paid no mind to the corpses already in the valley. They would either kick them aside or take a bite, but they would never attack another living Desolate Beast.

The scene was incredibly eerie.

"What is going on?" Hong Yu’s eyes widened.

He had never heard of anything so bizarre.

ROAR!

AWOOO!

One by one, the Desolate Beasts suddenly tilted their heads back and let out a series of shrieks and roars.

They all raised their heads high. Hong Yu noticed streams of golden light sprinkling down from the void, which the Desolate Beasts swallowed.

’This... This is solidified Spiritual Qi? Good heavens, what is this place?’ Hong Yu was utterly astonished.

What was solidified Spiritual Qi?

It was like the Essence River Hong Yu had encountered before. That was one type, but it had been formed by an Array set up by the Fire Cloud Divine Sect, accumulating over thousands or even tens of thousands of years.

But this golden Spiritual Qi before him was like a torrent, and it had clearly just been condensed!

’This place is definitely strange. If it isn’t a Grotto Heaven Blessed Land, then it must contain some kind of Treasure!’ Hong Yu’s eyes burned with excitement.

He began to carefully observe his surroundings.

Suddenly...

He discovered that the source of this solidified golden Spiritual Qi was a rock in the deepest part of the valley—the very same one he had stood on to urinate earlier that day.

’Could that rock be the key? I have to find a way to get over there and check it out!’

Hong Yu hesitated for a moment, then cautiously moved out from behind the boulder.

He was extremely careful, afraid of disturbing the Desolate Beasts.

But it was as if their six senses had been sealed; they didn’t notice Hong Yu’s approach at all.

’What’s so different about this rock?’

’I stood on it and took a piss during the day and didn’t notice anything strange at all. How is it suddenly emitting solidified Spiritual Qi?’

’Could it be under the rock?’

With that thought, Hong Yu tried to move the rock.

His movements were very careful, and he didn’t wake the Desolate Beasts that were intoxicated by the golden Spiritual Qi. But just as he moved it enough to create a crack, a golden torrent suddenly erupted from within.

This golden torrent was precisely the solidified Spiritual Qi.

’Isn’t this a bit too much?’

BOOM!

The golden torrent gushed out like a golden fountain.

Hong Yu was nearly thrown back. His hair was a mess, and his body and face were splattered with the golden light.

He spat in frustration. Just as he was about to continue moving the rock, he realized something was wrong. The solidified golden Spiritual Qi clinging to him began to hiss, burning his body like fire.

In an instant, his clothes were burned to tatters.

His skin was also searing hot, as if he might be cooked at any moment.

"Damn it!"

Hong Yu cursed under his breath.

He activated the Primordial Gang Fighting Technique to try and absorb the golden Spiritual Qi, but it had no effect. Helpless, he had no choice but to take off his clothes and toss them aside.

FWOOSH!

The moment the clothes left his body, they were instantly incinerated into ash by the golden energy.

But the golden energy on his skin only emitted intense heat without actually harming him. It was as if it just wanted to enter his body, which puzzled Hong Yu even more.

He tried swallowing a drop of the golden energy.

The next moment, Hong Yu’s face froze. "Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!" He hastily spat out the golden energy. The taste of that stuff was simply unbearable for any human!

"Disperse!"

Hong Yu roared, shaking his body to scatter the golden energy.

After waiting by the side for a while, the gushing golden torrent finally subsided, revealing a cave entrance.

’What’s down there?’

Hong Yu lay on the ground and peered through the opening.

Below was a patch of Darkness, and he couldn’t see a thing.

’Strange!’

’Curiosity killed the cat!’

Hong Yu decided to go in and see for himself. He pushed the rock completely aside. This time, no golden energy rushed out.

SWOOSH!

Activating both the Cyan Celestial Transformation Dragon Technique and the Fire Cloud Divine Armor, he gripped the Godslaying Spear and leaped inside.

The moment he entered, Hong Yu regretted it.

RUMBLE!

A terrifying, scorching torrent suddenly surged toward him from all directions. The temperature of this torrent was horrifying. Hong Yu immediately felt his Godslaying Spear become incredibly hot, almost searing his hand, and he quickly stored it in his pagoda’s space.

But the Fire Cloud Divine Armor on his body also suddenly became scorching hot.

It felt like it was about to melt.

"Fuck!"

Just as Hong Yu was about to take off the Fire Cloud Divine Armor, a strange Demonic Sound echoed from the depths of the cave.

He couldn’t understand the meaning of this Demonic Sound at all.

But...

when Hong Yu heard it, he felt a jolt run through his body. His mind went blank, as if an infinite Magic Power was luring him deeper into the cave.

HISSS!

A layer of golden flames already surrounded him, causing the cyan Dragon Scales on his body to turn red-hot, as if they were about to be burned through.

FWOOM!

The scales on Hong Yu’s body actually caught fire. Waves of excruciating pain pierced his Soul, and blood dripped from his wounds, turning him into a blood-soaked figure.

The sharp pain finally snapped Hong Yu back to his senses.

Seeing himself covered in flames, the hairs on his body stood on end.

’Good grief, if I stay any longer, I’ll be roasted alive!’

He hastily shook off the flames on his body. He didn’t dare stay any longer and flew back out of the cave.

BANG!

He put the rock back in place.

HUFF, HUFF!

Hong Yu gasped for air, his eyes filled with lingering fear. He patted his chest. "Jeez, I was almost cooked. This place is too damn weird. There must be something terrifying hidden in the depths of that cave. I absolutely can’t go back there!"

With that thought, he prepared to leave.

But just then...

a series of rapid whooshes tore through the air from outside the valley.

’Someone’s here?’

Hong Yu leaned against the back of the rock and listened.

「In the darkness.」

"Snake King, Young Master Ling, this is the strange place your subordinate discovered yesterday. A lot of Desolate Beasts come here at night, and they don’t even react if you kill them!" a low voice said.

The Snake King, his voice sharp and cold, said faintly, "It is indeed strange. There’s even solidified Spiritual Qi here. There must be some kind of Treasure hidden."

Young Master Ling’s voice was extremely flamboyant and arrogant, dripping with condescension. "You lot, go slaughter these Desolate Beasts first. This young master is starving." He paused, then cursed, "It’s all that damn Hong Yu’s fault, making this young master go on such a long wild goose chase. Damn it! When this young master finds him, I’ll break both his legs."

"Jie jie, Young Master Ling, the Second City Lord didn’t give you permission to come out. Weren’t you the one who insisted on tagging along?" the Snake King said.

His voice was naturally that cold, making it unpleasant to listen to, but he wasn’t intentionally targeting Young Master Ling.

Young Master Ling was rude to others, but he was more restrained with the Snake King. "Snake King, you know as well as I do that the North and South Divine City are no fun at all. My cousin won’t let me go kill the War Race, saying I’m prone to causing trouble. I finally got a chance to come out, so how could I miss it?"

"Hahaha, this king knows you’ve been cooped up. I heard that Hong Yu has a few female confidantes. After we kill him and take his Venerable Golden Bone, this king will help you catch a few for you to sample!" the Snake King laughed.

Young Master Ling roared with laughter. "That sounds great! I remember hearing that some people from West Gate Divine City ran into a woman named Zhu Ling’er. They say she’s quite a looker, and she had a little girl with her who’s Hong Yu’s sister. They were being hunted by the people from West Gate Divine City. I wonder if they’ve been caught yet. If they have, we can try to buy that broad from them."

"Jie jie, in that case, I’ll have to trouble Young Master Ling to buy Hong Yu’s sister for me as well!" the Snake King said with a sinister charm.

Young Master Ling laughed heartily. "You really have a thing for that, don’t you? I heard you’re specially raising a group of pregnant women just waiting for their babies to be born!"

"Jie jie!"

The Snake King let out a gloomy, sinister laugh.

Hiding behind the rock, Hong Yu overheard their conversation and was shocked. ’Little Chenxi is being hunted?’

His shock caused him to make a slight noise, which caught the Snake King’s attention.

The Snake King’s cold eyes swept over. "Who’s there?" he demanded coldly. "Get the hell out here for this king!"
