Immortal of the Nine Realms
Chapter 1902: Fishing in Muddy Waters?
The Ghost Immortal leading the Grand Wei Study waved the folding fan in his hand and spoke with a smile. "That is an excellent question, and I would be delighted to answer it. Allow me."
Seeing this, the leader of the Black Sun Empire nodded slightly and yielded the floor to him.
The gazes of all parties fell upon the Ghost Immortal leading Grand Wei Study, particularly the gaze of that Ghost Immortal from the Blood and Flesh Divine Palace.
"My answer is also very simple. If you do not stand on our side, the only thing awaiting you is a path to certain death." The Ghost Immortal from the Grand Wei Study smiled and continued. "Although the Taicang Realm is currently in a state of negotiation with you all, what if an agreement is reached? Does that mean the Demon Race and the Demonic Beast Race will cease to exist in the Nine Realms? Does it mean that the Fallen Immortals of the Major Immortal Realm will all perish one by one and vanish into thin air?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"What does this matter have to do with the Fallen Immortals? If you cooperate with them, you will only bring trouble upon yourselves. They are merely Great Yin Demons that possess intelligence. They are treacherous, cunning, malicious, and unpredictable. Your Demon Race should understand this better than anyone," the leader of the Blood and Flesh Divine Palace said coldly.
The Path of the Fallen Immortal was originally a special cultivation path developed by the Demon Race. It was not bound by the restrictions of regular cultivation pathways, nor was it constrained by the vacancy of a ninth transformation position. Just like the True Demons of the Demon Race, as long as their accumulation was profound enough, they would naturally advance to ninth transformation.
In terms of cultivation difficulty, the paths walked by the Human Race and the Demonic Beasts Race were the most arduous. However, if completed, they were also the most stable.
"This is not something our Demon Race can control," the leader of the Grand Wei Study replied, shaking his head with a smile. "Right now, it is the Demonic Beasts Race that has chosen to cooperate with the Fallen Immortals."
He pointed toward the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower in the sky.
"With the three powerful races joining forces, your Human Race stands absolutely no chance of obtaining this supreme Underworld treasure. If you choose to cooperate with us now, once the Underworld is unified, the Human Race will still be qualified to sit down and share a piece of the pie. If you refuse, there will be no need for the Human Race to exist within the Nine Realms anymore. This vast expanse of the Nine Realms might as well be carved up between my Demon Race and the Demonic Beasts Race."
The leader of the Nine Nether Immortal Sect added, "Although Monarch Fang belongs to your Human Race, his background ensures that he cannot gain any advantage in this battle for the supreme treasure. He may not even be able to save himself. Choosing to stand by his side is nothing short of digging your own graves."
Leng Buqi stood beside his master, participating in this meeting. Upon hearing those words, a trace of solemnity and worry inevitably appeared in his eyes.
If the Demon Race, the Demonic Beasts Race, and the Fallen Immortals truly formed a powerful alliance, then this supreme treasure of the Underworld might truly fall into the hands of the Motian Division. Should that happen, the negotiations regarding the Taicang Realm would inevitably collapse. With such a treasure, they would possess enough leverage to influence the situation of the Nine Mortal Realms from the Underworld. The Human Race would find themselves in a passive, defensive state for a very long time to come.
Leng Buqi wasn't the only one to realize this. Every human Ghost Immortal present did.
"Then let us fight. Regardless of whether this object falls into our hands, we will absolutely never let it fall into the hands of the Demon Race or the Demonic Beasts Race. And it is even more impossible to let it fall into the hands of the Fallen Immortals!"
The corners of Elder Heiyu's lips curled upward. The flower basket in her hand suddenly transformed into a dense cluster of black serpent heads, striking straight at the three leading Ghost Immortals from the Taicang Realm.
With her taking the lead, how could anyone else hesitate? Taking advantage of the fact that the opponent's forces had not fully arrived to cut away some of their wings might well influence the subsequent outcome.
Such was the nature of battle. Everything could change in an instant. One moment they had been negotiating, the next, blades were drawn.
Fang Chen and his companions watched this scene quietly. Without a word from him, Venerable Fatian and the others naturally would not intervene in this conflict. This was because the leading Ghost Immortals of each faction had brought along several muddle-headed, mindless ninth-transformation Ghost Immortals. If such existences were to make a move, the mere aftershocks would be enough to give eighth transformations a difficult time.
Fortunately, those factions exercised a degree of restraint. From beginning to end, no one deployed the ninth-transformation Ghost Immortals, which were akin to catastrophic weapons.
Fang Chen suddenly chuckled lightly. "Trying to fish in muddy waters?"
He retrieved his Yin Gourd and gently tipped it over.
The moment Abbess Qing He manifested, she pinched a phantom out of the void. It was a muddle-headed nine-transformation Ghost Immortal. After being seized by Abbess Qing He, he seemed to lose the ability to retaliate, capable only of struggling continuously.
Only then did Venerable Fatian and the others snap out of it. It turned out someone had harbored murderous intent toward Monarch Fang long ago, attempting to launch a chaotic sneak attack to assassinate him!
They rose to their feet one after another, positioning themselves in the four cardinal directions around Fang Chen, their expressions alert.
Fang Chen said with a smile, "Little Abbess, throw him up there."
Upon hearing that, Abbess Qing He immediately struck the chest of the ninth-transformation Ghost Immortal with her palm. He was instantly propelled by a powerful force toward the upper portion of the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower, where he was drawn inside to be refined.
After that, Abbess Qing He turned her attention toward the chaotic battlefield, surprise hanging on her face. "Lord Fang... what exactly happened here?"
Fang Chen offered a brief explanation. Only then did she gaze at the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower with a face full of wonder.
Abbess Qing He's expression grew somewhat solemn. "As expected of a supreme treasure of the Underworld. Even I can sense a trace of pressure from this object. If I were to approach right now, I too would be swallowed by it."
Fang Chen smiled. "Its current state is erratic, and it attacks indiscriminately. Therefore, it is best to stay far away from it."
Pausing for a moment, he asked, "Could the origin of that Ghost Immortal just now be from the Motian Division?"
Venerable Fatian understood that this question was directed at them, and they shook their heads in unison.
He noted, "The aura of that person is vastly different from the ninth transformation of the Motian Division. He should be a Ghost Immortal nurtured using fragments of the Book of Life and Death."
Fang Chen laughed. "So, some people have arrived but are hiding in the shadow. They are unwilling to show their faces, yet they want to see if they can catch a big fish like me."
In the distance, a group of Ghost Immortals quietly concealed their forms. When they saw that the surprise attack by the ninth-transformation Ghost Immortal had failed, their expressions became exceptionally ugly.
This group of Ghost Immortals possessed a prominent characteristic. Most of them were bald and held Buddhist prayer beads.
An old monk looked toward Shao Guangyin with a freezing gaze. "Shao Guangyin, we have alerted the enemy. This is your fault. Were it not for you, we wouldn't have lost a ninth transformation Ghost Immortal like this."
Shao Guangyin remained silent for a few breaths before saying indifferently, "It was a rare opportunity. If we didn't try, how would we know if it would succeed? If we could have eliminated Monarch Fang ahead of schedule, do I really need to repeat how immense the benefits would be for our clan?"
"Monarch Fang is not our target for this excursion. This supreme treasure of the Underworld is," the old monk sneered. "It is nothing more than your personal history with him that prompted you to misuse public resources. Now that a ninth transformation has been lost, I shall see how you account for this to the Grand Abbot."
"There is no need for any accounting. The birth of this supreme treasure will alter the entire political landscape."
Shao Guangyin stared intently at the Eighteen Heavens Prison Tower in the sky.
"The time left for the Human Race will not be long."
A monk with a treacherous countenance walked quietly to Shao Guangyin's side, his eyes seemingly filled with countless calculating thoughts. "Hehe... once the Human Race is completely cleaned up, how about we join hands to wipe out the Demonic Beasts Race as well?"
