Immortal Sword Master
Chapter 614: Blood Rebirth, Eternal Stele
Bai Wuxue’s hands formed a seal. Within it, one could faintly see blades and swords, long spears and lances, and all manner of torture instruments.
In an instant, countless blades, spears, swords, and halberds materialized throughout the void—a vast array of weapons and instruments of torture. Their piercing aura tore the very air to shreds.
At that moment, Bai Wuxue resembled a Divine Spirit of punishment, commanding the sky-spanning arsenal as it descended upon Golden Cicada.
This was an earth-shattering Great Divine Technique. Each weapon could heavily injure, or even kill, an ordinary King. With thousands upon thousands of them, they instantly formed a fatal checkmate.
‘He has gained a deeper understanding of the Celestial Punishment Seal.’
Golden Cicada focused his mind and qi. His fists moved like lightning, thrusting and retracting without a hint of retreat. He attacked suddenly, meeting the technique head-on.
BOOM.
His Fist Force radiated outward, transforming into golden ripples that clashed with the sky full of weapons.
If the aftershocks from their clash were to reach the earth below, they could level mountains, evaporate great rivers, and bring about countless terrifying calamities.
When Kings fought, it meant collapsing mountains and raging tsunamis, the destruction of cities and lands. Furthermore, they were Eight-Stars Kings, whose combat prowess was beyond imagination.
“Golden Cicada, if your true self were here, I might be wary of you. But you are a mere remnant soul, yet you dream of opposing me? How delusional! Die!”
Bai Wuxue moved with the gait of a Dragon Walk and Tiger Stride, his feet seemingly treading on the very fabric of the world as he struck.
A terrifying Power erupted from his body, transforming into countless Flood Dragons that lunged forward to kill.
Golden Cicada’s form flickered, shifting in midair. No matter how ferocious Bai Wuxue’s attacks were, they simply could not touch him.
He was a Celestial King, after all. Even as a mere wisp of a soul, his techniques were not to be underestimated.
BANG!
A fist met empty air.
Bai Wuxue spun around abruptly, only to see Golden Cicada appear behind him. A single finger jabbed forward, its power concentrated into one point that tore through the sky. A radiant, glorious light of liberation gathered at his fingertip, invoking a sudden urge in Bai Wuxue to abandon everything and fall to his knees in worship.
“The Great Liberation Finger!”
Bai Wuxue was startled. ‘This Martial Art is indeed a part of the Supreme Dao, but it’s far from enough to ‘liberate’ me!’
He let out a long cry as the Power in his body erupted like a volcano, surging out to meet Golden Cicada’s finger.
For a moment, the world plunged into darkness. Then, an unprecedentedly brilliant light erupted from the point of impact. The light became corporeal, like countless Divine Swords raining down to annihilate everything in all directions.
“Look out!”
The various Kings scrambled to get out of the way.
The Flood Dragon King, standing closest, simply let the shockwaves wash over him. But when they came within ten feet of his body, an invisible barrier of light blocked them, preventing them from getting any closer.
He, too, was an Eight-Stars King, no weaker than the two combatants in terms of raw power. Naturally, such aftershocks couldn’t harm him.
At this moment, he was itching for a fight. Opportunities for a truly satisfying battle were few and far between for someone of his caliber.
But he also knew that rashly interfering would undoubtedly displease Bai Wuxue. With the Other Shore Divine Sect backing him, even the Flood Dragon King had to be cautious.
BOOM!
After another heaven-shaking collision, Bai Wuxue and Golden Cicada were both forced back.
“Golden Cicada, how much longer can that remnant soul of yours hold on?”
Bai Wuxue sneered. ‘This Battle Armor may be formidable, but activating it must consume its user’s Power. Golden Cicada is just a remnant soul with limited Power. As Time passes, his defeat is certain.’
“Bai Wuxue, it is time for this to end,” Golden Cicada said.
He stood there, growing ever more tranquil. Layer upon layer of golden light emanated from him, turning the world around him into a vast, golden ocean.
“What is this phenomenon?”
The onlookers stared in shock, their eyes wide with disbelief.
Golden lotuses bloomed one after another around Golden Cicada, making him appear all the more sacred. He looked like a Divine Child descending upon the mortal realm, Extraordinary and transcendent.
Then, the sudden sound of a cicada’s call echoed through the air.
The sound wasn’t jarring. Instead, it carried an aura of tranquility that calmed the hearts of all who heard it, freeing them from want and desire.
Then, at the center of the blossoming lotuses, a brilliant golden light gathered, so bright it was hard to look at.
It was a great golden tree, rising from nothing. Its bark was gnarled like ancient dragons, and it exuded an immeasurably ancient aura. It was impossible to guess the tree’s age; no one would have doubted it had lived for tens of thousands of years.
What truly shocked everyone was the tree’s immense size—it soared straight into the heavens.
Its canopy spread in every direction like a layer of golden clouds, stretching for dozens of miles across the sky.
Cascading layers of light sprinkled down from its leaves, like a rain of golden light, both sacred and beautiful.
“The Enlightenment Tree!”
Gazing at the giant golden tree, Bai Wuxue’s expression grew grim.
Legend told that the Enlightenment Tree was the Holy Tree of the Six Eastern Provinces and possessed unimaginable power. Golden Cicada himself was said to be a golden cicada from that very tree. The moment it appeared, Bai Wuxue felt the air grow heavy around him, severely restricting his movements.
BOOM!
The Enlightenment Tree trembled gently, and streaks of golden light rained down. Each streak was powerful enough to annihilate an ordinary King. Soon, the golden light blotted out the sky, surging forward like a vast ocean.
“A mere remnant soul thinks it can defy the heavens? Kill!”
Bai Wuxue roared at the sky. Beams of light wove and coiled around his body until he himself transformed into a blinding pillar of light, crashing forward like a falling star.
BAM!
A tremendous sound erupted. Strangely, however, no one could hear it, for it was so loud it surpassed the limits of mortal hearing.
The greatest sounds are silent.
When all fell quiet, shocked gazes turned toward the sky high above. Only Golden Cicada remained; Bai Wuxue was nowhere to be seen.
“Is Bai Wuxue dead?” the crowd wondered in shock.
“A pity,” Golden Cicada said, a look of regret in his eyes. “A drop of his blood remains. I couldn’t erase him completely.”
Ahead in the void, a barely perceptible drop of blood hovered. In an instant, it expanded, transforming back into a person—Bai Wuxue.
“Blood Rebirth! That’s Blood Rebirth!”
The crowd cried out in astonishment.
Blood Rebirth was a Realm that only a select few Kings could ever hope to achieve.
A King in this Realm had a physical form that had become an Undying Body. Even if beaten down to a single drop of blood, they could be reborn from it. This was because their life imprint was completely fused with their flesh, making them incredibly difficult to kill.
However, Blood Rebirth consumed one’s Life Essence Qi, which was directly tied to one’s lifespan. With that one revival, Bai Wuxue had lost at least a thousand years of life.
“Golden Cicada, allow me to test your skills as well!”
Just then, a voice rang out. The Flood Dragon King ascended into the sky with a single step, facing Golden Cicada from across the void.
A glint flashed in Bai Wuxue’s eyes, but he did not object. The Blood Rebirth had severely weakened him. On his own, he truly wasn’t confident he could defeat Golden Cicada.
“Despicable.”
Bai Yuyun’s face flushed with anger.
But Golden Cicada’s expression remained unchanged. He took out a stone stele. As he channeled his Power into it, an ancient, mysterious voice suddenly echoed from within:
“Immortal!”
