Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Legend of the Divination God Sect

Sensing an attack from behind, Yun Qing’s figure flashed as he spun around and unleashed a vicious kick!

BAM!

The crazed figure took Yun Qing’s kick head-on without taking a single step back. Instead, he lunged wildly at Fang Xu, arms flailing!

Fang Xu was about to dodge, but then he heard the words the madman was muttering.

"Divination God... Divination God... Evolve into a god! Evolve into a god!"

In that moment of surprise, his hands were firmly seized by the man. Met with that fanatical gaze, Fang Xu found himself unable to break free no matter how hard he struggled.

"Did he just say ’Divination God’!?" Fang Xu thought in horror. "Could it be related to the Divination God Treasure? How does he know I possess the Divination God Treasure?"

Before he could process his shock, he saw that Yun Qing had already drawn his longsword, preparing to cut the madman down with a single strike!

"Young Master Yun," Fang Xu hastily stopped him. "Why lower yourself to the level of a madman?"

"Over there!"

"Hurry and apprehend that guy!"

Just as Yun Qing frowned, a group of Si Ji officers in official uniforms rushed over. Two of them expended a great deal of effort to finally pry the madman off Fang Xu.

"Take him away!"

The leading Inspector of the Small Flag waved his hand, ordering his subordinates to haul the madman away. He then looked at Fang Xu and asked, "What is your relationship with that madman?"

Fang Xu offered a bitter smile and cupped his hands. "I don’t know him. I was just walking when he suddenly charged at me."

The Inspector of the Small Flag scrutinized him suspiciously, then turned to the sword-wielding Yun Qing and scolded, "Brandishing a weapon in the streets, do you want to—"

Halfway through his sentence, he noticed the dazzling Glowing Gold Thread Embroidery on Yun Qing’s clothes. A look of terror suddenly washed over his face. He hurriedly dropped to one knee and cupped his hands. "This lowly one is blind! I didn’t recognize Your Excellency. Please forgive me, Your Excellency!"

The Glowing Gold Thread Embroidery was the absolute symbol of the Yun Family’s Direct Lineage, and the Yun Family was the sky that covered Huangzhou Prefecture. Although this Inspector of the Small Flag did not recognize Yun Qing personally, he knew that the person before him was definitely a member of the Yun Family.

"Enough, get lost," Yun Qing said, sheathing his longsword. He couldn’t be bothered to argue with a mere Inspector of the Small Flag.

Seeing this, the officer hurriedly cupped his hands in gratitude and scrambled away.

"Young Master Yun, why did the Si Ji want to arrest that madman?" Fang Xu asked, somewhat puzzled.

Yun Qing pondered for a moment before speaking slowly, "This matter dates back to before the founding of our Yu Kingdom.

"The previous dynasty was corrupt, and numerous feudal lords established themselves, waging war against one another. The common people were plunged into an abyss of suffering, and some wicked individuals took the opportunity to establish evil cults to bewitch the common people.

"The ’Divination God’ that madman was shouting about was the name of an evil cult active in the Huangzhou region at the time, known as the Divination God Sect.

"The cultists of the Divination God Sect worshipped the so-called Divination God. Their leader called himself the Lord, and under him were five Lord Fathers.

"It is said that during the peak of the Divination God Sect, all five Lord Fathers were powerhouses in the Martial Venerable Realm. As for that mysterious Lord, he was a figure that even the first Emperor Yu feared."

Hearing this, Fang Xu was slightly stunned.

"They were that strong?"

Yun Qing scoffed. "As the saying goes, ’Disasters brought by heaven may be avoided, but disasters brought upon oneself are inescapable.’

"After that Lord gained control of all of Huangzhou, he went completely insane, attempting to create a new cultivation system by dissecting Martial Artists.

"After brutally murdering a large number of followers, he actually turned his sights onto his five Lord Fathers. This forced the five of them to defect and join forces with Emperor Yu to destroy him.

"After that, the Divination God Sect was designated as an evil cult by the royal family. Anyone who dares to mention the Divination God will be immediately arrested."

Fang Xu furrowed his brow tightly. He didn’t know if there was any connection between the Divination God Sect Yun Qing spoke of and the "Divination God Treasure" he was cultivating.

However... squeezing the hard object in his hand, Fang Xu couldn’t help but feel that the madman was not as simple as he seemed.

Yun Qing was a Seventh Realm Martial Master. Even a casual kick from him was enough to instantly kill an ordinary person. Not only was the madman completely unharmed after taking the blow, but he had also managed to firmly grab Fang Xu and slip an object into his hand before Fang Xu could even react.

Retracting his clenched fist into his sleeve, Fang Xu looked at Yun Qing and said, "Young Master Yun, let’s go."

Yun Qing nodded slightly and led Fang Xu to the Huichun Pavilion to purchase some Qi Blood Pills.

"Alright, go browse for weapons on your own. I’m going to the tavern over here to drink. Come find me later." Seemingly uninterested in Fang Xu’s subsequent plans, Yun Qing directly picked a roadside tavern and headed in for a drink.

Seeing this, Fang Xu didn’t say much and walked straight ahead along Stone Slab Street.

It wasn’t long before he spotted many Martial Artists setting up stalls in an alleyway. As Fang Xu strolled slowly among them, he felt a sense of nostalgia, like he was wandering through a bustling antique market from his past life.

The items displayed on these stalls were a hodgepodge of junk: various broken weapons, shattered armor, fierce beast bones, Beast Hides, teeth, and horns, as well as strange plants, tree roots, patterned metal fragments, stone slabs, and more.

It was truly a bizarre collection. Furthermore, the stall owners had painstakingly prepared all sorts of exquisite, fantastical tales to highlight the non-existent value of their wares. He wasn’t sure if there were any actual treasures among the trash, but there was certainly no shortage of people willing to play the sucker.

Not long into his stroll, Fang Xu saw several First and Second Realm Martial Disciples empty their coin pouches and happily walk away, clutching mysterious Cultivation Techniques allegedly discovered deep within Tilan Mountain.

Little did they know, these stall owners had probably never even set foot on Tilan Mountain themselves.

"Brother, what are you looking for? I have a batch of good stuff fresh from the Tilan Mountain ruins right here!"

As Fang Xu was walking, a lean man sidled up next to him and spoke secretively.

Tilan Mountain ruins?

Fang Xu couldn’t help but want to laugh. Regardless of whether their goods were genuine, these guys were certainly well-informed. Very few people likely knew about the appearance of the Tilan Mountain ruins at this point, yet this man was already using it as a scam.

Glancing over the items on the man’s stall, Fang Xu shook his head and was about to leave. However, the lean man hastily grabbed him. After looking left and right, he covertly pulled open his worn-out shirt, revealing several items hanging inside.

"I can see you have an eye for quality. If those things didn’t catch your attention, how about you take a look at these?"

Fang Xu cast a glance at the few items strapped to the man’s body. There was a broken sword tip with a touch of rust, and a bronze dagger that glinted coldly, looking rather sharp. There was also an unknown piece of Beast Hide drawn with map-like lines, and a few fragments of bronze artifacts engraved with inscriptions.

He shook his head and smiled. "I’m not interested in your wares."

Hearing this, the lean man immediately widened his eyes and insisted, "These are all excellent goods!"

Too lazy to bicker with him, Fang Xu turned to leave.

The lean man gritted his teeth and said, "Do you think my goods are fake, brother?"

Fang Xu didn’t reply and prepared to keep walking. But then, the lean man suddenly darted forward, merely brushing lightly against his body. In the next moment, a heavy cloth pouch appeared in the man’s hand.

Fang Xu furrowed his brow, a flash of killing intent passing through his eyes. "You’re courting death!"

That cloth pouch was his coin purse; it contained all of his worldly possessions.

"Calm down, brother, calm down!" The lean man hastily handed the pouch back to Fang Xu, then leaned in and whispered, "I was just proving to you that I have the skills.

"Take a look, brother. On this street, as long as you spot something you fancy, I can get it for you. The price is negotiable."

Hearing this, Fang Xu was so angered he laughed.

"Then go get me that turquoise-inlaid dagger from that stall over there."

The lean man chuckled. "Wait here."

With that, he walked straight to the stall Fang Xu had pointed out. Keeping his head down, he pretended to browse and exchanged a few words with the stall owner. Then, he returned to Fang Xu, and somehow, the dagger was already in his hand!

"How about that?" the man boasted smugly.

Fang Xu was somewhat surprised. He had been staring at the man the entire time and hadn’t even seen him make a move.

"Brother, to be honest, I just feel like it’s fate for us to meet. How about this? I’ll show you a real treasure."

Pulling Fang Xu into an empty corner, the lean man reached into his chest pocket, pulled out a dusty, gray object, and presented it to Fang Xu.
