Chapter 124: Chapter 92: Let’s Make Up a Demon General
The pitch-black shadow that had shrouded White Teeth Mine finally, slowly, began to recede.
The firelight in the stone pit still flickered, never having been extinguished.
"He’s gone?"
Monkey stared blankly at his surroundings as the other Little Demons, their hearts still pounding with fear, gathered around.
"Senior Sister Xie, did you get a clear look at who it was?"
"No."
Xie Yutang descended from the sky.
She now held two corpses in her hands—none other than Yu Qing and Yu Kui.
In response to their questions, she remained silent for a few moments before shaking her head.
’There was no need to see anything. Yu Qing had already screamed the name.’
’It was just that under the shroud of that Illusionary Immortal Technique, the others’ Cultivation was too low for them to hear him.’
’That Shopkeeper Lin clearly didn’t want to get too involved with their group of Demons.’
"Let’s get them out of here first. We’ll deal with the rest when we get back."
Xie Yutang let out a sharp exhale to steady her nerves, struggling to recover from the brutal scene she had just witnessed.
She then recalled the look the young man gave her before he left.
The young woman smiled with a hint of resignation.
’If the others knew Shopkeeper Lin’s identity, it might bring him trouble.’
’But for me, it doesn’t matter.’
’A Mountain Master Disciple who defected from the Yu Family... If I ever show my face in Yongzhou, I’m guaranteed not to see the sun rise the next day.’
’And no Immortal Family would ever believe a word I say.’
"Sigh."
Since things had already come to this, there was no longer any need for restraint.
Xie Yutang suddenly channeled her Dao Essence, blasting the exit several times wider with a flash of her sword.
"If you don’t want to die, follow me!"
With a gust of wind from her sleeve, she sent the terrified Laborers rushing outside, then transformed into a streak of light and vanished into the distance.
"Let’s go, let’s go! We can ask questions when we get back!"
A few of the Little Demons patted their chests, hurrying to catch up.
Just then, they turned back in confusion. "Monkey, what are you doing?"
"I... I just feel like we’re getting short-changed."
Monkey gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Look, we were all about to die, and some expert suddenly shows up and saves us. You know what that is? That’s a heaven-sent opportunity!"
"That expert granted us this opportunity, and we’re just going to walk away?"
He clapped his hands together forcefully. "Would that be doing right by our benefactor?"
"What exactly are you trying to do?" The other Little Demons stopped, looking at him suspiciously.
"Raise a banner!" Monkey licked his dry lips.
"That’s ridiculous. Senior Sister Xie didn’t get the Spiritual Milk, so no one can reach Core Formation. What kind of banner are you going to raise?" the Little Demons said, rolling their eyes at him.
"If no one’s reached Core Formation, then we’ll just make up a name for now. The important thing is to commemorate this event."
True to his word, Monkey ignored his injuries and leaped onto the crimson stone wall.
He mulled it over for a moment, then suddenly recalled the scene of the Red Moon being devoured by the shadow.
"I’ve got it!"
The scrawny youth grinned from ear to ear. Using his palm as a brush, he broke through the stone and painstakingly carved a single, massive word several yards wide.
Moon-Devouring.
The powerful, sharp strokes of the word, set against the crimson stone wall, looked somewhat sinister and chilling.
"When I reach Core Formation, I’ll be the Moon-Devouring Demon General!" Monkey declared, sliding nimbly down the wall.
A few of the Little Demons rolled their eyes.
’Raising a banner isn’t so simple. Who’s going to believe you if you just make up a name without the corresponding Demon Qi of a Core Formation expert? Only an idiot.’
"Hurry up and let’s go! If we get caught, the Immortal Family will flay you alive!"
The demons ran laughing toward the mountain exit.
Even though they had only played a small part, the fact that they had saved six thousand Laborers made them so excited they wanted to howl with joy.
