Immortality Starts With Selling Pills
Chapter 54: Derrick’s Needs
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Derrick’s Needs
Seeing half-naked, unconscious Cassie in Derrick’s arms, Rebecca opened her mouth to say something, but seeing the serious look on his face, she paused and asked instead.
"What happened to her?"
Derrick took Cassandra out of the bathroom, and Rebecca let him.
"She is just exhausted from the breakthrough." Derrick rushed down while explaining what happened to Rebecca.
"Breakthrough?" Rebecca was confused.
"I brought her the pills she was asking for to break through." Derricked nudged the door of his room with his arm and pushed it open completely.
He laid Cassie on the bed carefully and covered her with the thick duvet that was lying at the feet of the bed.
"Everything went great, and she has advanced to the Physical Strengthening Stage. She was about to break the new tub as well. Good thing I got her out in time." Derrick chuckled as he walked out of the room with Rebecca.
But no response came from her.
Derrick turned around and looked at her. She was staring at Sleeping Cassie with a complicated look on her face.
"It seems I cannot stop you two from doing what you want." When she finally turned around, Derrick saw something sharp in her eyes. "Even if you two do not join the Hunter association, you will be targeted just for trying to get power or money."
Her eyes brimmed with firm resolve as she said, "Since I cannot stop you, I will join you."
Derrick opened his mouth, but she did not let him speak.
"I want to be there to protect my children like I should, not stand in back and watch them fall and worry every time about their safety."
After carefully thinking for a while, Rebecca had finally reached a decision, and she was not going to back down.
Derrick could see it in her eyes.
His powers allowed him to read her better than she knew. Her worries, insecurities, and burden—he saw it all.
He raised his palm and gave him the same box Cassie used to store pills.
There were ten pills inside it already.
"Take them all even if you break through. I have tried them myself, and with Cassie it is confirmed that there is nothing to worry about if you take one pill at a time and let each dissolve." Derrick gave her instructions patiently.
"When you are close to breaking through, you will feel all the gathered energy in your body explode, and it will hurt a lot."
"But don’t worry. Once the pain fades, your breakthrough is imminent."
Rebecca took the box and clenched it tightly in her hands.
"I will make that pizza—" Derrick turned around only to realize he was soaking wet. "I should change first."
He walked into the room and closed the door, leaving Rebecca to herself.
Inside, Derrick saw Cassie lying on her bed. He turned and walked up to the cupboard and opened it.
With his back turned, he filled to notice Cassie peeking at him. A faint smile appeared on her face.
It disappeared before Derrick turned around and noticed it.
Derrick picked out a set of fresh clothes and silently shook his head with a wry smile.
Once he was done changing, he walked out and finally cooked that 13-inch pizza in the oven, which baked it to perfection.
After eating, he went out. He did not go anywhere for a walk. He just sat down on the slightly wet grass and closed his eyes.
What should I do now? He wondered.
Derrick had already uploaded three Chapters of the day and written everything he had to write.
But that was not what he was thinking about.
He was feeling that he was not making money fast enough.
The items of the system shop were expensive.
The Enlightenment Pill he took before cost around 200,000,000 Each piece. Seeing that price, he felt as if he had wasted a precious opportunity.
After all, who knows when he would see a pill like that again.
Derrick leaned back and allowed himself to fall on the grass. With his eyes still closed, he summoned the system out of habit.
He skimmed over his profile before looking at the mission tab.
[Mission 1: Word Count warrior]
[Status: Completed]
[Reward: 1 Random Grade Skill Manual (Common to Rare)—Ready to be claimed in inventory]
Out of the three missions, he had already completed one.
Derrick did not rush to claim the reward and scrolled down until he reached it.
[Main Mission, Part 2: Grand Opening.]
[Details: Open a shop and sell any 10 pills. The shop can be an online store or a physical one. At least 7 of the Buyers have to be outside of the host’s Immediate family.
Objective 1: Open Shop.
Objective 2: Sell 10 Pills.
Rewards:
10X multiplier on the earnings obtained through these sales.
One Breakthrough Serum—Enhanced Stage Being Level Injection.
A Superpower Realm Trail Card: Gain the power of a Superpower Realm being of your choice for 1 hour without any side effects.
There was no reason for Derrick to not accept this mission right away, seeing those rewards, or so what some might think.
But to sell the pill, Derrick needed a government-issued alchemist certificate that identifies him as a proper alchemist who was authorized to sell his product.
Without it, he could not sell his pills legally.
Which meant he had to sell his pills in the black market, but that would waste his time and open him to many dangers.
To get a certificate, he would have to be an Enhanced stage being. Only then would he be able to use his enhanced energy to create pills.
What if I sold it all to Keira? Nah, I don’t know if I can trust her completely just yet, and taking out so many pills at once physically would get me unwanted attention.
After much thinking, Derrick finally found a solution. "There is only one thing I can do."
He got up and walked to the front door, where he noticed three packages lying on the ground.
Can’t believe we all failed to hear the bell before. I wonder how long that guy had to wait.
Derrick took the three delivery boxes inside and placed them on the dining table before entering his room. Cassie was still asleep, for real this time, from what he could tell.
He powered on his pc and used his expert coding skills to hack into the government’s database and started looking for already registered alchemists.
If I cannot become an alchemist, who says I cannot use another one?
