Derrick’s body jerked back out of instinct as he barely dodged the swipe of claws across his face.

That was close.

He realized that he did not have time to mull over moral thoughts.

While he may have some reservations and morals, he did not know if his opponent felt the same.

Clank!

Screech!!

Sparks flew in all directions as Derrick used one of the chakrams to block the incoming claws to his torso and kicked Lucia away from himself.

Woosh!

But she had one thing that Derrick lacked.

Ariel’s advantage.

Lucia could fly around at low altitude.

"So you are finally paying attention to me." Lucia saw the focused look on his face and sneered in disdain. "Now that I have your attention. It is about time I end your miserable life."

Blood Manipulation.

She crossed her arms before her flat chest and whispered the words under her breath.

Several beads of blood escaped her mouth and formed crimson spheres behind her back.

Woosh!

Derrick did not wait for the attack to finish and started running.

He would be a fool to cross the distance between them without knowing what her skill was.

Crimson Shower.

Suddenly all the blood drops converged on him. All the blood drops were on him within a second like laser beams.

Derrick threw himself sideways.

The first blood drop pierced the stone where he had been standing. There was not even a splinter; it just shot right through it.

But he had no time to think. Another bullet made from blood was already on him.

Right at the last moment, Derrick twisted his body for it to only graze his shoulder.

But that alone was enough to draw blood.

The armor only activates when my life is in danger. I have to be careful.

Even though he did not have the armor, Derrick felt the wound heal. It was due to the lingering effect of the potion he had taken before entering this room.

With a light tap, Derrick did continuous back flips to dodge three more bullets.

"You are quite nimble for a human." Lucia hovered a few inches above the ground. Her wings flapped lazily while she watched him with an unhurried gaze.

She did not seem surprised or worried that Derrick had dodged her attacks.

"Good. I would hate to see you die so easily." She waved her hand, and ten more bloody orbs appeared in the air.

"Why? Are you getting attached to me?" Derrick chuckled wryly seeing her charge another attack so effortlessly.

"You are the first human I have seen in centuries. I have to savor the hunt."

Watching the little vampire licking the corner of her hands so sensually left Derrick with weird and complicated emotions.

Should I just kill her thinking she is just a small person instead of a child?

As if she could see through his thoughts, Lucia’s eyes narrowed sharply. "Are you thinking something very rude right now?"

"If you find me thinking of ways to kill you, rude, then yeah." Derrick lied through his teeth.

Crimson Shower.

"Liar." Lucia did not believe a single word he said.

Woosh!

Just when Derrick thought it would be beads of blood again, a thick crimson rod slammed into the space an inch away from his face and hurriedly backed away.

Woosh!

At the same time, he sent three flying blades directly at her face, but the vampire dodged with barely any effort.

She even sent the rest of the bloody rods flying at Derrick.

Thwack!

Thud!

Boom!

Time seemed to slow down as Derrick saw the attack coming for him.

Within a split second he made a decision and threw the Chakrams straight up ahead.

Unlike Lucia’s attacks, Derrick had no enhanced energy, so the moment his Chakram blades connected with the rod, they were tossed aside like swatting a mosquito.

System. You said it will be a fair fight! Derrick cursed the system as he dodged the first few rods.

Why don’t I just? Derrick did not even think much before picking one of the rods embedded in the ground and threw it back towards the other incoming one.

And it seemed to work.

One attack deflected the other.

"Did no one teach you? Do not touch what does not belong to you." Lucia snapped her fingers, and the blood rod in Derrick’s hand exploded, creating several small holes in his hands.

"Argh!!" Derrick felt a searing pain shooting through his hand. He could even feel something foreign trying to enter his bloodstream.

He did not think twice before taking a potion out from his system storage and pouring it on his hand.

Fortunately, his gamble worked, and the would-closed and the feeling of something prickling in his bloodstream vanished.

Derrick drank the rest and tossed the bottle aside.

"An innate talent?" Lucia muttered in the air. "No, you don’t have enhanced energy, so it has to be something else. A storage device? But what?"

Derrick took her moment of distraction and sent the remainder of his knives flying at her.

Even though she was distracted, Lucia slashed through the metals with her nails effortlessly.

At the same time Derrick had thrown one of the stone slabs directly at her.

It was the same slab that was struck when he dodged her attacks.

Just like the blades, she cursed the stone, but much to her shock, Derrick was gone.

She did not panic and turned her head slightly to see him running towards her throne.

Her eyes widened in panic.

Woosh!

"NO, you don’t." With all of her speed, Lucia rushed after him. But it was already too late.

Derrick had a head start, and the difference between their speeds was not that big.

The moment he rushed to the throne, Derrick ran around it and found a small chest lying there.

"Give that to me." Lucia suddenly came to a halt, seeing Derrick holding the chest.

Even though her voice was calm and unshaken, Derrick smirked as if he noticed something. "You have been trying to keep my attention away from it. So it must be something precious."

Derrick slowly opened the chest before her narrowed eyes.

Ba-Dump!

Inside the chest lay a live beating heart.
