Chapter 1709: Chapter 1705: Heaven’s Wrath
"Miss Song, you help me find an Emperor, and I’ll help you figure out a way to wipe out the Evil Sect." Chu Zhiyuan said.
"Wipe out the Evil Sect?" Song Wantao frowned.
Chu Zhiyuan smiled. "Aren’t you doing all this in order to eradicate the Evil Sect?"
"...I never thought of wiping out the Evil Sect." Song Wantao shook her head.
She wanted to accomplish the Immortal Evil Emperor; she still needed these Evil Sects to provide for her.
If they were all wiped out, she would be like water without a source, losing the root of her immortal power.
But if these Evil Sects continued to wreak havoc among the mortal world, their karma would be stained onto her.
It would eventually lead to her own demise.
That Emperor had been besieged and killed by the other Emperors precisely because of this.
She had to draw a lesson from it, to turn around the Evil Sects’ mindset so they would no longer harm the world, and honestly farm the land instead—that would be best.
Chu Zhiyuan smiled. "So Miss Song, you actually aren’t doing this to wipe out the Evil Sect?"
"It’s impossible to wipe out the Evil Sect." Song Wantao shook her head.
Chu Zhiyuan let out a wry laugh. "Seems I misunderstood."
How could the Evil Sect possibly be impossible to erase?
In the Little Outer Heaven, the Evil Sect there had already been thoroughly exterminated by him.
Song Wantao frowned. "Mr. Chu, you want to wipe out all the Evil Sect?"
Chu Zhiyuan said, "Miss Song, do you feel they don’t deserve to be wiped out?"
"...They do." Song Wantao sighed.
Chu Zhiyuan said, "Originally I didn’t have this level of ability, but now I do."
Song Wantao sighed. "But the Evil Sect is so vast, so many in number. Mr. Chu, even as an Emperor, I fear you can’t accomplish it."
Chu Zhiyuan smiled. "And why is that?"
"In the past there were also Emperors who wanted to eradicate the Evil Sect. Even several Emperors joining hands still failed."
"Which Emperors?" Chu Zhiyuan’s spirits lifted.
"The Four Symbols Emperor, the Sea Devouring Emperor, and the Qingyang Emperor—those three."
"No Emperor Dong Huan?"
"Emperor Dong Huan has long since fallen."
"Fallen?" Chu Zhiyuan was taken aback.
Song Wantao nodded with certainty. "He should have fallen more than ten thousand years ago."
"Fallen..." Chu Zhiyuan frowned.
Song Wantao said, "Even if an Emperor falls, there will still be traces left in the world, such as on Divine Statues, or on personal items, on Spiritual Treasures. Their aura will linger for a very long time, merging with the Spiritual nature, as if they were still alive."
"So it’s like this..." Chu Zhiyuan slowly nodded.
No wonder that after he destroyed the Divine Statue back then, he could no longer sense Emperor Dong Huan’s presence.
So he had fallen.
"What about the Four Symbols Emperor then?" Chu Zhiyuan asked.
"The Four Symbols Emperor should still be alive."
"Which other Emperors are still alive?"
"The Qingyang Emperor and the Sea Devouring Emperor have both fallen... It seems the Purple Sun Emperor is still alive." Song Wantao said, "Of those I know about, only these two Emperors are still living."
"Then Miss Song, whose inheritance do you carry?"
"...The Heavenly Observation Emperor." Song Wantao said slowly.
"I had thought it would be some Immortal Evil Emperor..."
"You’re right, the Heavenly Observation Emperor was indeed an Immortal Evil Emperor."
Chu Zhiyuan was puzzled. "Truly an Immortal Evil Emperor?"
Song Wantao nodded solemnly.
Chu Zhiyuan said, "I truly hadn’t expected that..."
From the name alone, one could tell his skill.
Heavenly Observation Emperor—Emperor Dong Huan had never dared to claim ’Observation of Heaven’.
This Heavenly Observation Emperor’s ability to observe the Heavenly Mechanism was likely even superior to Emperor Dong Huan’s.
No wonder that although Song Wantao’s cultivation was inferior to his, she was so adept at hiding the Heavenly Mechanism and perceiving it.
He simply hadn’t expected that this Emperor would actually be an Immortal Evil Emperor, someone originating from the Evil Sect.
Song Wantao said, "These Emperors often go to more remote and desolate places, ignoring worldly affairs."
"Why so?" Chu Zhiyuan asked. "Because they detest the ways of the world and only want to live a quiet life?"
Song Wantao said, "The turbid qi is too intense; they can’t bear it."
Chu Zhiyuan pondered.
Is the turbid qi too thick because their perception of nature’s spiritual energy has become more profound and subtle?
He shook his head.
Even then, there’d be no need to avoid people.
He recalled the changes after becoming an Emperor, and gradually confirmed that an Emperor’s sense of the human heart was much clearer.
He sighed softly and slowly nodded. "The human heart..."
The human heart is ugly, unfit to be looked at directly.
If one could gaze directly into human hearts, one would inevitably feel extreme disgust.
"For an Emperor, to be among crowds or to keep company with others is truly unbearable, even a kind of torment." Song Wantao shook her head. "Yet they can’t indulge themselves in killing as they please, or they will be struck by heavenly punishment."
"Heavenly punishment?" Chu Zhiyuan frowned.
Song Wantao said, "As one’s resonance with Heaven and Earth deepens, one draws closer to Heaven and Earth. The situation is very much like ’to serve by the Emperor’s side is to serve by a tiger’s side.’"
Chu Zhiyuan said slowly, "Heaven and Earth keep their eye on the Emperors and do not allow them to make mistakes? ...Is killing Evil Sect disciples also considered a mistake?"
"Heaven and Earth have Yin and Yang; the human heart has righteousness and evil—all are part of the ordained Heavenly numbers." Song Wantao shook her head. "Emperors eradicating the Evil Sect simply doesn’t work. Before they can destroy the Evil Sect, they themselves are destroyed first... so, Mr. Chu, your previous grand ambition cannot be realized."
She had actually not wanted to reveal this much.
But pressed again and again by Chu Zhiyuan’s questioning, she couldn’t help but speak it out.
There were too many secrets in this; to any Emperor, this information was of immeasurable value.
If Chu Zhiyuan didn’t have such strange abilities that compelled her to speak, she would never have let it slip.
Chu Zhiyuan slowly nodded. "So that’s how it is. To think that upon becoming an Emperor, one’s hands and feet are instead bound, and one is even less free."
"If one doesn’t kill at will, then naturally one can be free and at ease." Song Wantao said. "Mr. Chu, you must remember not to kill people casually."
Chu Zhiyuan said, "It’s fine not to kill; I can just cripple their cultivation."
Song Wantao’s expression stiffened slightly.
Chu Zhiyuan smiled. "That doesn’t count as overturning the Heavenly numbers, does it?"
"I don’t know." Song Wantao shook her head. "Perhaps Mr. Chu can try."
Chu Zhiyuan said, "In a few days I’ll go find some experts of the Evil Sect to try it on, cripple them, and see whether heavenly punishment falls."
Song Wantao frowned. "Mr. Chu, you’d best think it through carefully."
Chu Zhiyuan smiled. "One must get this clear; otherwise, always being bound hand and foot—being an Emperor would then be inferior to being a Spirit Venerable. I don’t believe it can be like that."
He himself was now Taiqing Realm and no longer an Emperor.
He had formed his own Heaven and Earth, complete in itself.
Heavenly punishment wouldn’t be able to find him.
His gain from this conversation with Song Wantao was enormous. He had not expected that there were so few Emperors, and that Emperors were so constrained.
Heavenly punishment hung above their heads like a Treasure Sword, about to fall at any moment.
As Emperors, they actually could not kill, not even kill disciples of the Evil Sect?
He could tell that Song Wantao was not lying.
But even if Song Wantao wasn’t lying, he still couldn’t wholly believe it.
What if what Song Wantao had obtained wasn’t the truth? She was, after all, still only a Spirit Venerable.
He himself had now stepped into Taiqing Realm, surpassed the Emperors, and could no longer verify these things.
But this also meant he no longer needed to heed heavenly punishment and could kill the Evil Sect to gain Merit, thereby enhancing the power of the Heavenly Sword.
Regardless of Realm, the Heavenly Sword is the Heavenly Sword, possessing its own unique might.
In the Little Outer Heaven, to oppose the Emperor’s Sword, one still needed the Heavenly Sword.
As someone in the Taiqing Realm, even if he could withstand the Emperor’s Sword, it would still be difficult for him to control the Emperor’s Sword.
A sufficiently powerful Heavenly Sword could directly suppress the Emperor’s Sword.
In the Little Outer Heaven, in the Prince Qing Mansion, no matter how capable he was, no matter how high his cultivation, he could not compare to being able to suppress the Emperor’s Sword and make his parents happy.
Solely for the sake of holding his head high in the Little Outer Heaven, it was worth the effort to strengthen the Heavenly Sword.
Seeing the look on Chu Zhiyuan’s face, Song Wantao’s heart sank slightly.
Her whole speech had not dispelled Chu Zhiyuan’s killing intent.
The Evil Sect was going to be unlucky!
Was he not afraid of heavenly punishment?
Song Wantao’s eyes narrowed slightly. She again operated her Miracle Technique, but before her eyes it was still a blur; she could not see clearly.
The suppression of a higher Realm truly could not be crossed. If she wanted to see his fate’s trajectory clearly, she could only hurry and ascend to Emperor as soon as possible.
But how difficult was it to accomplish the Emperor?
Otherwise there wouldn’t be so very few of them in this world.
Chu Zhiyuan clasped his fists. "Miss Song, we shall meet again."
"Wait." Song Wantao said.
