Imperial Treasure
Chapter 1786 - 1081: Prison
"But the fact that they actually locked the two of us together... does that mean they’re certain we absolutely can’t break through the Cultivation Level seal?"
"Maybe they just wanted to save on dungeon space."
"..."
Yen Yileng couldn’t refute Sui Yi’s utterly irresponsible guess.
Who knew what was crammed inside these Foreign Race brains anyway.
People thrown into a cage usually had two states—panicked and terrified of death.
And then there was the kind where Yen Yileng and Sui Yi were, staying calm—at worst, you die once.
Since neither of them was fussing, the place felt especially quiet. So quiet that they could vaguely hear noises from outside...
It was the sound of pain, horror, and miserable howls, or screams.
The stench at the tip of their noses thickened, reek of rot laced with a hint of fresh blood...
If this place were sealed, there shouldn’t be such a smell drifting in. Yen Yileng studied the surroundings... she stood up and quickly found the pierced openings of the wall carvings. Even with her Cultivation Level sealed, a Heavenly Venerate Level physique’s senses were still there; she smelled the strange odor seeping in from those carved eyes and mouths...
She walked up to a carved human statue, just about to take a closer look into its eyes...
And saw another eye.
An eye that had been rotting all along, crawling with Corpse Worms. In the depths of its pitch-black pupil something wriggled, and in an instant a slick tentacle shot out, lancing straight for Yen Yileng’s eyes...
But Yen Yileng was a Sword Cultivator after all; her speed and reflexes far surpassed others. She immediately retreated, and with a flick of her hand drew the sword at her waist. Couldn’t use energy?
The sword was still damn effective!
Slash!
The tentacle was cut clean through.
It hit the ground and writhed like a worm.
Yen Yileng had just steadied herself when suddenly, from behind... a hand grabbed her arm, yanked and spun her, then a Snapping Kick...
Bang!
A tongue that had shot out from a hole behind her was kicked to pulp, meat splattering onto the floor.
Following the spin, Yen Yileng pressed down on Sui Yi’s arm to steady her body. A clean, refreshing scent reached her nose; she couldn’t help but frown, just as Sui Yi let go of her.
"This cage is kind of interesting."
At Sui Yi’s words, Yen Yileng also noticed that the originally artsy wall carvings now had holes sprouting tentacles or tongues one after another. The stench of rot was a hundred times heavier than before, the air itself seemed sticky...
Forget women—any ordinary male Heavenly Venerate would be gagging right now...
Yen Yileng’s brows knit, but she didn’t show much reaction. She was a Sword Cultivator; her will was very firm.
She saw Sui Yi not moving, and those tentacles weren’t moving either, so she understood a bit and kept her hand resting on her sword without acting.
Until footsteps sounded outside.
The Stone Gate opened, and a man walked in. This man... his appearance was hard to describe; most striking was that beneath his hem there weren’t legs, but octopus-like tendrils squirming across the floor, oozing slime... smearing it everywhere.
The stench got worse.
But he was strong. Frighteningly strong.
"Poison Vein Clan Emperor?"
The man smiled faintly, crocodile-claw-like hand pointing through the air at Sui Yi.
"You’re impressive, truly impressive. You’ve even cultivated an Ice Magic Sprite, and your Formation is that powerful, close to perfection. If you one day manage to create an Array Magic Sprite, you might be able to kill Supremes like us across ranks."
Sui Yi: "You flatter me."
The Poison Vein Emperor paced in a circle around the two of them. "You’re that strong and that knowledgeable. Keeping you alive in my hands without killing you is very unwise. But right now I’m still not sure who you are....."
Sui Yi: "Planning to squeeze out our value, huh?"
The Poison Vein Emperor’s eyes narrowed: "Of course... the two of you are very valuable... For example, you can submit to me, just like that Huang Sha fellow.... That’s your value—talent is rare everywhere. And as for your value..."
He pointed at Yen Yileng. "Jie Jie, that woman Supreme Yun keeps opposing me over and over. With you, she’ll die in my hands soon enough..."
Normally speaking, when a villain says something like that, the captive female character is supposed to righteously denounce him as delusional blah blah blah...
But Yen Yileng didn’t have that kind of saccharine setup. A prisoner was a prisoner; no matter what the other side said, the advantage was theirs. Saying more would only anger him.
So she kept silent.
Leaving the right to speak to the clearly much stronger Mr. Sacrificial Wine.
