Chapter 2024 - 1533: The Elderly and Feeble Dali, The Question of Fate! What Is Fate?

But at some crucial final moment, the Emperor made a move, so not only did his Realm break through, he also managed to withdraw from the chaotic time-space with his whole body intact.

Of course, it can also be understood as his strength breaking through, and then relying on his own power to escape the chaotic time-space. Perhaps the chaotic time-space was shattered by the power after his breakthrough, and that was why time reversal occurred; consequently, along with the time reversal, he lost part of the memories of what had happened before. However, this possibility is exceedingly slim.

"Have you actually met the Emperor or not? Don’t you know yourself? Rumor has it that as long as you pass the eighth floor, you can meet the Emperor. By that standard, you should count as having succeeded..."

Dugu Qiubai stared fixedly at the shifting expression on Jiang Dali’s face, and asked suspiciously.

Jiang Dali was just about to speak when he suddenly sensed that the Emperor’s Seal in his mind had become somewhat abnormal. His consciousness brushed against it, and within his Spirit there arose a strange feeling.

"Fate..."

The instant he touched the Emperor’s Seal, these two words naturally emerged in Jiang Dali’s mind, leaving him somewhat at a loss—two words he couldn’t quite grasp: "Fate... what does that mean?"

Why would the Emperor’s Seal suddenly contain a message infused with these two words?

Jiang Dali couldn’t help but raise his head, his gaze falling upon the thick dome above, suffusing gentle yellow radiance. Feeling wave after wave of tremendous pressure transmitted from the Emperor’s body, his brows gradually furrowed.

Could it be that he had, in fact, already met the Emperor?

Then did he actually communicate with the Emperor, and if so, what exactly did they talk about?

Could it be that their exchange involved some unspeakable secret, or that because of time reversal, the contents of that conversation were also taken away by the reversed time, while the Emperor’s Seal—capable of suppressing a concave pocket of space—likewise pinned down time itself, leaving behind only the message of these two words, "Fate"?

All kinds of guesses flashed through his Heart Body in an instant. Sensing Dugu Qiubai’s questioning gaze, Jiang Dali gathered up his scattered thoughts, looked at Dugu Qiubai, let his eyes linger briefly on his clearly severed left arm and likewise fractured left leg, then said:

"Who did you encounter on the eighth floor?"

Dugu Qiubai’s eyes flickered, and he said coldly, "Qin Shi Huang!"

He paused, then added pointedly, "Two thousand years ago—Qin Shi Huang who should have only recently lost to the Emperor."

Jiang Dali was taken aback, then immediately smiled. "Then your Luck wasn’t bad. At least you didn’t run into Qin Shi Huang in his peak period."

Dugu Qiubai’s expression chilled. "That’s still stronger than the current Qin Shi Huang."

"You’re wrong!"

Jiang Dali shook his head, slowly withdrawing his power and exiting the twelvefold Li Wuqiong State of his Heart Body. Then, using Illusion Soul Power, he conjured a set of clothes and said, "The current Qin Shi Huang has devoured Phoenix Blood and half of the Azure Dragon Essence Blood. As long as he doesn’t leave Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum, his strength should be comparable to eighty percent of his peak period. He’s not so easy to deal with."

Dugu Qiubai shifted his injured arm and said, "Since he’s not easy to deal with, you still plan to go looking for trouble with him?"

Jiang Dali nodded, looking around at the utterly empty Treasure Hall of the eighth floor, and said, "It’s not that I’m going to look for trouble with him; it’s that he’s already brought trouble upon himself. There are some things I have to do."

What he was referring to, of course, was forcing Qin Shi Huang to spit out the Phoenix Essence Blood and Azure Dragon Essence Blood.

Only then could the Fire Phoenix be fully resurrected, only then could the Azure Dragon Essence be healed, and only then could the plan to resurrect the Four Spirits and carry out the Purification of the Sky proceed normally.

Yet to force an Eternal Emperor to vomit up the fat he has already swallowed into his belly is, of course, an extremely difficult task.

But some things, even if difficult, must still be done. Previously, Jiang Dali hadn’t felt this particular compulsion; now, however, he strangely and faintly felt that he needed to do it—as if in the unseen... his intuitive senses had vaguely grasped some cause that could not be put into words...

Perhaps he really had already met the Emperor.

Perhaps, regarding Fate, he needed to act along that intuitive feeling in order to obtain a true answer...
