Infinite Cashback: My God-Tier Cashback System

Chapter 321: I Didn't Sign Up For This!

  • Next Chapter

Ten minutes earlier in the SUV,

“Do you mean Brobbey McArthur?”

Vivienne turned toward Luca, a hint of confusion on her face. The name was familiar to anyone who knew San Fierro’s business circles.

Brobbey was well known for his logistics company, but rumors had been circulating for some time that he was involved in smuggling illegal goods and drugs into the city. Nothing had ever been proven, however, so the allegations remained just that: rumors.

“Yeah, I think that’s what he called himself.” Luca frowned slightly, trying to recall the man’s name. He described Brobbey’s appearance and what had happened at Eclipse Club, allowing Vivienne to piece everything together.

“I didn’t expect you to have crossed paths with Brobbey of all people.” She shook her head. “Still, finding him shouldn’t be difficult.”

“Why’s that?”

“His company usually stores buses and other vehicles in San Fierro. He also owns a few warehouses that have been abandoned for years. Most of them are practically falling apart, but there’s one in the dockside district where people still report seeing activity.”

Luca’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“All right, Justina.” He turned toward her, a cold glint in his eyes. “Narrow the search to every camera along the routes leading to the dockside district. We’re looking for that black van.”

“Already done, sir.”

Justina finally lifted her hands from the keyboard and turned her laptop slightly so the others could see the footage.

“I’ve located the vehicle. It disappears from view after making a turn near the district, but based on its route, I’m confident it headed toward that warehouse.”

“Good work.” Luca looked at Rico. “Can you send a search team there?”

Rico immediately raised a hand to the earpiece beside his ear, pressing the communication device.

“Do you read me? Deploy the drones toward the dockside district, four o’clock from our current position.”

The response came through his earpiece moments later.

“Roger that.”

Within seconds, several drones were dispatched toward the designated area. The convoy picked up speed, the black SUVs moving swiftly through the streets toward the docks.

Luca finally allowed himself to relax a little.

If this was indeed the same Brobbey he’d dealt with at Eclipse Club, then the situation shouldn’t be too difficult to resolve.

He turned toward Vivienne and brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face.

“My vixen, you’re amazing.”

A faint blush crept onto her cheeks at his praise.

“My husband, let’s not celebrate until Amelia is safely back with us.”

“You’re right.”

Luca turned his attention to Rico again.

“Are the drones equipped with enough firepower?”

“Not enough to kill anyone, sir, but they can incapacitate or injure their targets. Combined with their stealth capabilities, they’re ideal for this kind of operation.” Rico paused briefly before adding, “If necessary, we can also deploy armed drones for direct strikes.”

“That won’t be necessary. We’re there to bring Amelia back, not start a shootout.”

“Understood. By the time we arrive, the drones should have neutralized most of the guards. All we’ll need to do is secure the area and extract Amelia.”

Luca nodded, though a lingering uneasiness remained.

Something about the entire situation still didn’t sit right with him. Brobbey hadn’t struck him as particularly clever when they’d met at Eclipse Club. More importantly, the man had been in no condition to forget what Luca looked like after that beating, yet Luca couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this kidnapping than a simple act of revenge.

‘Could there be an unexpected third party involved?’

He leaned back, his expression growing colder as he considered the possibilities.

“Can we capture Brobbey alive as well? I’d like to teach him a few lessons before asking him some questions.”

Rico glanced at Luca through the rearview mirror. One look at his employer’s expression was enough to understand what he meant.

“Yes, sir.”

…

“What do you mean we’ve got intruders?”

Brobbey’s voice rose sharply as he stared at the frightened subordinate standing before him.

“Where are they now?”

“I don’t know, sir! We’ve lost contact with the men guarding the entrance. They might have already been taken out.” The henchman swallowed nervously. “What should we do?”

“Tch!”

Brobbey’s expression darkened.

“Send everyone out to find those intruders and capture them!”

He turned toward the room where Amelia was being held and pulled the door open.

“You, take her to another warehouse through the back entrance. I’ll meet you there.”

With that, he started walking in the opposite direction.

“Sir, where are you going?”

“Just follow my orders! I’m leaving through the abandoned underground pipeline.”

Brobbey quickened his pace, clearly in no mood to entertain further questions.

The henchman hurried into the room, ready to drag Amelia out before the intruders could reach them.

But the moment he stepped inside, he froze.

The room was empty.

“What? Impossible!”

His voice cracked as he stared around in disbelief.

Then he heard footsteps behind him.

He barely had time to turn his head.

BANG!

A wooden plank slammed across his back, shattering into pieces from the impact.

The man cried out and dropped to his knees, pain shooting through his body.

Amelia didn’t waste the opportunity.

She darted past him and rushed out of the room. She had overheard the conversation between the men and knew she might not get another chance to escape.

The moment she’d heard them discussing their next move, she’d slipped behind the door and found a loose piece of wood lying in the corner. Then she’d waited, holding her breath until the perfect moment presented itself.

Now, with her attacker temporarily incapacitated, she ran.

She had no idea where the back exit was, but she had to try. Her instincts guided her down the corridor as she hurried through the unfamiliar warehouse.

Behind her, the henchman slowly recovered. Realizing what had happened, he scrambled to his feet.

“That little devil!”

He immediately took off after her.

Amelia ran as fast as she could, desperately trying to put more distance between them. She had gained a decent head start, but she couldn’t push herself as hard as she wanted to. She was pregnant, and she couldn’t afford to overexert herself.

Her pursuer, on the other hand, had a clear physical advantage. Although the blow to his back had slowed him down, he was still faster than her.

Before long, a bright patch of light appeared ahead.

The exit!

Hope surged through Amelia as she ran toward it. But by the time she reached the final stretch, the man was already close behind her.

‘Even if I make it outside, what then?’

She had hoped someone might be nearby to help her, but she had no way of knowing whether anyone would be there.

Just as she reached the exit, the henchman caught up and grabbed her wrist.

“You damn bitch!” he snarled, tightening his grip. “I don’t even care what Mr. McArthur told me anymore. I’ll beat you right here, right now!”

Before he could do anything else, the roar of an engine cut through the air.

A black executive SUV pulled up beside them, its headlights illuminating the entrance. The window rolled down slowly.

The moment the henchman saw the face inside, all the color drained from his own.

Luca Hale!

“Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck!”

His voice broke into a panicked stammer. He immediately released Amelia and tried to run.

“I didn’t sign up for this shit!”

Unfortunately for him, he hadn’t even taken a few steps before two men stationed near the exit intercepted him.

A sharp electric crackle followed.

The henchman collapsed to the ground as the taser took effect.
