Chapter 243: 243 | My Bookkeeper is a Kuudere and My Maintenance Girl is a Genki Powerhouse
A new voice. Jordan looked up to find a woman standing in the kitchen doorway.
Rina Sato was everything Ayaka and Kaori weren’t. Where they were warm and welcoming, she was cool and contained. Her features were sharp, almost severe, framed by dark hair cut in a precise bob. She wore glasses that caught the light, partially obscuring eyes that assessed Jordan with the detachment of someone evaluating a tax return. Her outfit was professional, a fitted blouse and pencil skirt that would have looked at home in any corporate office, hugging curves that the System had been very specific about documenting.
D-cup. Smaller than the others but somehow no less striking in context.
"I am Rina Sato." She bowed with mechanical precision, a movement so crisp it could have been measured with a protractor. Nothing flowing about it, no warmth. Just efficient execution of social protocol. "Bookkeeper and Financial Officer. I have prepared a comprehensive overview of the establishment’s financial status for your review."
She placed a tablet on the table in front of him with the careful deliberacy of someone handling a legal document. The screen showed charts and graphs that Jordan’s business economics classes had actually prepared him to understand. Revenue trends, profit margins, cash flow projections, all displayed in a color-coded system that probably had its own internal logic.
"Revenue has increased twelve percent year-over-year across all service categories. Operating margins remain healthy at twenty-three percent, well above industry standard of seventeen. We maintain zero outstanding debts and a reserve fund equivalent to six months of operating expenses, which exceeds the recommended three-month minimum."
Jordan scrolled through the data. Everything was organized with the kind of obsessive attention to detail that suggested Rina’s brain operated in spreadsheet format. Every chart had annotations explaining hospitality industry context. Every projection included best-case, worst-case, and most likely scenarios. There were footnotes. Color-coded footnotes.
"This is... thorough."
"Accuracy is essential." Rina’s voice carried the same temperature as her assessment. Room temperature. Neutral. Professional. "I have also prepared quarterly projections and identified seven potential areas for operational optimization. Would you like me to review them now, or would you prefer to examine the data independently first?"
Her glasses caught the light again. Jordan couldn’t tell if she was genuinely asking or testing his competence.
"You really take your job seriously."
"I take everything seriously, Master Jordan. It is my nature."
Something about the way she said it made Jordan think she wasn’t just talking about accounting.
Footsteps echoed from the hallway. Rapid footsteps, growing louder with obvious enthusiasm.
"Is he here? Ayaka-san said he arrived! Where is—"
A blur of motion burst through the kitchen doorway. Jordan had approximately half a second to register short brown hair, a bright smile, and athletic curves before the blur skidded to a stop directly in front of him.
"Master! Welcome to Hada no Yu!"
Tomoe Ishikawa practically vibrated with energy. She was shorter than the others, maybe five foot four, with a compact, muscular build that spoke of actual physical labor rather than gym memberships. Her hair was cropped short in a practical cut, her face open and friendly, her grin so wide it threatened to split her face in two. She wore work clothes, practical pants and a tank top that showed off toned arms and generous curves that seemed to defy physics given her athletic frame.
F-cup on that body was honestly kind of terrifying.
"I’m Tomoe! I handle maintenance and grounds! Ayaka-san said you’d be inspecting the facilities so I double-checked everything this morning and the springs are perfect and the gardens are trimmed and I fixed that squeaky floorboard in the west wing and—"
"Tomoe." Ayaka’s voice cut through the torrent of words. "Perhaps allow Master Jordan to breathe."
"Right! Sorry!" Tomoe took exactly one step back. "I just got excited. We’ve been waiting forever to meet you and now you’re finally here and you’re taller than I expected and—"
"Tomoe."
"Breathing! I’m breathing!" Tomoe made a visible effort to calm herself. The grin remained at full intensity. "It’s really nice to meet you, Master!"
"Nice to meet you too." Jordan found himself smiling despite his confusion. Tomoe’s energy was infectious, like being around a golden retriever in human form. "You maintain the whole place yourself?"
"Yup! Well, mostly. We have contractors for the big stuff but I handle daily maintenance. Filters for the springs, garden work, repairs, cleaning. Whatever needs doing!" She flexed, bicep visibly bulging beneath her skin. "I’m stronger than I look!"
"She once carried a full water heater up three flights of stairs by herself," Rina said flatly. "It was concerning."
"It was efficient!"
"It was reckless."
"You’re just jealous because I didn’t need help."
"I am never jealous. Jealousy is irrational."
"That’s exactly what a jealous person would say!"
Jordan watched the exchange with growing amusement. The staff dynamics reminded him of Chloe and Kumiko, the way different personalities bounced off each other in ways that seemed combative but were actually comfortable.
"There’s one more staff member, right?" Jordan checked his mental roster. "Yumi?"
The effect was immediate. Tomoe’s grin softened. Kaori made a small sound of sympathy. Ayaka’s knowing smile gained a new dimension.
"Yumi-chan is..." Tomoe glanced toward the door. "She’s probably hiding."
"Hiding?"
"She gets nervous around new people. Really nervous. Like, one time a delivery guy asked her a question and she didn’t talk for three hours nervous."
"She is... delicate," Ayaka said carefully. "But exceedingly dedicated to her duties. I will introduce you when she feels ready."
"No rush." Jordan finished his tea and stood. The food and drink had settled his stomach, but his mind still raced with questions he didn’t know how to ask. "This is a lot to take in."
"Understandably so, Master." Ayaka gestured toward the hallway. "Shall I show you to the private bath? You mentioned your gym session earlier. A soak in the mineral springs would be beneficial for muscle recovery."
Jordan thought about declining. He should go home. Tell Chloe and Kumiko what had happened. Figure out what owning a hot springs resort actually meant for his life.
But his body ached from Maya’s punches. His muscles screamed for relief. And the steam rising from the bathing area he’d glimpsed earlier had looked incredibly inviting.
"Yeah. Okay. A bath sounds good."
"Excellent." Ayaka’s smile widened, and something in her eyes sparkled with an emotion Jordan couldn’t name. "Please follow me, Master. I will ensure your first experience at Hada no Yu is... memorable."
