Chapter 300: Chapter 300: World Quest, Continuous Bone-breaking Hammer

’These people must have come into contact with Seraphina Sullivan, maybe even traveled with her for a while.’

Sean Chandler had always been confident in his intuition.

Lily Holloway saw Samson Sharp and the other two.

Her suppressed rage instantly erupted when she saw Charlotte Carter hiding behind Larry Olsen, her eyes darting around nervously.

Lily Holloway charged forward. Before anyone could react, she swung her arm wide and slapped Charlotte Carter hard across the face!

"SLAP!"

The crisp sound of the slap was exceptionally loud.

"You little bitch!" Lily Holloway shrieked, her voice sharp with agitation as she pointed at Charlotte Carter’s nose.

"Wasn’t it enough to scheme and get your own boyfriend killed? You wanted to get me killed to cover for you too? I bet you didn’t expect this—the heavens were watching, and I was lucky enough to survive! Ptui!"

As she cursed, Lily Holloway tried to keep hitting her, venting all her fury from being betrayed and used as a shield.

Charlotte Carter was stunned by the blow, then clutched her face and started to wail.

"Ms. Holloway! Ms. Holloway, you’ve misunderstood! I didn’t! I was just so scared at the time, it was an accident!"

Brandon Barton, Heath Summers, and Victor Sharp watched the sudden drama unfold with blank expressions.

They had seen plenty of this sort of internal team conflict and backstabbing in dungeons before, so it barely registered with them.

Just as Larry Olsen tried to step in and break up the fight, and Brandon Barton’s squad was preparing to leave the troubled scene...

[DING—!]

A crisp yet grand system notification, without any warning, rang out simultaneously in the minds of all Players in the [Aberrant Radiation] dungeon!

[A Player has been detected to have successfully destroyed five or more radiation sources. Hidden condition met. Special World Quest triggered!]

[Special Quest: The Source of Purification]

[Quest Details: Destroy the special "radiation source" items scattered throughout the world. Every radiation source dealt with will slightly lower the overall environmental radiation level of the Aberrant Radiation dungeon.]

[Quest Reward: Based on individual/team contribution, an additional "World’s Boon" will be awarded upon settlement.]

[Note: Saving the world might also mean saving yourself.]

The cold system notification echoed at the same moment in the minds of every Player who had entered the [Aberrant Radiation] dungeon!

At that moment, everyone—from Brandon Barton’s squad, fresh from battle, to the quarreling Lily Holloway and Charlotte Carter, and even the Players struggling for survival in other corners of the dungeon—froze simultaneously.

When the system’s voice faded, they all stared in shock and disbelief at the description of this suddenly triggered, momentous special quest.

...

At almost the same time, Seraphina Sullivan, far away in another area of the dungeon, also clearly heard the system notification echoing in her mind.

She couldn’t help but pause, a flash of surprise in her eyes.

’A Special World Quest? I can’t believe taking care of a few radiation sources could trigger something like this...’

Her gaze shifted to the side.

She saw Flora, which had swelled another size larger, using its massive maw full of Sharp Teeth to vigorously tear apart and devour the corpse of a giant toad. The creature was the size of a small truck, its skin an ominous purplish-black, and a visibly distorted Force Field emanated from its body.

This mutated toad had been terrifyingly strong. Not only did it possess immense Power and astonishing Bouncing ability, but it could also spew a viscous fluid mixed with intense radiation and a Highly Poisonous substance from the pustules on its back.

To defeat it, Seraphina Sullivan had personally stepped in to keep it occupied.

Chubbs used its Steel Feathers for ranged harassment and to break its defenses, Tubbs continuously seared it with flames, and finally, Flora seized an opportunity to tightly bind it with tough vines, draining its stamina until they were finally able to take it down.

The reason for the tough battle was that inside the toad’s body, Seraphina Sullivan had seen through her [Analysis Glasses] a fist-sized [Mutated Meteorite] embedded in its heart!

This meteorite fragment had almost completely fused with the toad’s life core.

It had turned the creature into a mobile, biological radiation source that constantly emitted contamination! 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

This was the fifth radiation source Seraphina Sullivan had dealt with in the days since she entered the dungeon.

Relying on Simon Holt’s map-related Talent, which was practically a "human radar," they had efficiently located many radiation sources over the past few days.

After successfully dealing with the second radiation source, Seraphina Sullivan had confirmed that the "special Treasure Chest" reward from [Side Quest 2] could only be obtained once per Player.

Dealing with subsequent ones would not grant the Treasure Chest reward again.

Although she was a little disappointed, Seraphina Sullivan soon discovered other benefits to clearing the radiation sources.

These [Mutated Meteorites], containing highly concentrated radiation Energy, were like the perfect "supplements" and "catalysts" for special pets like Flora and Tubbs.

After absorbing the Energy within them, their Power, size, and even some of their Abilities had been significantly enhanced.

Therefore, even without the extra Treasure Chest reward, Seraphina Sullivan was happy to continue "cleaning up" these radiation sources to enhance her pets’ strength, turning the sources into nourishment for them.

Seraphina Sullivan just never expected that after successfully dealing with the fifth radiation source—which was this very giant toad containing the meteorite being devoured by Flora—she would unexpectedly meet some hidden condition and directly trigger a [Special World Quest] that affected every Player in the entire dungeon!

Watching Flora excitedly devour the toad’s corpse and seeing the faint increase in the Energy fluctuations coming from its body, Seraphina Sullivan became lost in thought.

This unexpectedly triggered quest seemed to have pushed her into a position where she could influence the entire dungeon’s outcome.

Simon Holt dropped the giant metal hammer, which was almost as tall as he was, with a CLANG.

He plopped onto the ground, panting heavily and wiping the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.

Although his main role in the battle had been to run interference and land finishing blows, it had still taken a lot out of him.

He didn’t show the slightest bit of dissatisfaction or anger when Seraphina Sullivan directly took the [Mutated Meteorite] fragment that was emitting an ominous Energy.

He was well aware of his place.

His ability to survive, let alone get stronger, was entirely thanks to him clinging to this powerhouse.

Besides, the imposing giant hammer in his hands right now had only been obtained thanks to Seraphina Sullivan.

That’s right!

When Seraphina Sullivan was dealing with the second radiation source, her attention drawn by the powerful guardian monster, Simon Holt seized the opportunity and risked rushing in to land a final blow.

He had barely managed to "participate" in and "complete" [Side Quest 2]!

The system judged that he had completed the quest and rewarded him with a [Special Treasure Chest].

And the only item he got from the Treasure Chest was this weapon called the [Continuous Bone-breaking Hammer]!

[Continuous Bone-breaking Hammer]

[Ability One: Combo: After successfully hitting a target, there is a high chance to trigger an instant three-hit combo, dealing stacking damage.

Ability Two: Bone-breaking: Successfully striking the same spot five consecutive times in a short period will guarantee a "Bone-breaking" Effect, with a very high chance of causing severe trauma such as fractures and breaks.

Ability Three: Enlarge and Shrink: The Continuous Bone-breaking Hammer can be enlarged to a three-meter-long great hammer or shrunk to a twenty-centimeter-long small hammer for easy carrying, according to the user’s will.]
