Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 527: Blood Ancestor, The Battle Begins
Chapter 527: Chapter 527: Blood Ancestor, The Battle Begins
A pool of blood-red water.
The water was as thick as flowing blood, bubbling and gurgling. With every pop, a sickly sweet, coppery stench was released.
Countless monsters roamed within the blood pool.
Some were half-submerged, their hideous heads breaking the surface.
Some swam along the top, leaving bloody wakes behind them.
Others were humanoid figures formed from the blood water itself. They walked slowly through the pool, each step sending out ripples.
And in the very center of the blood pool, a reef jutted out from the depths.
A person was reclining against it.
It was a woman.
At least, she looked like a woman.
She had a stunningly beautiful face, her features so exquisite they seemed like a sculpted work of art.
Her skin was as white as snow, a stark, eye-catching contrast to the blood-red background.
Her eyes were closed, her long lashes casting faint shadows on her face.
A mane of blood-red hair cascaded down, nearly touching the surface of the pool.
She wore a blood-red robe, her bare feet resting lightly on the reef, her toes translucent and crystalline.
She leaned there in silence, like a sleeping statue.
But everyone knew—
that was no statue.
That was the Blood Ancestor.
And right now, the scene surrounding the blood pool was even more terrifying than the monsters roaming within it.
Seraphina Sullivan and the others looked past the pool to a clearing on the shore.
A group of people was gathered there.
Not monsters, but humans.
At least, they looked human.
They wore simple leather armor and cloth garments, wielding various weapons. With fanatical and devout expressions, they were gathered around a massive, blood-colored rock, performing some kind of bizarre ritual.
"What are those people doing?" Flora Sullivan asked in a hushed voice, her eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and vigilance.
No one could answer her.
But in the next second, they all saw.
From the crowd, several burly men shoved forward a person who was bound hand and foot.
The person’s clothes were ragged, their body covered in wounds, but their eyes still burned with defiance and rage.
He was forced to his knees before the blood-colored rock. He struggled desperately, but he couldn’t break free from his bonds.
"I saved you! I fucking saved you, and this is how you treat me?!"
The man roared himself hoarse, his voice filled with despair and disbelief.
"I saved your lives from the mouths of Demonic Beasts! I gave you food! I helped treat your wounds! And you... you repay my kindness like this?!"
No one answered him.
The Native People just stared at him, their expressions blank, their eyes as cold as if they were looking at a lamb for the slaughter.
Seraphina Sullivan’s pupils contracted slightly.
’A Player.’
The person they had bound was a Player.
Seraphina Sullivan used her Eye of Resume to investigate.
Level 3.
But even so, he had been subdued by these Native People.
Not by force, but by betrayal—caught off guard when his trust was trampled upon.
"Do it," the lead Native Person said flatly.
A blade flashed.
Blood spurted.
The Player’s head rolled to the ground. His headless body twitched a few times before collapsing into a pool of its own blood.
The blood flowed along the ground, slowly trickling into the blood-red pool.
"Great Blood Ancestor!" The leader of the Native People raised his hands high, shouting fanatically toward the center of the pool. "We have offered you the blood you desire!
Please grant us the Blood of Awakening! Grant us Power! Allow us to survive in this world!"
As his voice fell,
the beautiful woman in the center of the pool opened her eyes.
But in the next second, her body suddenly melted—like a blood-red wax figure thrown into a blazing fire, it instantly lost its form.
Her fair skin, beautiful face, and slender limbs all dissolved into flowing blood, merging with the pool beneath her.
In her place was a massive tide of blood.
The tide had no fixed form. At times it coalesced into a great wave, then it would become a vortex, then Split into countless tiny droplets that danced and swirled in the air.
It moved as if it were alive, slowly writhing in the center of the pool and emanating a suffocating pressure.
A single drop of blood separated from the tide and slowly floated toward the shore.
The drop was a vibrant, glistening crimson, emitting an uncanny red light. It drifted before the leader of the Native People and hovered in mid-air, trembling gently.
The Native Person trembled with excitement. With shaking hands, he cupped the drop of blood and carefully placed it into a special jade vial he carried.
"Thank you, Ancestral Witch! Thank you, Ancestral Witch!"
He and his companions fell to their knees, kowtowing frantically toward the blood pool.
Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze fell upon the tide of blood.
’Eye of Resume, activate.’
But in the next instant, it felt as if a red-hot iron needle had been stabbed into her brain. A searing pain instantly swept through her entire body!
[Identification Failed!]
[Target Level too high. Unable to read complete information!]
[Target has detected your observation!]
Seraphina Sullivan’s expression changed drastically.
’This is bad!’
In the center of the blood pool, the tide of blood suddenly began to boil!
Countless bubbles surged up from the depths, and the entire pool churned madly as if it had been set on fire.
The blood tide coalesced into a massive, blood-red skull—it had no facial features, only a gigantic mouth that split open from ear to ear, filled with razor-sharp fangs.
A terrifying shriek resounded between heaven and earth!
"Enemies—!"
"Die—!"
The voice didn’t come from any single direction but boomed from all around, so loud it made one’s eardrums ache and one’s very soul tremble.
The next second, the blood pool exploded!
Countless blades of blood shot out from the pool. Each one was incredibly sharp, whistling through the air toward Seraphina Sullivan’s and the others’ hiding spot with enough force to slice through anything!
"Dammit! We’ve been discovered!"
Seraphina Sullivan barked a command, instantly raising the Universal Sniper Rifle in her hands. The muzzle flashed with light—
"Engage!"
Before her words had even faded, Dexter Luther was already in motion.
He took a step forward and pushed his hands out, and a massive Energy Shield instantly materialized before him!
The shield was thick and solid, its surface shimmering with faint, glowing patterns as it enveloped the entire squad.
"THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD—!"
The blades of blood rained down on the shield, each impact setting off a deafening roar.
The shield trembled violently, ripples spreading across its surface, but it managed to hold firm against the first wave of attacks.
Dexter Luther gritted his teeth, veins popping on his forehead as he frantically poured out the Energy within his body to maintain the shield’s stability.
"I can hold it! Go, now!" he roared.
Paul Payne didn’t hesitate.
He clasped his hands together and his lips moved slightly. A mysterious energy spread out from his body, enveloping every teammate.
[Mysterious Guardian]!
A faint golden light appeared on everyone, a protective power that could resist the corrosion of Demonization and some attacks.
With this layer of protection, the team’s chances of survival in the blood pool’s environment increased dramatically.
Seraphina Sullivan raised her sniper rifle, aiming at the madly churning tide of blood in the center of the pool.
