Chapter 87: The Atlantians are gone
Chapter 87: The Atlantians are gone
The dark, crushing depths of the ocean collapsed completely upon the ancient capital along with all the other cities. The grand architecture of Atlantis, which had stood proud for millennia, crumbled into formless debris under the unimaginable pressure of the sea. It was a watery grave for the millions of lower class citizens left behind to drown in the dark.
However, far above the collapsing ruins, the ruling class had already fled. Fifteen massive, high tech fleets cut through the deep waters. These vessels contained over ten thousand nobles, carrying the remaining wealth and sacred historical records of their dying empire.
Inside the flagship, the atmosphere was heavy but filled with a lingering malice. One of the emperor’s elite guards stepped forward, bowing deeply before the golden throne.
"Your majesty, the humans on the surface are probably prepared for a battle. Our scout indicates high military readiness. What should we do? The ten surviving sages are in serious condition and they would take at least several years to fully recover."
The emperor sat with his hands resting on the armrests, his expression devoid of any remorse for his destroyed city. "We will proceed along with the original plan. Let the beast tide happen. They need to suffer for what they have brought upon us."
"As you wish, your majesty," the guard replied.
The guard pulled out a sleek, ancient remote control device. He did not hesitate to press the central button.
The moment the button was pressed, an array of ancient devices buried deep within the surface forests activated simultaneously. They began to release a high frequency sound wave. This frequency was completely imperceptible to human ears, but it was deeply disturbing to monsters.
Deep inside the surface forests, the monsters grew wildly agitated. Their eyes turned bloodshot, and they let out terrifying roars that shook the very ground. "Roar!"
Countless beasts started to stampede blindly, their chaotic movements causing instant dungeon breaks across multiple human regions.
The Atlantian nobles looked at each other. They began laughing together, enjoying the sudden destruction of the humans. They decided to stay safe in the deep ocean for the time being, letting the humans exhaust themselves before they launched their final attack.
But their laughter did not last long. Suddenly, something enormous materialized directly in front of the fifteen fleets.
The creature was so incredibly vast that the entire Atlantian fleet, which contained thousands of nobles and heavy weaponry, looked like fifteen tiny ants floating in front of a massive shark.
It possessed two colossal dark wings that seemed to blot out the ocean light, and four distinct horns grew from its head. The horns gleamed with a terrifying crimson red color.
It looked somewhat like a dragon, resembling a mythical beast from ancient lore, but it was fundamentally different. It was something else entirely. It was a creature of absolute nightmare, looking down at the fifteen fleets with a perfectly calm, uncaring gaze.
The emperor, alongside all the remaining sages, felt every single hair on their bodies stand up. An overwhelming dread gripped them. This thing was a presence they could not comprehend.
"Use the cannon right now!" the emperor roared. His every instinct was screaming, warning him of impending, total doom.
The elite technicians acted instantly. The planetary annihilation cannon fired its apocalyptic ray of destruction through the water. The beam vaporized the ocean instantly, rushing toward the massive entity.
The creature saw the blinding beam coming toward it. It did not even attempt to move. Its eyes remained cold as its entire body lit up with a dark energy. A ray of similar annihilating power erupted from its mouth.
The two beams clashed in the middle of the ocean. The planetary cannon was immensely powerful, and its beam managed to match the creature’s attack on equal footing for a brief moment.
When the beast noticed this resistance, its crimson eyes turned completely black. Following its gaze, the energy beam it was emitting also transformed into a pitch black color.
Instantly, the black beam overwhelmed and passed right through the planetary cannon’s blast. It flashed directly across all fifteen fleets without stopping.
Those ancient, prideful technologies turned to dust within a fraction of a second. Ten thousand nobles, the sages, and the emperor himself vanished from existence.
The creature stared at the silent, empty scene for a short while. Satisfied with it’s power, it swam away to hunt its next prey deep in the ocean.
On the surface, twelve human sages had gathered near the shore. They were preparing for the ultimate battle against the invading Atlantians. They had arrived at the coast along with nine massive battle machines, ready to defend their world.
But among the sages, one individual had an unusual look on his face. He was secretly the Atlantian prince, using advanced technology to disguise himself as a human sage. He repeatedly tried to contact his father, the emperor, but the connection was suddenly and completely lost.
"What is going on? Why is there no response?" the prince thought, a cold sweat breaking out on his neck.
Before he could think further, a military general ran frantically toward Arthur, "Sir, a terrifying beast tide is about to appear near our borders. According to our readings, it should be the highest class beast tide we have ever recorded."
Arthur gripped his weapon tightly. "Why hasn’t the world system noticed us or given us an emergency alert?" he asked aloud.
He was getting hyper tensed. From one side, they faced the threat of the Atlantian military, and now this massive beast tide was arriving without any warning from the system.
Only one person stood with an unusually calm look on her face, but no one noticed her expression in the chaos. Diana remained still, her gaze fixed on the distance.
"Diana, stay here with five battle machines and one sage to guard the shore. Inform us as soon as the Atlantians come out of the water. The rest of us are going to suppress the beast tide immediately," Arthur ordered.
"Alright," Diana nodded simply.
With a series of loud sonic booms, ten sages vanished into the sky alongside four of the battle machines, racing toward the stampede.
Only Diana and the disguised prince remained on the empty shoreline. The prince turned his head and looked at Diana from behind. He licked his lips greedily.
"Today you will become mine," he thought, believing his father was on his way.
But as soon as the other sages were completely out of sight, Diana turned around. She looked at him with a creepy, unsettling smile on her face. Her eyes were totally dark, devoid of any human warmth.
The prince’s face turned pale in an instant. His survival instincts screamed at him to run. He wanted to flee, but it was already too late.
Diana vanished from her position. Before the prince could even blink, she appeared directly in front of him. She grabbed his throat with an iron grip and lifted him high into the air.
Nova had already informed her beforehand that this prince was a spy from Atlantis, using a specialized cloaking technology to disguise his identity. Diana’s immense anger over everything that had happened completely took over her partial rationality.
"Let go of m..." the prince tried to choke out.
But before he could finish his sentence, Diana’s right hand had already penetrated his chest. Her hand pushed completely through his flesh, emerging from his back.
When she pulled her hand back, a beating heart was clenched firmly in her fist. The prince gasped once and died on the spot. With his death, it was highly likely that every single Atlantian from the world of Ethereum was now completely gone.
Diana tossed the corpse aside and looked up at the five remaining battle machines. Inside the cockpits, fifteen epic rank awakeners were shaking uncontrollably. They had just watched Diana kill the seventh sage as if he were nothing more than a common insect.
"There is no need to panic. The individual you just saw was an Atlantian prince, disguising himself as a human sage to infiltrate our ranks," Nova’s calm voice echoed inside the cockpits of all five battle machines at the exact same time.
Hearing the AI’s explanation, the pilots finally managed to calm their racing hearts.
Diana looked toward the horizon where the energy signatures of the monsters were flaring. "Go, and help the others in the battle," she ordered the machines coldly.
Without waiting for their reply, she leaped into the air and flew straight into the stormy sky, ready to join the war.
In the southern empire,
A terrifying eagle roar came from the sky. It was an S rank monster.
The soldiers stationed there turned pale. There was no sign of beast tide for the past few days, but now an S rank monster, was here.
The eagle flapped it’s wings and terrifyingly sharp wind slash came toward the soldiers.
They closed their eyes to accept their death, but another terrifying power intercepted.
