INFINITE MEMORIES : MY F-RANK SKILL IS ACTUALLY THE STRONGEST
Chapter 164: DESCENT INTO SEA
Chapter 164: The Descent into the Glass Sea
The Aethelgard descended through the pale violet shroud that choked the upper reaches of the crater, its star-iron keel gliding with frictionless grace into the heart of the glass expanse.
Below the dreadnought’s shadow, the petrified obsidian floor of the First Riftfall Basin stretched like a frozen, black sea. Beneath the translucent surface, glowing circuit lines of inorganic mana pulsed in blinding mathematical rhythms, pumping raw planetary energy straight toward the inverted obelisk hovering suspended above the crater’s central abyss. Overhead, the sky had completely vanished, replaced by an expanding dome of pale violet purge fire that hummed with a cold, mechanical cadence.
The dreadnought leveled out fifty cubits above the glassy bedrock. Its lower deployment ring flared with a subdued silver luminescence as the dimensional transit array engaged with a soft, pressurized hiss.
Stepping off the transit ring and onto the slick obsidian stone, his boots making a dull, solid click against the glass, was Noah Kurtz.
He walked with his familiar, unhurried slouch, his hands buried deep inside the pockets of his dark woolen coat. Ash-black hair shifted lazily in the ozone-heavy draft of the crater, his steel-gray eyes surveying the towering black obelisk with cool, clinical detachment. Pinned to his left chest lapel directly above his heart, the dark ironwood leaf brooch absorbed the harsh, mathematical static of the basin, radiating a steady, tranquil golden warmth into his meridians. Beneath his dark sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards lay quiet, their internal kinetic dampening arrays cycling in frictionless, zero-waste equilibrium.
Circulate.
Deep inside his spine, Noah’s 8.50% Memory Cabinet Synchronization moved like an ancient, immovable river. The unsealed authority of the seven gathered sovereign anchors formed an impenetrable barrier around his consciousness. As the primordial purge frequencies radiating from the obelisk washed over him, they did not find an editable biological asset to disintegrate; they collided with the accumulated memory of extinct worlds and broke into harmless ripples of static.
Walking soundlessly beside him, her slender left hand linked seamlessly within his right palm, was Rin Asakura.
Rin wore her ocean-tailored lavender kimono, the deep indigo ribbons along her sleeves swaying lightly against the black obsidian stone. Her white woolen shawl rested softly across her shoulders, and her simple wooden practice sword swayed peacefully at her left hip.
Her crystalline violet eyes looked toward the spinning monolith, open, unsealed, and brimming with clear, radiant light.
Without a blindfold, and with the full depth of Asura’s Touch interwoven with her unsealed void-sight, Rin perceived the geometric anatomy of the cosmic purge. She traced the millions of invisible, cold filament threads binding the obelisk to the planetary core, waiting to execute the fourteenth wipe. Yet beneath that vast, mechanical malice, she felt the unyielding, infinite warmth radiating from Noah’s hand into hers.
Slowly, Rin leaned her shoulder gently against Noah’s arm, her delicate fingers tightening their warm, devoted grip within his palm.
“The stone here does not remember footsteps, Noah…” Rin whispered softly, her melodic, formal cadence carrying an intimate sweetness that rose into the sterile air. “For thousands of years, this ground was visited only by machines and the cold silence of the sky. It has never known the sound of human laughter or the warmth of two people walking side by side. Even now, the engine believes we are merely numbers waiting to be erased.”
Noah turned his head, his steel-gray gaze softening with genuine, unshakeable tenderness as he looked down into her clear violet eyes. He gently squeezed her fingers, his thumb caressing the soft curve of her knuckles with quiet warmth.
“The engine doesn’t know how to see anything else, Rin,” Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the weight of ancient eons. “The System Architects built a world out of logic gates because they were terrified of things that couldn’t be quantified. They thought if they kept resetting the board, humanity would never develop the courage to step outside the cage. But you don’t defeat an equation by arguing with it. You defeat it by proving that a single heartbeat is heavier than their entire calculation.”
Rin stepped closer into his space, resting her cheek gently against the rough wool of his sleeve while holding their linked hands against her heart.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
“And my heart will beat beside yours until their sky is shattered, Noah,” Rin murmured softly, her breath warm against his coat, her violet eyes glowing with absolute, radiant devotion.
Behind them on the glassy obsidian floor, the heavy, rhythmic crunch-slap of rubber soles broke through the sterile silence of the crater.
Jiho Park trudged down the deployment ramp, dragging his faded, scuffed slide sandals lazily across the black glass as he let out a long, jaw-cracking yawn that reverberated through the basin. The massive S-Rank Juggernaut wore his baggy gray sweatpants and his oversized yellow cotton tank top, stretching his broad shoulders with a dull, heavy pop of dense muscle. Balanced over his broad right shoulder was his indestructible canvas duffel bag, packed tight with emergency rations, heavy refined matrix ore, and forty sealed jars of District 4 chili paste. In his left hand, he held a massive roasted meat bun, taking a slow, blissful bite.
“Man,” Jiho mumbled around a mouthful of savory dough, his droopy eyes half-shut as he squinted at the floating obelisk. “Master, this floor is so slippery I could slide all the way to the middle on my slide sandals. Look at that giant black top spinning up there. It’s making a humming noise that’s vibrating right through my teeth. If that purple laser comes down, do I block it with my shoulder or should I hold my duffel bag over my head? I really don’t want the chili oil jars to crack.”
“Block it with your shoulder, Jiho,” Noah replied smoothly, a dry, subtle smirk touching the corner of his lips. “Save the chili jars for dinner.”
“Master, your logistical priorities are truly an inspiration to mankind,” Jiho beamed sleepily, nodding with profound, spiritual gratitude as he finished the bun in one massive swallow. “Chili paste safety protocol active. Shoulder defense on standby.”
Strolling lightly along the glass terrace to Noah’s left, Chloe Harrington caught her silver coin with an effortless, rhythmic snap.
Clink.
She wore her streamlined canvas coat unbuttoned over a light linen shirt, her twin platinum revolvers resting quietly in their holsters. Her sharp amber eyes sparkled with brilliant golden probability lines as she tracked the swirling geometric grids descending from the ceiling.
“Probability vectors for the cosmic purge wave: sitting at ninety-nine point nine percent, Boss,” Chloe reported with a sharp, rebellious smirk. “The System’s automated defense protocols have recognized our breach. In roughly two minutes, the obelisk will deploy the Prime Arbiters—the cosmic automated sentinels that executed the terminal purges of Cycles 1 through 13. They aren’t awakened hunters; they’re pure kinetic constructs programmed to erase biological anomalies.”
“And look at the energy density spiking within the terminal, Boss!” Alistair Vance blurted out, breathlessly jogging down the ramp while clutching his brass-rimmed walking spectacles.
Alistair carried his portable espresso rig strapped securely to his chest, clutching a steaming ceramic mug of dark roast in one hand and his glowing holographic tablet in the other. He tapped the glass screen, pointing toward the core readings of Record Fragment #040 (The Architect’s Quill).
“The obelisk is drawing energy from all fourteen dimensional fault lines simultaneously!” Alistair shouted, his voice cracking with manic academic excitement. “The Architects didn’t leave a living crew behind to oversee the machine; it’s an entirely autonomous self-correcting logic loop! The moment you sever the terminal connection, the entire overarching System will collapse into unguided raw mana! Every artificial rank, every false class restriction, and every cyclic reset will dissolve across the entire globe!”
Noah stepped forward, his posture settling naturally into his unhurried slouch as he pulled his hands from his coat pockets.
Ahead, the black glass ground shuddered violently.
From the translucent bedrock around the central abyss, eight colossal pillars of white, non-reflective celestial metal rose with a deafening screech of grinding reality. Hovering above each pillar was a faceless, towering entity draped in geometric light—the Prime Arbiters of the System, their hands holding massive blades of condensed cosmic logic.
DING.

Noah didn’t flinch. His steel-gray eyes surveyed the towering sentinels with cool, tranquil indifference.
Beside him, Rin Asakura stepped smoothly to his side, her pale hand holding his with eternal, unbreakable strength as her simple wooden practice sword swayed at her hip. Her crystalline violet eyes shone with absolute devotion, infinite serenity, and boundless trust.
“The arbiters have come to read their verdict, Noah…” Rin murmured softly, her breath warm against his lapel.
Noah looked down at her, wrapping his fingers gently around hers with quiet, immovable warmth.
“Let them read it, Rin,” Noah Kurtz said softly, his flat, rasping whisper cutting through the hum of the purge fire. “Jiho, Chloe, Alistair—clear the floor. We’re taking the core.”
