Infinite Nightmares
Chapter 250: Attack Method
The moment Zhang Wenda saw Jia Junpeng burst in with a mob from Tieba, he felt as if he were back in the No. 6 Tide of Thought.
A surging sea of people flooded through the main entrance, pouring toward them like an unstoppable tide.
If there was one difference from the No. 6 Tide of Thought, it was that these people were spouting all sorts of nonsensical phrases as they surged forward.
"EXP +3!"
"As long as I live, the holy war never ends!"
"First post is mine!"
"For the Horde!!"
The massive crowd charged in without any order, flaming anyone they saw. Their words materialized into physical projectiles, smashing into everything around them in an indiscriminate attack on all.
Whether it was the dark monsters summoned by Tang Xingxiong or the warring red and blue factions, they could only resist for a moment before they were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer numbers.
Even Zhang Wenda was struggling to hold on, raising his Black Cat Shield high amidst the human tide.
Feeling a little uneasy, Zhang Wenda glanced up at the ceiling to check on Tang Xingxiong.
He then saw that many of the people from Tieba had sticky fingers. Not only were they trying to snatch Tang Xingxiong’s "moon," but they were also creepily touching her high-heeled feet, which was nearly driving her insane with rage.
"Whoa! The feet of a hot older woman in black stockings, right after a workout! That’s what we love over at Zhou Bar! This trip was totally worth it!"
Zhang Wenda had known Tang Xingxiong for a long time, but this was the first time he had ever seen the woman so utterly flustered.
Seeing that his enemy was in a worse predicament than he was, Zhang Wenda immediately felt a bit more at ease. He took a bite of his mushroom and used the Double Fish Jade Pendant to quickly replicate Wai.
Soon, under his command, the translucent rabbits linked together, forming a dome that separated them from the Tieba crowd.
Immediately after, Zhang Wenda used his immense strength to push the dome, moving it toward Tang Xingxiong.
His opponent was currently tangled up with the guys from Tieba and couldn’t get away. This was a golden opportunity, and Zhang Wenda knew he had to seize it. ’Strike while she’s down and finish her.’
However, just as he was getting closer and closer to Tang Xingxiong, a crack suddenly shot up the wall and spread rapidly across the ceiling.
Everyone who saw this felt their scalp tingle with dread. It was obvious: there were too many people from Tieba. The load was too great, and they were about to bring the Zhihu Building crashing down!
"Stop charging! The building’s going to collapse!"
"Where are the admins?! Where are the admins!!"
"I bet it won’t collapse! 3-to-1 odds! Anyone want in?"
More and more cracks spiderwebbed across the walls! At a sharp whistle from Song Jianguo, the Black Cats swiftly transformed into a bulwark, enveloping everyone inside.
The very next second, with a deafening ROAR, the entire Zhihu Building collapsed in an instant. Wails and screams echoed endlessly.
Song Jianguo might not have been the most reliable person, but her Black Cats had never let Zhang Wenda down. Even as they were crushed to the point of letting out strained MEOWS, the arched fortress held strong.
A long minute passed. When Zhang Wenda heard the commotion outside begin to quiet down, he pushed away the debris pressing down on the fortress with both hands and stood up amidst the ruins.
Zhang Wenda surveyed his surroundings and found the aftermath of the battle to be incredibly grim. Amidst the blue ruins of Zhihu, people from Xiaohongshu, Zhihu, and even Tieba were either crushed to death or grievously injured.
Yet even in this state, as long as they still had a breath left in them, they continued to spew trash talk at one another.
’Where’s Tang Xingxiong? Was she crushed to death?’ Zhang Wenda anxiously scanned the area, searching for his enemy, afraid she might have escaped.
At that moment, however, Zhang Wenda suddenly noticed that the distant scenery, near the landmark line, seemed to be dropping frames and lagging.
He even saw a chunk of the ground floating in mid-air, with brilliant lights flashing and a huge commotion over there.
Only someone with extraordinary abilities could do something like this. Zhang Wenda immediately thought of the two people capable of creating such a scene. ’What’s going on? Could this be the result of a fight between Big Circle Leopard and Qianxi?’
Soon, however, he had no time to worry about what was happening in the distance, because he saw Tang Xingxiong, equally covered in dust and dirt, crawling out of the rubble not far away.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he kicked off the Black Cat Fortress, lunging forward as he swung the scythe in his hand with all his might.
Sensing the danger, Tang Xingxiong instantly transformed into a flock of black crows and scattered, but her speed was no longer enough.
Just as Zhang Wenda was about to kill the last six remaining crows, steel wires shot out from the rubble, binding his entire body like chains.
The last remaining hooded woman emerged from the shadows of a pile of rubble. With a flick of her hands, her body rapidly grew thinner as a storm of threads shot from her, whistling toward the restrained Zhang Wenda.
The second before the sharp steel wires could hit him, Zhang Wenda’s body rapidly turned transparent and vanished from sight.
The woman froze for a moment at the sight. Before she could react, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her chest. When she slowly looked down, she saw three sharp scythe blades protruding from her torso.
In her final moments, she never would have guessed that Zhang Wenda could actually cross a Tide of Thought to appear behind her for a surprise attack.
As Zhang Wenda materialized behind her and put his strength into it, the woman was instantly sliced into three pieces.
Moreover, to prevent her threads from repairing her body, he had sliced her vertically, severing all the lines.
Having dealt with the nuisance, Zhang Wenda looked up at Tang Xingxiong, who had already fled into the air. "Auntie, this time, you’re not getting away."
"Who said I was running?" A crow in Tang Xingxiong’s bird’s nest tilted its head and looked coldly at Zhang Wenda. "You’re the one who should be running."
Looking at her damaged body, Zhang Wenda snorted coldly. He bent his reverse-jointed legs slightly, crouching down. "Still talking tough when you’re at death’s door. Haven’t you realized it yet? I’ve long since surpassed you in strength."
"Is that so? And what of it? Have you ever stopped to think why I came here in the first place?"
As she spoke, Tang Xingxiong took out a piccolo. She placed it right in front of the bird’s nest, and the three crows inside began to play it.
But Zhang Wenda didn’t care what she was doing. He had already become a blur, leaping toward her.
Just as he was about to reach her, a visible, tangible rhythm floated out from the piccolo, forming walls of sound that blocked Zhang Wenda’s path.
More importantly, this rhythm seemed to have a strange attractive force, pulling all the solidified words from the ground and causing them to float rapidly up into the sky.
As the rhythm and the solidified text swirled together, they eventually formed a vast, dark cloud in the sky, rumbling with muffled thunder.
Just then, Jia Junpeng, who had just crawled out of a ceramic pot in the rubble, looking dusty and disheveled, happened to see this. He screamed in terror at Zhang Wenda, "Run! That’s a network storm! She’s going to cyberbully you! You won’t be able to take it!"
