Infinte Origin
The Guardian Of The Ancient Sancutary
Chapter 184: The Guardian of the Ancient Sanctuary
The moment Aether crossed the spatial boundary, the scenery before him changed completely.
An enormous ancient landscape stretched into the distance. Floating mountains hovered above a vast expanse of land, connected by bridges that had survived countless ages. Ancient buildings stood scattered throughout the region, their surfaces covered in weathered inscriptions and faintly glowing formations. Farther away, enormous structures rose above the mountains, their silhouettes partially concealed by drifting clouds of Origin Energy.
The atmosphere was unusually dense with Origin Energy.
Aether paused to observe his surroundings.
The Ancient Origin Earth Dragon stood beside him, his golden eyes surveying the unfamiliar landscape.
"An extraordinary place," the dragon remarked. "Even after all these ages, several of its structures remain intact."
Aether nodded and opened his Status Panel.
[Location: Hidden Spatial Region]
[Classification: Ancient Sanctuary]
[Access: Established]
[Internal Analysis: In Progress]
[Warning: Multiple external energy signatures detected.]
Before he could examine the information further, another spatial fluctuation appeared behind them.
Several young cultivators emerged from the entrance.
They wore different robes and carried distinct clan and sect insignias. Some immediately began examining their surroundings, while others gathered with their companions to discuss their next move.
More people continued arriving.
Within a short time, the area near the entrance had become crowded with participants from different factions. Groups of three, five, and even larger teams assembled, while a few particularly confident cultivators immediately headed toward the distant structures alone.
Excited conversations filled the surroundings.
"Look at those floating mountains! There must be ancient inheritances hidden there!"
"The Origin Energy here is considerably denser than outside. Even ordinary cultivation could become much faster."
"Don't waste time standing around. The others are already moving!"
"Be careful. We don't know what dangers remain inside this place."
Aether watched the arriving cultivators for a moment.
The sanctuary was clearly much larger than the area they had initially seen. With so many participants entering, the competition for its resources would undoubtedly become intense.
"Young Master, it appears the entire younger generation has been drawn here," the dragon commented.
"Not everyone will find something valuable. But with this many people searching, the sanctuary's secrets won't remain hidden for long."
Aether turned toward a large stone pathway leading deeper into the landscape.
Several shadows emerged briefly from his feet before dispersing in different directions.
Their task was to scout the surroundings, identify valuable resources, and locate dangerous creatures or unusual formations.
The dragon noticed their movements.
"Your shadow abilities are useful for exploration. This place is large enough that searching it alone would waste considerable time."
"That's why I sent them ahead."
They began moving toward a cluster of ancient buildings.
Around them, other participants were already splitting into different directions. A group from a powerful clan headed toward the floating mountains, while several cultivators from a nearby sect entered a forest filled with unusually ancient vegetation. Another group had discovered a massive stone monument and was examining the inscriptions covering its surface.
Nobody wanted to waste the opportunity.
Aether and the dragon soon reached a large stone platform surrounded by ancient pillars.
At its center stood a towering humanoid construct.
The author's page is where this chapter is published and supports their work; this version was copied there without permission.
Its body was made from dark stone, reinforced with metallic plates. Ancient inscriptions covered its armor, while a faint golden light flickered within its eyes.
The moment Aether approached, the construct's eyes illuminated.
"Unregistered Origin Signature Detected."
A deep mechanical voice echoed throughout the platform.
"Identification Required."
Golden energy surged through the surrounding pillars.
Aether stopped.
The System immediately displayed an analysis.
[Analysis Complete.]
[Target: Ancient Sanctuary Guardian]
[Type: Ancient Formation Construct]
[Current Cultivation: Origin Domain Realm Stage 6]
[Primary Function: Protection of a Restricted Sanctuary Area.]
[Defensive Capability: Extremely High]
[Energy Source: Connected Formation Network]
[Additional Information: The guardian receives reinforcement from surrounding formations. Its defensive functions are connected to the sanctuary's ancient energy network.]
Aether examined the construct.
The dragon, however, appeared completely uninterested.
"Another ancient puppet," he remarked.
"Can you handle it?"
The dragon glanced at him.
"Young Master, this thing is far beneath my strength. There is no reason to waste our time."
Aether nodded.
"Then destroy it."
"As you command."
The guardian raised its enormous arm.
"Access Denied. Defensive Protocol Activated."
A golden barrier spread across the platform as the construct prepared to attack.
The dragon took a single step forward.
His golden eyes brightened, and an ancient pressure briefly spread throughout the surroundings.
He raised one hand.
A concentrated wave of dark-golden Origin Energy surged forward.
The guardian's barrier shattered immediately. Its enormous body was struck by the attack, and the inscriptions covering its armor flashed before going dark.
In the next instant, the construct collapsed.
The entire confrontation had ended in a single exchange.
The dragon lowered his hand and returned to Aether's side.
"That should be sufficient."
The sudden destruction attracted attention from the surrounding area.
Several cultivators who had been approaching the platform stopped in their tracks. They had sensed the guardian's powerful energy fluctuations and had expected a difficult confrontation.
Instead, the construct had been destroyed almost instantly.
"Who are those two?"
"That guardian was at the Origin Domain Realm! How could it be destroyed so easily?"
"Look at the golden-eyed man. His cultivation is difficult to perceive."
A few participants exchanged wary glances before deciding not to approach.
Aether ignored their reactions and examined the remains.
[Ancient Guardian Core Detected.]
[Condition: Damaged.]
[Information Recovery Potential: High.]
[Additional Information: The core contains preserved defensive protocols and fragments of the sanctuary's internal records.]
Aether collected the remains and stored the core inside his storage ring for later examination.
The surrounding formations remained active. Although the guardian's defensive function had been terminated, the spatial stabilization and energy distribution structures continued operating normally.
The dragon examined several inscriptions nearby.
"These markings refer to preservation and bloodline regulation. This area likely belongs to one of the sanctuary's preservation divisions."
Aether's interest increased.
"Can you determine its exact purpose?"
"Not yet. The inscriptions are incomplete. We need to examine the internal records."
Before Aether could respond, several cultivators arrived at the platform.
Among them was Mu Qingxue.
She glanced at the destroyed guardian before looking toward the ancient buildings. Her attention soon shifted to the vegetation growing between the stone platforms.
"The vegetation is responding to the change in energy circulation," she observed. "The roots beneath the ground are beginning to spread toward the central structures."
Aether looked toward the ground.
"Can you determine where they're leading?"
"Not precisely. But the energy seems to be flowing toward the deeper part of the sanctuary."
"Keep observing it. Your findings might help us identify hidden structures."
Mu Qingxue nodded.
She then moved toward another section of the platform to examine the surrounding vegetation.
Meanwhile, more groups continued arriving.
A team of young cultivators wearing the insignia of a major ancient clan examined the guardian's remains. Another group began inspecting the pillars, hoping to discover whether the guardian had protected a hidden inheritance.
A few participants even attempted to enter the building beyond the platform, only to discover that its entrance remained sealed.
The sanctuary was becoming increasingly active.
Jiang Rui had also witnessed the dragon's attack.
His expression had become considerably more serious.
He had initially considered Aether an ordinary competitor who had been fortunate enough to discover the hidden region. However, the strength displayed by the golden-eyed companion completely changed his assessment.
That companion is far stronger than the guardian.
His gaze shifted toward the ancient structure Aether was approaching.
He didn't know what Aether had obtained, but the fact that he had reached the guardian before many other participants suggested that he had discovered something valuable.
Jiang Rui had no intention of confronting him directly.
Instead, he began considering how to turn this discovery into an advantage.
The powerful clans and sects outside were already investigating the awakening of the sanctuary. Their representatives would eventually question participants about the discoveries made inside.
If Jiang Rui could provide valuable information, he might gain their attention and earn benefits for himself.
For now, he needed more information.
Aether, unaware of his intentions, approached the enormous structure beyond the platform.
Several ancient inscriptions covered its entrance. Unlike the guardian's markings, these were arranged in an orderly pattern, suggesting that the building had an important function.
The System displayed another notification.
[Ancient Structure Detected.]
[Classification: Preservation Facility]
[Origin Energy Density: Extremely High]
[Potential Contents: Bloodline Records, Preservation Resources, Ancient Research Materials.]
[Analysis: Incomplete.]
Aether's eyes narrowed slightly.
Preservation facility.
The words matched the information they had discovered earlier.
He looked toward the dragon.
"It seems we've found our first destination."
The dragon examined the entrance.
"Then let's see what these ancient people were preserving."
Aether stepped forward.
The inscriptions across the entrance began glowing as the surrounding formations responded to the approaching energy.
A deep rumble echoed from within.
Slowly, the ancient doors began to open.
Beyond them lay a vast hall filled with countless sealed chambers.
At the same time, several other groups throughout the sanctuary discovered their own ancient structures, resources, and hidden passages.
Some would find valuable opportunities. Others might encounter dangers left behind by the sanctuary's creators.
And as more participants spread throughout the ancient landscape, competition for its treasures was only beginning.
