Chapter 741: Chapter 741 - An amazing discovery (Part 4)

While Altair is clicking his tongue in annoyance while digging into the mountain little by little, Laerad and I were having conversations about random things and about the mountain in front of me telepathically. I couldn’t help but smile once in a while when my husband says something amusing. Noticing that I am pre-occupied with something (well, someone) else, Altair made even louder digging noise to make sure I knew he was working diligently though he was being forced into it.

Laerad shared that the memories of the world did not show anything about the son of the dragon going anywhere or leaving the area. There was also no trace in the memory of the world as to where the dragon egg ended up in.

I thanked Laerad for all the information he provided me and honestly, whatever the color of the egg may be, I am still going to bring it back to the world tree realm to hatch it. And, as long as the son of this dragon still has a breath in him left, I will save him and nurse him back to health too.

Altair suddenly called for me as I was having a chat with Laerad as he said, "Check this one out! Something’s blocking the way where I am trying to dig in."

I started walking quickly towards the inside of what looked like a tunnel that was the result of Altair’s digging. I saw Altair standing in front of an opaque looking barrier. Altair excitedly told me that this was actually good news!

What is so good about not being able to dig forward because of a sudden barrier? Did he go crazy or something?

Laerad shook his head and responded with still the same hint of excitement in his voice, "You don’t understand! This is an arcane level barrier that only mystiques can set up. Time inside it is slowed down by a huge amount. It is used for seclusion and prolonged hibernation. Do you know what this means?"

I sighed impatiently and spoke in a cold tone, "Laerad told me that this mountain is made of dragon bones that was covered by soil for several centuries so it is not surprising that it has a barrier. Wait. What are you trying to imply? Get to the point already!"

Altair clicked his tongue then pouted dramatically as if he was wronged. He looked at me acting all pitiful and said, "Why do you always hurry me when I talk to you? We rarely speak to each other and I cherish every time I can talk to you."

With gritted teeth, I enunciated word for word, "Get. To. The. Point." He sighed exaggeratedly and said, "I am at most about 90% sure. This must be a burial site of the rarest dragon type, the bronze dragon."

As I stared at Altair, what he said gradually registered to my brain. Can anyone be this lucky? Are the gods helping me complete my tasks faster again?

I calmed myself down and did not keep my expectations up. Sure, it was a strong barrier that a bronze dragon can easily make but until I see it with my own eyes, I don’t want to be happy just yet.

I approached the barrier and just like I did earlier, I placed my palm on it he pushed a bit to test its strength. And just as I did, the barrier disintegrated as my skin touched it without me doing anything else. I stumbled forward due to the force I exerted in my intention to push my way in

Altair, seeing that I am tumbling forward, hooked one of his arms around my waist and pulled me back. He was in such a hurry that my back hit his chest quite hard. If I was human, it should have knocked the air out of my lungs.

I heard Altair curse near my ear as he said, "Damn! Didn’t you even think that there may be a trap or something? Why touch the barrier and just push in with brute force? You are going to kill me and here I thought, that it was a very hard thing to do!"

I looked back at Altair and I saw that his face paled by a lot. I genuinely scared the guy. I know I should have apologized but I chuckled instead and teased him, "Atleast you have a reason to hug me. And just to clarify, I braced myself for any possible trap. What I did not expect was that the barrier to just gave way and let me in without any struggle."

I heard an exasperated sigh from Altair then he clicked his tongue. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to continue scolding me but after a few seconds, he ended up just saying, "Be careful next time. Dragons are cunning."

I chuckled and responded teasingly, "They are not as cunning as you, I think." He looked at me with a helpless smile, no longer pale from the fright earlier as he responded, "I will just take that as a compliment for my sanity. Don’t push on random barriers like that again!"

I responded with a smirk, "I won’t make promises I couldn’t keep. You will save me each time anyways." He just glared then rolled his eyes at me without saying anything. I tapped his hand so he would release me since he is enjoying this hug too much already.

He let go of my waist seemingly unwilling since he moved too slowly. He held my hand again and walked ahead of me further inside the area which the barrier used to cover.

It took a few more minutes of walking (this guy walks like we are on a date along a river) before we reached an inner chamber that looked like an underground cave. In the middle of it, there was a small platform where a human figure was curled as if protecting something more important than himself.

As we walked further, we finally saw it clearly. It was an ethereally beautiful male with caramel blonde hair and wheat-like skin tone who was unconscious (hopefully, not dead). He was wearing a simple set of robes, his whole body was curled up as if he was in pain.

We then noticed that in the place protected by his arms and legs, there seems to be what looks like a dull gray rock. Based on my memories and the cave I saw through Alstein’s eyes, that is definitely a calcified dragon egg.
