Chapter 412: Chapter 410: Seeking Life Through Death

The connections built with the Clear Spirit Jade Marrow could still be useful for small matters. But if you tried to use them to get someone to confront a Mid-Stage Nascent Soul cultivator like Blood God Son, you’d be lucky if they didn’t just throw you out.

Fang Tiancheng never harbored such unrealistic ideas; all he sought was an opportunity to meet him.

It would be best if he could secure a sliver of hope for survival. If not, he was already fully prepared for the alternative.

As long as Feng Moyun returned and reunited the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect’s Foundation Establishment disciples who were hiding in various places, they would have the core group needed to rebuild the Sect.

"Spare your lives? Will that bring my junior brother back from the dead?"

Blood God Son spoke coldly, as if he had heard a hilarious joke.

Perhaps the bond between him and his junior brother wasn’t all that deep.

But regardless, Blood God True Monarch was his master’s youngest son, and before his master passed on, Blood God Son had promised to take good care of his young junior brother.

"That is impossible. I am willing to pay with my own life!"

With a tragic smile, Fang Tiancheng slammed a large palm against his forehead. Blood poured from his seven orifices as his heart meridians shattered.

Outside the hall, the Gold-Devouring Earth Dragon Beast, his Lifebound Spiritual Beast and companion of several hundred years, let out a sorrowful cry. It struggled to its feet, staggered two steps forward, and then collapsed with a deafening THUD.

After a series of convulsions, the Tier Three Peak Spirit Beast followed its master in death.

Blood God Son sneered. With his sharp eye, he had long since seen the hidden affliction plaguing Fang Tiancheng—the after-effects of his Lifebound Spiritual Beast’s failed attempt to break through to a Tier Four Great Demon.

Even if Fang Tiancheng hadn’t killed himself, he didn’t have many years left.

When the Gold-Devouring Earth Dragon Beast failed its advancement, the consequences weren’t as severe as a Human Race Cultivator failing to form a Nascent Soul and dying on the spot, but its foundation was still severely damaged, costing it several hundred years of its lifespan.

Fang Tiancheng himself was already at the end of his natural lifespan. He had relied completely on the Spirit Control Scripture to borrow power from his Lifebound Spiritual Beast, extending his life by three hundred years.

With so much of his Lifebound Spiritual Beast’s lifespan gone, the backlash left Fang Tiancheng with very little time remaining.

A stern-looking, square-jawed Core Formation True Man who had been standing behind Fang Tiancheng stepped forward and bowed. Without a word, he shattered his own heart meridians with a single punch.

The Tier Three Immortal Crane perched on his shoulder flapped its wings a few times and collapsed alongside its master.

"I am Hu Yushan of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect. I beg you, True Monarch, to be merciful and grant our Sect’s disciples a chance to live."

A devastatingly beautiful female cultivator stepped forward, her eyes captivating and her voice melodious, and plunged a short sword held in her pale hand into her own chest.

The five-tailed white fox at her feet shed two tears. It hugged its master’s leg, then covered them both with its five bushy tails.

"I, Yuh Tian, implore you, True Monarch, to grant the disciples of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect a chance to live."

A burly man nearly eight feet tall stepped forward, his voice a low, rumbling thunder, and slammed a palm against his own head.

Red and white matter splattered across the floor. His physical body was so tough that he didn’t die instantly, but lay twitching on the ground.

With a stony expression, Honglian had her Lifebound Spiritual Beast, a Beauty Serpent, deliver a venomous bite to end Yuh Tian’s life, sparing her fellow disciple further suffering.

She walked over to the bodies of her four fellow disciples and was about to raise her blade to her own throat, but was stopped short by a furious shout.

"Enough!"

Tota Arhat spoke, his palms pressed together, his head bowed and his brow furrowed.

"Patron, four Core Formation True Men of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect have taken their lives. Surely that is a sufficient price. Why not let the matter rest?"

"The lives of a mere four Core Formation True Men? How can they possibly compare to my junior brother!"

Blood God Son’s expression didn’t change. He was completely unmoved.

The competition in the Southern Domain was brutal and the fighting bloody, far surpassing anything in the Northern Domain.

To Blood God Son, a scene like this was commonplace.

Gazing at her four fallen comrades, Honglian felt no grief or resentment, only a sense of tranquility.

All five of them had come here prepared to die.

Tota Arhat’s willingness to step forward was an unexpected delight.

If a few Arhats from the Dharma Aspect Sect were to speak on their behalf, perhaps Blood God Son would be wary enough to spare the disciples of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect.

This was the helplessness of the weak: their only recourse was to die nobly, hoping their lives would stir the sympathy of other Nascent Soul True Monarchs.

Just as Honglian placed the short blade against her neck, a gentle force swept it away.

"Fellow Daoist Blood God Son, could you do me a favor and spare this young friend and her Sect this once? The main culprit, Du Heng, has been executed. His accomplices and their fellow disciples have atoned with their lives. I believe the punishment has been sufficient."

The voice that drifted over was gentle and slow, yet it carried immense, convincing power.

"Since Great True Monarch Meng has spoken, I will naturally comply."

Blood God Son’s expression turned grim as he spoke.

Now that Meng Kang had spoken, to continue resisting would be to not know what’s good for him.

Blood God Son only dared to appear so brazenly because the Moral Sect was present. Had it been another Super Major Sect, he would have stayed far, far away.

To those Super Major Sects, particularly the Sword Cultivation Sects, the allure of a Tier Five Flying Sword was simply irresistible.

Appearing before sects like the Five Phoenix Sword Sect with the Abi Heavenly Prison Demon Sword was an obvious risk—it was like openly baiting them.

There was no telling if some Great True Monarch might covet the Tier Five Flying Sword, lay down a trapping Array, or even call upon a Divinity Transformation Great Power to intervene.

Law must have a basis; punishment must have a source.

The Moral Sect was incredibly stubborn and overbearing in many ways, but they would never openly steal someone’s Treasure.

This was especially true for Celestial Punishment Peak, which claimed all punishment under heaven originated from it. If they were to engage in such acts, it was feared their very path to the Great Dao would be affected.

As one of the two Great True Monarchs, and with the Five-Fire Seven-Bird Fan in hand, Meng Kang completely negated Blood God Son’s advantage when it came to Treasures.

The man was negotiating politely for now, and Blood God Son had no desire to witness the heaven-shaking power of the Five-Fire Seven-Bird Fan again. Who knew if the heroic, successive suicides of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect’s Core Formation True Men had affected Meng Kang’s state of mind.

"Thank you, True Monarch. Thank you, Great True Monarch Meng."

Honglian was stunned for a moment, never expecting fate to take a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn at a time like this.

She hadn’t died after all, and the disciples of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect were also saved.

And so, with Feng Moyun yet to return, she had suddenly become the Ten Thousand Beasts Sect’s sole surviving Core Formation True Man.

Honglian fought back tears, took out five body bags, and arranged her four fallen comrades together.

She placed the bodies of her four senior brothers and sister into the bags; the last empty one had been for herself.

When she had been facing death, she had felt no pain or sorrow. It was only now, hearing Blood God Son agree to halt his quest for revenge, that she looked upon the remains of her comrades and began to weep uncontrollably.

...

Bai Zichen had never left the Northern Domain before. This sudden trip to the Eastern Domain was a surprise even to him.

He had originally planned to use his map of the Endless Sea of Suffering to his advantage. He would rapidly gain Combat experience and accumulate wealth by fighting his way through the Thirty-Six Demon Caves.

After all, those who fled to the Endless Sea of Suffering—and were able to endure its conditions without wanting to leave—were almost all Demon Cultivators who had committed heinous crimes.

These were villains so evil that even the Demon Path Sects, for whom murder was routine and razing cities and destroying other sects were commonplace, could no longer protect them. They had no choice but to enter the Endless Sea of Suffering.

There was no need to feel any guilt for killing these Demon Cultivators.

He only had a rough map and wasn’t clear on the exact location of the Great Wild Marsh.

However, the Great Wild Marsh was a famous wetland region in the Eastern Domain. He could simply ask for directions once he arrived there, so it wouldn’t be much of a detour.
