Chapter 492 - 473: Blood Infant Tri-partition
Chapter 492: Chapter 473: Blood Infant Tri-partition
Blood God True Monarch had been a Nascent Soul for many years. The Blood River behind him was his personal Realm, which had long since evolved into a Blood Sea World.
Now, as he channeled his full power, the boundless crimson tide engulfed several mountain peaks.
Luofeng Mountain, once filled with soaring flames and thick smoke, was now completely suppressed by the Blood Sea. Countless human faces of cultivators and maimed Demon Beasts with missing limbs leaped from the sea, their shrieks and howls echoing as they lunged at Bai Zichen.
These were all the beings that had died at the hands of Blood God True Monarch.
He hadn’t even used his other Divine Techniques or his most powerful weapon, the Abi Heavenly Prison Demon Sword. The sheer power from the manifestation of his Realm alone was enough to overwhelm ordinary Early-Stage Nascent Soul Cultivators.
"Impressive!"
The pressure on Bai Zichen multiplied. Blood red was all he could see, and he was completely submerged within it.
Only his own expanded Realm, like a lone boat on the Blood Sea, protected the last glimmer of light.
His qi and blood churned, drawn out by the external force. A scorching heat threatened to erupt, as if a torch had been lit within him.
He struggled to control his own blood as it threatened to burst from his body.
"So you’ve already reached the peak of the Mid-Stage Nascent Soul, just one step away from the Late Stage!"
Bai Zichen had encountered Mid-Stage Nascent Soul cultivators before, but there was a clear difference between them and the Blood God True Monarch. The realization was immediate.
’No wonder this man was so confident he could capture me. With this level of Cultivation and the Hundred Demons Blood Sea Technique, he could already hold his own against a Great True Monarch.’
’Add the Tier Five Abi Heavenly Prison Demon Sword to the mix, and capturing an Early-Stage Nascent Soul cultivator—even one with Heaven-Defying Battle Power—would be child’s play.’
After all, intelligence reports stated that Bai Zichen had been locked in a stalemate against three Early-Stage Nascent Soul cultivators from Dian Country for a long time. In the end, all three had escaped unscathed; he hadn’t even managed to seriously injure a single one.
From this, the Blood God True Monarch deduced that while Bai Zichen was strong, he was still a far cry from a Great True Monarch.
He activated his Five Crystal Glaze Body. With the five crystals in his body and a heart of glaze, he forcibly suppressed the churning qi and blood within him.
At the same time, his shoulder blades grew hot as his Sun Element Copper Bone reacted, extracting a thin, thread-like wisp—resembling a nematode worm—from his blood.
It was a Blood-Burning Insect. Formless and intangible, it was a type of Heart Fire, named only for the nematode-like shape it manifested.
Once tainted by even a single strand, one’s qi and blood would know no peace, burning restlessly until completely consumed.
However, the Sun Element Copper Bone was the perfect counter to all types of flames. It could even ward off Celestial Fire, to say nothing of a mere blood-burning Heart Fire.
In the blink of an eye, the shoulder bone absorbed it, refining it into the Immortal Bone.
This saved him a great deal of effort. Otherwise, he would have had to mobilize his True Essence to hunt it down with much fanfare.
"I’ve seen plenty of the Hundred Demons Blood Sea Technique. Today, let’s see what the Sect Leader of the Blood Sea Sect can really do!"
Bai Zichen stood holding his sword, calm and unhurried. With two swift slashes, a pair of Thunder Radiance Sword Threads instantly shredded the surrounding faces and beastly Blood Shadows, even punching a hole through the Blood Sea itself.
But a wave of blood immediately surged to fill the gap.
"When it comes to a battle of attrition, how can a mere Sword Cultivator like you possibly compare to me? The Blood Sea is vast and boundless, washing away all sins!"
The Blood God True Monarch muttered, his eyes cold. His entire being transformed into a Blood Shadow and plunged into the Blood Sea.
Every Blood Sea Sect disciple who practices the Hundred Demons Blood Sea Technique develops different Divine Techniques based on its foundation, leading to significant disparities in power. The key lies in how the Cultivation Technique adapts based on the bloodlines integrated into it. The more potent the bloodline, the more formidable the resulting Divine Technique.
The Blood Evil Fate Technique, for instance, was unique to the Blood God True Monarch, a skill he perfected only after integrating Tier Four Elephant Turtle Essence Blood.
Without the Essence Blood of an Elephant Turtle or a similar Demon Beast of the same tier, other Blood Sea Sect disciples could practice the technique until their dying day and never master this Secret Technique.
The Blood Shadow that the Blood God True Monarch had become moved like a phantom. Aided by the Blood Sea Escape Technique, he pushed his speed to the limit, achieving a near-instantaneous teleportation effect.
Every so often, a Blood Shadow would lunge forward, too fast for anyone to react.
Simultaneously, a crimson giant would rise from the Blood Sea, attempting to pin Bai Zichen in place with crushing force.
But with a mere flick of his Sword Light, he easily pierced the crimson giant and sliced the attacking Blood Shadow in two.
Against these Evil Blood Dao Techniques, the Ziwei Dazzling Thunder Sword unleashed its divine might, its power seemingly doubling.
No matter what tricks the Blood God True Monarch employed, conjuring hundreds or even thousands of overlapping Blood Shadows, Bai Zichen held his ground. He used the Central Righteous Sword Technique to cut them all down.
After several consecutive attacks failed, the Blood God True Monarch’s expression turned ugly. Though his Blood Shadow clones were countless, after several exchanges, he had not only failed to capture Bai Zichen but had also failed to even drain his True Essence or stamina.
Sword Control was indeed draining on one’s True Essence, but Bai Zichen’s Flying Sword guarded him tightly, its Sword Light contracted to a radius of just a few feet. At this rate, it would take ten days to half a month to exhaust his reserves.
"You truly have the makings of a Divinity Transformation expert. I underestimated you... I take back what I said. The reward for your head is well-deserved."
Unable to force an opening after all this time, the Blood God True Monarch took the initiative and changed his tactics.
He recalled all the Blood Shadows. Then, grabbing the sides of his own body, he pulled hard, ripping himself into two identical Blood Shadows.
From the gash where his torso had split, a third Blood Shadow crawled out.
In an instant, all three Blood Shadows grew to his original form, each radiating the oppressive aura of the Mid-Stage Nascent Soul Realm.
One of the blood figures faded, moving through the Blood Sea like a streak of white light, its speed so incredible it was visible only as a thin white line.
It wielded a pair of Odd-Shaped Flying Hooks designed to shatter Flying Swords. Its movements were ghostly, appearing in seven places at once.
The next moment, the air filled with the ceaseless clang of sword against hook, a sound as crisp as the striking of a Jade Plate.
In contrast to the ghostly figure and its Flying Hooks, which moved so fast they created countless illusions, Bai Zichen remained perfectly composed. His Thunder Radiance Sword Light always appeared in exactly the right place.
’There’s a gap in our Cultivation,’ Bai Zichen thought. ’And I know the real challenge will be the Abi Heavenly Prison Demon Sword. I can’t play my trump cards this early.’
Another Blood Shadow, this one with two horns sprouting from its head, swung down a giant golden hammer, kicking up a vortex in the Blood Sea.
CLANG!
A deafening crash. For the first time, Bai Zichen took a small half-step back. The shocking Giant Power that traveled up his arm made his heart pound.
’Another genuine Mid-Stage Nascent Soul, not a mere illusionary clone... And its strength is boundless, a completely different style from the first Blood Shadow.’
Bai Zichen had taken a small, hidden loss. He hadn’t expected both Blood Shadows to be at the Mid-Stage Nascent Soul Realm, their strengths on par with each other. It was a Divine Technique akin to creating true external avatars.
He successfully blocked both Blood Shadows with his Ziwei Dazzling Thunder Sword, but in doing so, he gave the Blood Sea an opportunity to press in. The radius of his personal Realm shrank once more.
But in truth, the Blood God True Monarch was even more astonished than him.
’This Blood Shadow of mine was formed by integrating the bloodline of a Heaven-Devouring Whale!’ the True Monarch thought. ’It is born with boundless strength, comparable to a member of the Demon Race at the same level... Yet this Sword Cultivator, caught off guard, only took a single step back and suffered no injuries?’
Such a display pointed to one of two possibilities: either Bai Zichen’s physical strength was on par with the Heaven-Devouring Whale Blood Shadow...
...or he was wearing Spirit Treasure-level Inner Armor that had silently neutralized the immense force of the impact.
Compared to the former, the latter explanation—that Bai Zichen possessed a piece of Spiritual Treasure Inner Armor—was far more palatable to him.
The last Blood Shadow was noticeably shorter. It sat cross-legged in the distance, its hands forming a complex Hand Technique as the endless resentment within the Blood Sea gathered around it.
Between its hands, a small, blood-colored sword took shape, no more than a few feet long.
It was forged from translucent Blood Crystals and floated silently, a focal point for all the endless resentment and foul stench.
"In my centuries of cultivation, these three bloodlines are the ones I’m most satisfied with. They’ll still be useful even when I reach Divinity Transformation. This Blood Infant Three-Part Divine Skill of mine is a far cry from the legendary ’One Qi Transformed into the Three Pristine Ones’ of the Daoist Family, but within my Blood Sea, it’s the equivalent of having three Mid-Stage Nascent Soul cultivators fighting for me. As long as your Realm is weaker than mine, these three Blood Shadows can exist indefinitely, drawing on the Blood Sea to replenish their True Essence."
After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the Blood Shadow finally completed its spell. The small, blood-colored sword floated to the spot between its eyebrows.
"This bloodline comes from a mysterious Blood Mosquito dwelling in the depths of our Sect’s Blood Sea. Born to thrive in the most putrid filth, it brings plague and pestilence wherever it goes. One strike from this sword will shatter your Sea of Consciousness and annihilate your Primordial Spirit, turning you into a mindless simpleton... What a pity. I had originally planned to capture you and perform a Soul Search. I wanted to find out why Qingqiu Mountain’s attitude changed so dramatically, why they insisted I capture you, and why they were willing to offer a drop of a Nine-Tailed Celestial Fox’s Essence Blood as the reward!"
This reward from Qingqiu Mountain was one the Blood God True Monarch simply could not refuse.
His best-case scenario had been to obtain a few drops of Eight-Tailed Demon Fox Essence Blood; he would have been more than satisfied with that.
If he could truly obtain the Essence Blood of a Divinity Transformation Demon Lord, it would undoubtedly allow his Hundred Demons Blood Sea Technique to break through to the next level, and he could ride that momentum to advance to the Late-Stage Nascent Soul Realm.
As for things like the divide between humans and demons, or the taboo of helping the Demon Race—the Blood God True Monarch couldn’t care less.
As long as he could reach Divinity Transformation, what happened to the rest of the Cultivation Realm was none of his concern.
The small, blood-colored sword flashed, instantly teleporting in front of Bai Zichen. Its bloody light slashed out from afar.
The attack appeared to have no physical lethality, but within Bai Zichen’s Sea of Consciousness, a titanic Blood-Colored Flying Sword materialized, threatening to cleave that inner world in two.
Before it even began its descent, the very space of his Sea of Consciousness began to tremble violently.
The next moment, starlight flared across the celestial dome of his mind. An even grander and more majestic aura, one that embodied the righteous principles of heaven and earth, emerged.
It swept down, meeting the strike of the Blood-Colored Flying Sword head-on.
It was like an ant trying to shake a great tree. Not a single ripple was made.
"How is that possible!"
The Blood God True Monarch was stunned. Bai Zichen had clearly been hit by his self-created, Primordial Spirit-annihilating sword strike, yet he stood there completely unfazed, not even flinching.
He had once used this very sword to instantly kill a troublesome Mid-Stage Gu Cultivator in the Hundred Thousand Evil Mountains of the Southern Border!
"I didn’t want to trouble you, Venerable One, but it seems I must now ask for your help..."
The Blood God True Monarch had to admit it: his plan to easily capture Bai Zichen had failed.
The young man had yet to reveal his true swordsmanship or Divine Techniques, yet his defense was as solid as a fortress, repelling every one of his attacks.
His remaining techniques were not fundamentally different from what he had already tried. He would have to rely on the Abi Heavenly Prison Demon Sword.
This was a major drawback of the Hundred Demons Blood Sea Technique: it was unrivaled for self-preservation and survival, but it lacked a single, decisive Divine Technique to end a fight.
Even for an expert practitioner like the Blood God True Monarch, it proved insufficient when facing a truly well-matched opponent.
However, with a Tier Five Flying Sword in hand, all its shortcomings could be overcome.
