Investing in My Wife: But She's Already the Strongest!
Chapter 16: Miya’s Friends
Enzo knew that his strength couldn’t remain hidden forever.
Although he was surprised, he remained calm. It was the people who knew him who were actually jealous.
"Sir, perhaps you’ve misunderstood," he said.
"Oh? Misunderstood? How did I misunderstand? Are you saying Miya didn’t give you anything and you overcame your problem on your own?" the bald middle-aged man asked.
"You can ask Mr. Joe," Enzo replied.
Everyone then turned their attention to the old man.
"Master Alexander, Lady hasn’t given Master Enzo any cultivation resources," Mr. Joe said. "Perhaps Master Enzo found his own path. After all, he has been locking himself in his room these past few days. If someone keeps trying, there will always be a chance of finding a way."
"I can confirm that he has never consumed any cultivation resources."
Suddenly, someone else spoke. It was a tall and glamorous blonde woman with wavy hair, wearing an elegant black dress and covered in luxurious jewelry.
She was the only Western woman among the three women.
When she spoke, everyone’s attention shifted toward her.
From the way everyone looked at her, Enzo guessed that she commanded the highest level of respect here, which naturally showed just how extraordinary she was.
"Hahaha, since Lady Martin has spoken, then it must be true. It seems I really did misunderstand," Alexander laughed.
’Lady Martin.’
Enzo finally knew who the woman was.
There were two women who had been the most famous in the country over the past few years: Miya Stanley and Isabel Martin.
There was no need to question either of their talents. Both had reached levels of strength that forced everyone to show them respect.
Although Miya might be stronger, Isabel Martin was the granddaughter of Old Martin, the strongest person in the country.
She was special because he was the only major figure in the country who had not sealed himself underground.
The Martin Family was naturally the strongest among the Ten Great Families because of his existence.
"Alexander, it seems you’re not happy about your future brother-in-law. Are you unwilling to let your only younger sister get married? Doesn’t she deserve to be happy too, to experience the beauty of romance and the pleasure of making love? I’m the one who encouraged her to do it. If she grows old without ever experiencing it, all she’ll have left is regret." Isabel giggled.
"Impossible..." Alexander immediately denied it.
"Of course I’m extremely happy for my younger sister on her day of happiness," he said.
He was supposed to be a cold man, but in front of Isabel, he had no choice but to pretend to be friendly.
The discomfort on his face was obvious.
"Enzo, may I sit here?"
Surprisingly, the woman was already standing beside Enzo’s chair.
"Please, Lady Martin," Enzo invited her.
The woman sat down. She rested her elbow on the table and leaned her head against her palm, her face turned toward Enzo.
Her golden eyes stared at him from extremely close range.
Enzo became awkward.
"I really like looking at handsome young men, and you’re truly one of the most handsome I’ve ever seen. Miya is so lucky to have found you," she said.
Enzo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry after hearing that.
All he knew about this woman was her talent and strength. He had never heard about her strange habits.
Even Mr. Joe looked awkward, but he clearly couldn’t reprimand this woman either.
As for Eva, she looked uneasy because Enzo was capable of attracting the attention of a woman like this.
"Isabel, don’t go overboard with your friend’s future husband."
The other two women also moved to Enzo’s table, but in a much more normal manner.
The one who reprimanded Isabel was the Chinese woman. She had long black hair and an elegant appearance, wearing a tight black dress without excessive accessories.
"Am I going overboard? I’m merely appreciating beauty," Isabel replied.
"I think this is going too far," the Middle Eastern woman added.
She had curly brown hair and light brown skin. She wore a long white dress that even covered her shoes.
"Oh, you two are too stiff." Isabel shook her head.
"Enzo, let me introduce myself. My name is Xia Xinghe. Miya and I have been friends for a long time. You can call me Sister Xinghe." The Chinese woman introduced herself to Enzo, completely ignoring Isabel.
She picked up a cup of wine and raised it toward Enzo for a toast.
Clang!
Enzo clinked his glass against hers.
"Greetings, Sister Xinghe," he said.
"And I’m Yasmin. Just call me Sister Yasmin. If you ever go to the Middle East, just contact me. I’ll make sure everything you need is taken care of." The Middle Eastern woman introduced herself as well, smiling confidently.
"Enzo, unfortunately, I can’t make the same promise. Yasmin is a Princess of the Arab Kingdom, while I’m merely the younger sister of one of the leader of the Great Families in China," Xia Xinghe said.
"Hmph, you two are so cunning..." Isabel snorted.
"How are we being cunning?" Xia Xinghe asked in confusion.
"Hmph! Hmph!" Isabel merely continued snorting.
Enzo sank into his own thoughts.
These three should be Miya’s closest friends.
They seemed like people who were difficult to predict.
As he interacted with the three women, the Stanley Family could only stare at him while suppressing their displeasure.
"By the way, where is Miya? Why is she taking so long? Does she even want to get married or not?" Isabel asked Mr. Joe.
The latter glanced at his watch.
"Soon. Lady probably hasn’t finished getting ready yet," Mr. Joe replied.
Everyone was indeed waiting for Miya, but it was understandable that she hadn’t appeared immediately.
"Ladies and gentlemen, before the bride arrives, let’s move on to our next performance."
The host standing among the guests spoke again.
"This time, we will witness a display of strength from the Young Master of the Stanley Family, Bryan Stanley. Young Master Bryan, please come onto the stage..."
"Woooah!"
Thunderous applause echoed throughout the venue when the guests heard the announcement.
At that moment, a man in his mid-twenties stepped toward the performance stage.
He had curly purple hair and a handsome, approachable face.
Even as he walked, he exuded an aura that caused many people to unconsciously nod.
"He’s already at Level 8. Truly a genius," people commented.
