Chapter 673: Chapter 624: A Middle Rank War King Comes to Show Off
In Tu Xiao’an’s eyes, it was truly rare to find a Snake Species worthy of his attention.
He reckoned that only the appearance of one of those freakishly powerful Snake Species from the legends would make him look twice.
The words "Battle Companion" struck the Dragon Snake like a thunderbolt, leaving it stunned and utterly dumbfounded.
The nearby Demons all cast sympathetic glances at the Dragon Snake.
Becoming a Battle Companion was equivalent to becoming a vassal’s puppet, devoid of a complete soul or a free body.
’Serves it right for being so high-profile and showing off.’
"You’re unwilling?" Tu Xiao’an took a deep look at the Dragon Snake. He noticed its purple stripes were somewhat similar to his own back then.
The Dragon Snake’s long body trembled violently with fear and shock. It was a Dragon Snake blessed with great luck, protected by a Xiangyun, and exuded an air of nobility. How could it possibly become someone’s Battle Companion?
But the one before it was too powerful, his status too high. He was the King of the Snake Clan. It didn’t even dare to utter a word of refusal.
Besides, this was happening in public. To reject its own clan’s king to his face would likely bring about a fatal disaster.
"You can refuse," Tu Xiao’an said, "but let me, the Snake King, tell you this: though you are blessed with luck, your greatest luck will be the chance to become my Battle Companion. If you miss this opportunity, you won’t even have a chance to reach Rank Three of Enlightenment. And without reaching Rank Three, you will forever remain an ant among the masses."
Tu Xiao’an didn’t want to subdue it by force. He had a certain image to maintain now; he had to win it over with virtue.
Besides, to forcibly subdue a mere Rank Two Snake Species... did he, the Snake King, have no face to lose?
The Dragon Snake was speechless for a long time, as if petrified. For a moment, it couldn’t tell if this was its good fortune or its doom.
"I’ll give you ten minutes to consider."
After all, they were both snakes, so Tu Xiao’an was being relatively polite.
Suddenly, a commotion broke out up ahead, and a Demon’s furious roar rang out.
"Damned human, get lost! Scram now if you don’t want to be eaten by this Demon!"
"You’re courting death! A mere Rank Two Spirit Monster dares to be so insolent. How absurd."
A powerful palm strike, imbued with terrifying killing power, shot out. The roaring Spirit Monster was instantly obliterated, turning to ash.
"Oh no, it’s a human Middle Rank War King!"
The Rank Two Demons retreated as a group, their eyes glinting menacingly as they stared daggers at the dozen or so humans marching straight into the square.
"You’re lucky to have escaped the Demon Spirit Prison and been released without charge. If the Bureau Chief hadn’t given the order, not a single one of you Demon Beasts would have left Wencheng alive. Now, if you don’t want to be killed by me, the War King, then stay far away."
This was a middle-aged man with a powerful and naturally imposing aura. He was a famous War King Level expert in Wencheng. He had arrived in grand fashion with a dozen or so Rank Two Martial Cultivators, completely disregarding the Demons present.
This was because these Demons had renounced killing, becoming lambs without fangs.
Arrogance was written all over the faces of these young Martial Cultivators. Weren’t these evolved Demons so incredible? Wreaking havoc in Wencheng, and now they still had to bend to the will of humans.
Kill them or release them as they pleased—in the end, humans were still the Sovereigns of this Earth.
"Ugly freaks! Demon Beasts! What are you looking at?"
A sword-wielding Martial Cultivator arrogantly taunted the surrounding Demons, his domineering attitude on full display.
BOOM!
The space instantly trembled as terrifying waves of Demon Qi enveloped the area. The sword-wielding Martial Cultivator’s face turned pale. He stood frozen to the spot, cold sweat pouring down his spine as the fear of death gripped his heart.
Seeing this, the Middle Rank War King immediately bellowed, "Hmph? You Demon Beasts dare to cause trouble? Do you still want to return to the Yaoling Mountain Range alive?"
"Everyone, don’t be rash! Lord Snake King has given an order: we are not to kill humans."
A Demon spoke softly, causing many of the angered Demons to restrain their Demon Qi.
"Hmph, they’re lucky. A dozen or so people dare to put on airs in front of us? If the Snake King hadn’t given the order, this Demon would have swallowed them whole in one bite," a Demon grumbled indignantly.
If the Demons weren’t holding back, these dozen or so human Martial Cultivators would be useless, even with a Middle Rank War King among them. There were plenty of Rank Three Demon Spirits in the square. If they were enraged, these humans wouldn’t even be enough to pick their teeth with.
"Don’t be afraid. These Demon Beasts don’t dare to make a move right now. All of you, stand up straight! Don’t bring shame upon the Wencheng Martial Cultivation Realm," the Middle Rank War King said to the Martial Cultivators beside him.
"All of you, get lost! Don’t block the way, or don’t blame this War King for being merciless," the Middle Rank War King said coldly, taking the lead.
The Demons were furious but dared not speak, so they could only endure it.
But then they saw the direction the group of humans was heading and broke into cruel, mocking smiles. Countless pairs of eyes stared over in unison, as if watching a dozen or so little lambs.
"Sir, the Dragon Snake is just ahead," one sharp-eyed Cultivator said quickly.
The War King’s eyes lit up. He nodded and walked over.
When the group approached the Dragon Snake, they saw a refined-looking young man standing in front of it. The Middle Rank War King was surprised. ’This kid has some serious guts, daring to stand alone in a crowd of Demons. Isn’t he afraid of being torn to shreds?’
"Where did this junior come from? Quite the nerve."
The Middle Rank War King strode over imposingly, looking at the young man.
"Junior?" Tu Xiao’an was slightly taken aback when he heard this. He glanced over, his eyes narrowing slightly.
*Ding!* Qin Yong, Level 33, Middle Rank War King, one of Wencheng’s experts.
’A Level 33 Rank Three Creature from Wencheng. Interesting. It seems he’s mistaken me for an ordinary Awakened Martial Cultivator.’
