Invincible Snake Emperor
Chapter 815: Using the Entire Demon Management Bureau as Bait
As Ling Yihang entered, the atmosphere in the private room became excellent and lively.
After everyone exchanged pleasantries, Ling Yihang’s gaze suddenly landed on a corner, and he frowned slightly.
Out of the four men and one woman in the room, only the man in the corner hadn’t greeted him upon his arrival.
“May I ask who this brother is?” Ling Yihang asked politely, his demeanor as refined and gentle as jade as he looked at Tu Xiao’an, who was holding a white fox in the corner.
“That is the representative of City X, Brother Tu,” Du Jun introduced with a chuckle.
“Oh…” Ling Yihang mused softly as he walked over to Tu Xiao’an and extended a hand. “I didn’t expect Brother Tu to be representing Lord Luo from City X. Please forgive my lack of manners. Lord Luo has made tremendous contributions to humanity. She closed the first War Relics and created a miracle. I have long admired Lord Luo.”
He had no interest in shaking hands. What did this man mean by claiming he had long admired his woman?
“Hello!” Tu Xiao’an nodded indifferently and didn’t extend his hand. The fact that he didn’t slap the man was already quite merciful.
The others in the private room immediately frowned. What a huge ego! He actually dared to deny Ling Yihang face. Did he really think he was an official department head? Even if Lord Luo were here in person, she wouldn’t dare act so presumptuously. What was a mere representative putting on airs for?
Ling Yihang simply smiled without much change in his expression. He quietly withdrew his hand, but his gaze remained locked onto Tu Xiao’an. His eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint flashing within.
“Brother Tu is truly no ordinary person. No wonder Lord Luo sent you here.”
“This representative is naturally no ordinary person,” the boss of City E, Shao Qiu, said mockingly. “He’s even holding a Demon King Level white fox as a pet in his arms. It truly makes the rest of us envious.”
Ling Yihang glanced at the white fox in Tu Xiao’an’s arms but wasn’t shocked. Instead, he laughed. “A Demon King Level white fox is peerless in the world, as powerful as Gods and Demons, yet in front of Brother Tu here, it is reduced to a mere pet.”
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone was astonished. Why did the top boss rate this representative from City X so highly? A Demon King Level Great Demon was merely a pet in his presence? That was incredibly high praise.
Tu Xiao’an looked directly at Ling Yihang in slight surprise. Had this person seen through his identity? Otherwise, why would he say that? Well, it didn’t matter to Tu Xiao’an whether his identity was seen through or not, but this person was quite interesting. He was strong—incredibly strong.
Among the people Tu Xiao’an currently knew in the human realm, perhaps only Dean Wang Bo could suppress him. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a prominent figure right after arriving in City B. However, no matter how great a figure was, they could not compare to him, Lord Gong of the Yaoling Mountain Range.
He decided to ignore it and continue hiding his merits and staying low-profile. Tu Xiao’an was just here to go through the motions anyway.
“Haha, now that everyone is here,” Du Jun stood up, his gaze sweeping across the bosses present as he spoke politely. “First of all, thank you all for traveling thousands of miles to give Du Mou face. I won’t say any overly polite words, but Du Mou will keep this favor in my heart.
“Next, let’s talk business. You must already know why Du Mou summoned you all here.
“I’ll set aside the matter of the World Tree Ruins in City B for now. Our main priority is to capture a fierce beast that emerged from the World Tree Ruins. It is known as the Ghost Demon. Elusive and coming and going like a phantom wind, it leaves a trail of innocent civilians dying tragic deaths wherever it passes, causing widespread panic in my City B.
“Bosses, Du Mou is untalented and unable to catch that hidden Ghost Demon. Now, I can only rely on your divine techniques.”
“Boss Du, there’s no need to be so polite. Tell us more about that Ghost Demon,” said the boss of City W, Yan Guan.
“Is it really a fierce beast? I’ve read a lot of reports, and it feels more like a ghost. It seems capable of controlling people’s desires,” asked the boss of City Q, Qu Ping.
Since they had come to help, they had naturally looked into the matter and knew some inside information. To this day, no one had seen the Ghost Demon’s true face. All that was known were the cases of innocent civilians going mad and torturing themselves to death. Dying tragically by their own hands was truly a miserable way to go.
“Brother Qu is joking. How could there be a ghost? It’s just a fierce beast that emerged from the World Tree Ruins. It probably has some special divine techniques that make it rather tricky to deal with. As you all know, controlling ordinary people to commit suicide isn’t really a great skill.”
Actually, controlling ordinary people to go mad could easily be done by a Rank Three Demon Spirit. The difficult part was that the Ghost Demon hid too well, cloaking itself in an incredibly mysterious veil.
“Brother Dou, looking at you, I suspect you already have some clues about that Ghost Demon,” Shao Qiu’s eyes flickered. “You couldn’t possibly expect us to search the whole city for a ghost’s shadow.”
Du Jun smiled. “That’s right. I invited you all here not to search, but to capture. I already have a plan to deal with that Ghost Demon.”
“You have a plan? That’s wonderful!” The bosses were a bit surprised. If they only had to capture it, things would be much easier. After all, they were all bosses of their respective cities and were busy people; they couldn’t afford to waste all their time in City B.
“I must thank Lord Yihang for this,” Du Jun looked at Ling Yihang and said. “It was his idea. Based on the Ghost Demon’s previous crimes, it is a ‘vampire’ that uses some divine technique to control civilians, making them torture themselves and bleed to death, but all that blood eventually disappears.
“Since it disappears, it means the Ghost Demon absorbed it.
“Any bloodthirsty fierce beast will have increasingly higher demands for blood. The blood of ordinary civilians can only satisfy its immediate hunger. Naturally, the best blood in the world is the blood of us martial cultivators.”
“Du Jun, you aren’t planning to use martial cultivators as bait to force the Ghost Demon out, are you?” Shao Qiu asked in shock.
“Haha, exactly! I am using my entire Demon Management Bureau in City B as bait. I’ve summoned all my subordinates to the bureau and ordered everyone to cut a wound on their arm, releasing the supreme yang and intensely alluring scent of blood.
“If the Ghost Demon loves blood, it will definitely take the bait and come to the Demon Management Bureau once it smells the blood of martial cultivators.
“Furthermore, I’ve set up a massive number of barriers around the Demon Management Bureau. Once it enters, it won’t be able to leave. It will be trapped like a rat in a hole.”
Du Jun revealed his plan excitedly, but apart from Ling Yihang, the other bosses turned a little pale.
What a ruthless scheme.
Even Tu Xiao’an was slightly surprised to hear this. Using the entire Demon Management Bureau as bait and their blood to attract the Ghost Demon’s descent—he really was paying a massive price. After all, no one knew exactly how strong or formidable this Ghost Demon was. If things went wrong, everyone in the Demon Management Bureau could lose their lives.
Tu Xiao’an cast a special glance at Ling Yihang. The man was dressed in a sharp, immaculate suit, looking incredibly proper, but he was undeniably ruthless to the bone to have actually proposed such a vicious scheme to Du Jun.
A great man had to be ruthless.
But then again, it made sense. Anyone who could reach Rank Three Perfection on the path of cultivation—a path that defied the heavens—was a ruthless character.
