Chapter 1015: Trust Ye Qingchen

  • Next Chapter

Ye Qingchen suddenly burst into laughter, a hint of relaxation and composure in his voice, as if completely unaffected by Old Liu’s suspicion.

He slowly approached Old Liu, his tone carrying a touch of amusement and contempt, and said in a low voice, “Old Liu, you are attentive, but think carefully, would you really want to see such a delicate girl suffer in this filthy place? To tell you the truth, this girl has already agreed to be with me.”

His eyes carried a hint of disdain, and the smile on his face seemed to have a touch of pride, as if flaunting his victory.

The confidence and assertiveness in Ye Qingchen’s voice caused Old Liu’s doubts to waver slightly.

After all, Ye Qingchen’s calm demeanor and what he said all seemed quite reasonable.

Xiao Xiao saw this and immediately understood Ye Qingchen’s intention.

She lowered her head, her cheeks slightly flushed, showing an expression of shyness and helplessness as if silently acknowledging Ye Qingchen’s words.

She gently bit her lower lip, her gaze showing a bit of reluctance and submission, like a weak woman who had just succumbed to fate.

To make her performance more convincing, Xiao Xiao even stepped back a little, moving closer to Ye Qingchen as if seeking his protection.

Though these actions were subtle, they were filled with cunning and perfectly matched Ye Qingchen’s narrative.

When Old Liu saw this, the taut string in his heart seemed to relax a bit.

He looked at Xiao Xiao’s performance, his frown gradually smoothing out. Although he still felt somewhat puzzled, Ye Qingchen’s calmness and Xiao Xiao’s cooperation made him somewhat believe.

Moreover, considering Ye Qingchen’s status and the control he exhibited, Old Liu’s doubts began to waver.

“This kid really has a way,” Old Liu muttered to himself, “No wonder Young Master Chen values him so highly.” He quietly gathered his turbulent spiritual power, and his expression gradually relaxed.

Ye Qingchen noticed the change in Old Liu’s expression, knowing his plan was halfway successful.

He discreetly let out a sigh of relief while maintaining his composure outwardly.

He gently patted Xiao Xiao’s shoulder, feigning a doting manner, and chuckled, “This place is meant for those scumbags, how could you be like them? Don’t worry, with me here, no one can let you suffer.”

Xiao Xiao slightly lowered her head, showing a hint of gratitude, and softly said, “Thank you, young master.” Her voice was weak but carried a sense of sincerity, gradually dispelling the last of Old Liu’s doubts.

Old Liu finally dropped his guard, nodded, and stopped questioning.

Though he still felt something was strange, the situation in front of him left him no more reasonable explanations.

Da Hei, inside the pigpen, had long fallen into despair and breakdown. His body continuously struggled in the filth, his face covered with grime and sweat, constantly shouting, “Old Liu, don’t believe them! I’m the real Da Hei! They’re fake, they’re impostors!”

However, Old Liu merely gave him a cold glance, his eyes full of disdain and disgust.

He snorted lightly and turned to Ye Qingchen, saying, “This criminal is indeed cunning, even at this point still holding on stubbornly. I don’t know where he learned this facial disguise technique, to be able to make himself look so real. Yet the more he does this, the more dangerous I find him.”

Old Liu’s tone was filled with contempt for Da Hei. He had evidently completely believed Ye Qingchen’s words and was utterly indifferent to Da Hei’s shouts from inside the pigpen.

He shook his head, a cold smile appearing on his face, as if mocking Da Hei’s futile struggle inside the pigpen.

“Such people, even when caught, have nothing to say,” Old Liu continued, with a hint of disdain in his voice, “trying to impersonate others to escape calamity, truly ignorant of lifesaving means. When Young Master Chen arrives, we’ll see what else he has to say.”

He turned to look at Ye Qingchen, his eyes now holding more trust and recognition, “You did the right thing. Such a villain must be closely watched, otherwise who knows what disaster might arise.”

Ye Qingchen smiled slightly, secretly relieved, yet outwardly appearing very composed.

He patted Old Liu on the shoulder, agreeing, “Old Liu certainly has a keen eye, this kind of guy indeed can’t be taken lightly. However, as long as we keep an eye on him, he can’t run away.”

Xiao Xiao stood to the side, looking fearful and compliant, seemingly without any objection to Ye Qingchen’s decision, continuing to use her pitiful appearance to aid in his disguise.

Da Hei in the pigpen watched all this, his inner despair and fear reaching their peak.

His hands were already powerlessly hanging down, his eyes filled with uncontrollable fear and helplessness.

He shook his head repeatedly, murmuring, “No… impossible… how can they believe him… Old Liu… you can’t do this… I’m the real one!”

But Old Liu simply scoffed, completely unmoved by Da Hei’s cries.

He had long decided that Ye Qingchen was the real Da Hei while the one in the pigpen was merely a cunning impostor. Seeing Da Hei’s appearance, Old Liu only snorted coldly, appearing even more disdainful.

“Such people, only capable of petty tricks, really think others can’t see through them?” Old Liu silently mocked. To him, Da Hei in the pigpen no longer had any credibility, and all his struggles and shouts were nothing but the sophistry of someone at death’s door.

Ye Qingchen saw that Old Liu had completely let down his guard, silently feeling pleased.

He quietly took out a delicate wine flask from his bosom, its entire body emerald green with dragon and phoenix carvings, clearly not an ordinary item.

Next, he took out a large piece of golden-yellow meat, rich in oils and exuding a fragrant aroma.

Ye Qingchen gently patted the wine flask and laughed, “Old Liu, this guy now is without the strength to resist, he can’t run either way. I got this fine wine from Young Master Chen, along with a piece of top-quality wild boar meat. Shall we brothers have a drink, eat some meat, and relax well?”

Old Liu, originally still harboring a bit of vigilance, brightened up when he heard Ye Qingchen mention the fine wine from Young Master Chen.

He looked at the wine flask, then at the meat, swallowed a bit, his face full of expectation and excitement. Knowing Chen Rui’s preferences well, he knew this was Chen Family’s treasured fine wine, rarely shared, and now having a chance to taste it, how could he not be tempted?

“This is indeed Young Master Chen’s fine wine!” Old Liu exclaimed excitedly, his tone full of longing and joy, “Da Hei, brother, you’ve really done well this time, being able to acquire Young Master Chen’s fine wine, we’ll have to drink well today.”

He hurriedly stepped forward, grabbing the wine flask Ye Qingchen handed over, his hands slightly trembling.
