Invincible Soul Emperor
Chapter 1037: Fool
Chapter 1037: Chapter 1037: Fool
Chen Rui frowned upon hearing this, then waved his hand with a nonchalant expression.
His gaze fell on the two burlap sacks covered in pig dung, revealing a strong sense of disgust in his eyes.
With disdain, he pursed his lips and spoke with a hint of impatience: "Hmph, these two are already so filthy; it doesn’t matter if they’re dead or alive, Jiang Qi didn’t specify which."
Chen Rui’s words were filled with contempt and disdain, as if the individuals inside those burlap sacks were worthless in his eyes. He was unwilling to even approach the sacks, standing afar with his eyes full of aversion.
He felt Ye Qingchen’s question was unnecessary; they were merely sheep waiting for slaughter, why bother to check?
Thinking this, Chen Rui looked once more at the pig dung-covered sacks on the ground, filled with excitement. It was as though he could already see Jiang Qi’s renewed admiration for him when he presented these two people tomorrow.
A glimmer of greed flashed in Chen Rui’s eyes, his lips curled into a proud smile, unable to hide his inner thrill.
"Haha, throw these two outside, tomorrow I’ll personally deliver them to Jiang Qi!" Chen Rui said excitedly, as if he was eagerly awaiting the prize he so longed for.
He imagined Jiang Qi’s appreciative gaze, and the possible benefits he might receive in the future, which elevated his mood even further.
Ye Qingchen watched Chen Rui’s smug expression, secretly pondering how to avoid accompanying Chen Rui to see Jiang Qi tomorrow.
He then feigned a slightly anxious demeanor and softly said, "Young Master, maybe I shouldn’t go tomorrow. Every time I see Saint Son Jiang, I get so nervous, and if my stomach starts acting up again, wouldn’t that delay your important matters?"
While speaking, he raised his eyes to glance at Chen Rui, showing a hint of apology, as if truly worried that he would hinder Chen Rui.
Upon hearing this, Chen Rui’s smugness instantly vanished, replaced by a face full of distaste.
He furrowed his brow, giving Ye Qingchen an annoyed glance, with impatience lacing his tone: "Ugh, what a useless bum! Just meeting Jiang Qi makes you this anxious, I don’t know why I even keep such a wretch by my side."
He waved his hand, as if unwilling to spare another glance at Ye Qingchen, "Never mind, never mind, just don’t go, lest you mess up my matters. As long as you don’t cause trouble, it’s fine."
Ye Qingchen lowered his head, concealing his relief, still maintaining a respectful expression on his face, nodding repeatedly in agreement: "Yes, Young Master, I understand."
Chen Rui paid no further attention to Ye Qingchen, his mind filled with anticipation and expectations for tomorrow.
He already started planning how to showcase his abilities and loyalty in front of Jiang Qi tomorrow.
Ye Qingchen stood silently to the side, a cold glint flashed through his eyes, already planning his next move.
Early the next morning, Chen Rui was eager, having already prepared himself; he summoned two guards, instructing them to lift the foul-smelling large sacks from the ground.
The guards frowned, enduring the stench at the tip of their noses, cautiously reaching out to grip the corners of the sacks, avoiding direct contact with the filthy parts as much as possible.
Two guards combined their efforts and lifted the sacks, their faces unwittingly showing expressions of disgust.
The heaviness of the sacks, combined with the pervasive pig dung smell in the air, filled them with displeasure, but in front of Chen Rui, they dared not exhibit any dissatisfaction, gritting their teeth while following his orders.
Chen Rui walked ahead, his steps light and confident, filled with pride.
He occasionally glanced back at the lifted sacks, planning in his mind how to earn major credit with Jiang Qi today, basking in future glory and wealth.
Thinking of this, the smile on his face became more pronounced, as if he was dizzy with the imminent victory.
All along the way, Chen Rui frequently urged the guards to quicken their pace, afraid of missing the timing to meet Jiang Qi. The guards could only grit their teeth and quicken their steps, enduring the stench emanating from the sacks.
Soon, they arrived at Jiang Qi’s palace entrance.
The guards at the door saw Chen Rui, first respectfully saluting, then their gaze fell on the two sacks behind him.
Closer to Chen Rui, the stench became increasingly overwhelming, causing the guards to frown, displaying clear signs of revulsion.
"Young Master Chen," one guard said, covering his nose, with a hint of hesitation and embarrassment in his tone, glancing at the foul-smelling sacks, unable to resist speaking, "Our Saint Son really detests these filthy things, you see... should we perhaps forget it? Bringing such things into the palace might upset Saint Son."
Another guard nodded repeatedly, obviously feeling disdain for the foul-smelling sacks.
They could already imagine that if Jiang Qi caught a whiff of this smell, he might fly into a rage, and then even they wouldn’t escape punishment.
Chen Rui looked at the two guards with a face full of disdain, as if not facing guards, but a bunch of ignorant fools.
"Hmph," Chen Rui snorted coldly, mocking in his tone, "You servants are so shortsighted! Do you know what’s inside these sacks? They’re the major culprits Saint Son ordered directly! If Saint Son issues an order himself, these two are not simple!" He lifted his chin, arrogantly glancing around, as if saying that this matter was equally significant to him.
Chen Rui stepped forward, smugly continuing, "Don’t think Saint Son will mind the smell; in Saint Son’s eyes, only achievements matter, who cares about these trivial matters. When he sees these two, you’ll see me earn major credit!"
The guards were taken aback by Chen Rui’s words, showing hints of panic and unease.
They exchanged glances, although still extremely uncomfortable with the stench, they dared not say anything more.
Chen Rui’s confidence and arrogance made them reluctant to easily refute; after all, they were merely servants, how could they defy Chen Rui’s orders.
One guard, biting the bullet, said softly, "Yes, Young Master Chen, we... we’ll go and report."
He covered his nose, his face trembling as if afraid that saying another word would spark Chen Rui’s wrath.
Then he nervously turned and quickly walked towards the palace door, his palms sweaty, fearing that the stench would provoke Jiang Qi as he reported in.
The other guard stood nearby, equally uneasy, occasionally sneaking a glance at Chen Rui’s expression, afraid that he might do something wrong to incur dissatisfaction from this master.
Meanwhile, he was also guessing in his mind what kind of "major culprits" were inside those sacks that led Chen Rui to be so confidently assured.
