Invincible Soul Emperor
Chapter 1041: Or Die
Chapter 1041: Chapter 1041: Or Die
Jiang Qi’s face instantly turned ashen, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes flickering with extreme anger and humiliation.
Originally full of expectation, thinking he was about to catch Ye Qingchen, yet he was utterly humiliated in front of everyone, especially Elder Li.
He felt a massive insult, the anger burning rapidly in his heart like a flame.
"Chen Rui! You useless fool!" Jiang Qi roared in anger, his voice echoing like thunder within the hall.
He suddenly turned around, with eyes full of murderous fury, glaring at Chen Rui, "You actually brought these two piles of garbage to disgust me? Do you know what place this is? This is my palace, not a dumping ground for your trash! How dare you embarrass yourself in front of me!"
He was so agitated that his fingers trembled violently, almost wanting to rush up and give Chen Rui a harsh lesson.
He wished to kick Chen Rui out of the hall right then and there; the humiliation making his expression terrifyingly ugly.
"Do you know what I am waiting for? Yet you dare bring these two pieces of trash to see me? And make me lose face in front of Elder Li!" Jiang Qi almost gritted through these words, every word dripping with endless hatred.
Chen Rui, intimidated by Jiang Qi’s fury, turned pale, his legs trembling slightly, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.
He knew he got into big trouble, but he couldn’t argue; he could only hang his head low, unable to utter a word.
Even the normally calm Elder Li beside them seemed somewhat displeased.
She folded her arms, watching all of this coldly, a faint flicker of disappointment and disdain in her eyes.
She did not get angry but watched Jiang Qi vent his rage with an almost indifferent attitude, a bit of speechlessness and annoyance radiating from her eyebrows.
"Jiang Qi, you actually made me come all this way for nothing, and now I have to smell this disgusting odor." Elder Li shook her head slightly, her tone imbued with unavoidable disappointment and sarcasm, "Jiang Qi cannot even handle such a small matter, you shouldn’t have asked me to come."
Elder Li’s words were like a basin of cold water directly extinguishing Jiang Qi’s fury, making him feel even more ashamed.
He forcibly suppressed the anger and unwillingness in his heart, bowing his head to apologize to Elder Li, yet no matter what, he couldn’t salvage the already embarrassing situation.
Chen Rui stood shivering aside, feeling as if he were in an ice cellar, filled with panic, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into.
He realized that today’s matter had made him completely lose face in front of Jiang Qi and Elder Li.
Thinking of this, Chen Rui turned pale, his legs almost unable to stand, knowing he had angered Jiang Qi, and the only thing he could do now was desperately beg for mercy.
He trembled with both hands, shakily kneeling on the ground, his voice quivering as he said, "Saint Heir, please don’t be angry, this time I truly got set up by someone! I was completely in the dark! Please give me one more chance; I promise I won’t disappoint you again!"
Chen Rui’s voice was full of fear and pleading, cold sweat flowing nonstop from his forehead, his heart in chaos.
At this moment, he could only be humble, hoping for Jiang Qi’s forgiveness. He practically lay prostrate on the ground, afraid to raise his head, fearing to provoke him further.
Jiang Qi’s fury did not lessen at all with Chen Rui’s pleading for forgiveness but rather intensified his inner disdain because of his weakness.
He coldly watched Chen Rui kneeling on the ground, his gaze full of disdain and anger, with a tone as cold as the wind in the depth of winter, "With that little capability of yours, what can you accomplish? You think I would trust you again? If I send you back, what use will you have? By then, who knows what kind of trouble you’ll stir up!"
Every word from Jiang Qi was like a knife stabbing into Chen Rui’s heart, making him shrink in fear.
Chen Rui felt as though the blood in his body had been frozen; he knew he had lost Jiang Qi’s trust, and even the last trace of hope had been ruthlessly shattered.
"Saint Heir, please give me another chance!" Chen Rui almost cried out in despair and fear, "I will make sure to get things done, and I won’t let you down again!"
Jiang Qi still coldly stared at him, with no trace of sympathy in his eyes, only complete disgust.
For someone as useless as Chen Rui, he had lost all patience, only thinking of how to quickly solve this troublesome matter, not wanting to waste any more time.
Elder Li was originally planning to leave, but seeing Chen Rui’s panicked and nearly collapsing state, she paused, looking at him thoughtfully.
She suddenly turned around, and indifferently said to Jiang Qi, "Saint Heir, considering how sincere he is, why not give him one last chance? Give him two days. If he can bring Ye Qingchen back, it will serve as atonement. If not, then completely deal with him to avoid further nuisance."
Elder Li’s words were light yet sharp as a knife, cold and ruthless. She made no effort to hide her contempt for Chen Rui, speaking as if deciding upon an inconsequential life or death sentence.
To her, the life and death of Chen Rui were merely trivial decisions, devoid of any compassion.
Jiang Qi heard Elder Li’s suggestion, a trace of hesitation flashed in his eyes.
Originally he wanted to eliminate Chen Rui immediately, as this useless person had already caused him to lose face and made such a fool of him in front of Elder Li.
But Elder Li was, after all, an Elder within the Sect. With her advising, Jiang Qi couldn’t immediately dismiss her proposal. After some thought, he reluctantly nodded and said, "Fine, in respect of Elder Li, I’ll give you one more chance."
His tone was still full of coldness and impatience, clearly extremely dissatisfied with Chen Rui’s performance, but he ultimately suppressed his anger and decided to spare Chen Rui for the time being.
Upon hearing Jiang Qi’s words, Chen Rui felt as if he had been pulled back from the brink of Hell, immediately filled with gratitude.
He lay prostrate on the ground, almost wanting to kowtow in thanks, tears nearly flowing out, repeatedly saying, "Thank you, Saint Heir and Elder Li, for your great kindness! I will spare no effort to bring Ye Qingchen back within two days and will not let you down!"
Chen Rui’s voice was full of post-crisis relief and gratitude, aware that he had just narrowly escaped death.
If not for Elder Li’s intervention, he might have already lost his life on the spot.
Thinking of this, Chen Rui expressed his gratitude even more fervently, knowing that he couldn’t waste this final opportunity.
Jiang Qi coldly glanced at Chen Rui, waved his hand, full of impatience in his tone, "Get out, I don’t want to see you again."
His disgust was unmasked, clearly showing he no longer had any trust or patience for Chen Rui.
Chen Rui, as if granted amnesty, hurriedly took his people and left in a sorry state.
They quickly lifted the dying Da Hei and Old Liu from the ground; the two were already lifeless, their bodies covered with filth from the pigsty, emitting a stench that was unbearable.
