Chapter 346: Intimidating the Tier Seven Great Demon

Seeing how scared Luo Yu and the others were, Su Mo shook his head slightly.

Little did they know, he had scared all the Demon Beasts away.

When he had released his Soul Power earlier, he'd intentionally laced it with killing intent to prevent those Demon Beasts from causing trouble.

After all, they were Tier Six.

If he acted rashly, his true strength would be exposed.

Luo Yu's face was deathly pale. "Brother Xiao, you're powerful. You should run. You're the only one who can escape."

"Then what about the rest of you?"

Su Mo asked.

Luo Yu lowered her head, her voice full of despair. "We'll... we'll just wait here to die."

Su Mo was speechless.

'Wait to die?'

'Of all the things she could come up with...'

Seeing Su Mo still standing there, Luo Yu pleaded, "Brother Xiao, it's not that I'm looking down on you. But no matter how strong you are, you can't possibly kill more than twenty Tier Six Great Demons. You, however, can escape."

"I'm not the kind of person who abandons his friends."

Su Mo refused without hesitation.

Luo Yu was so frantic she was on the verge of tears. "But we don't want to drag you down with us! If you don't go, I'll... I'll kill myself right here in front of you."

With that, Luo Yu raised her longsword and pressed it to her neck.

If Su Mo didn't agree to leave, she would slit her throat right then and there, dying in front of him so she wouldn't be a burden.

"Senior Sister Luo is right. You should go. Don't worry about us."

"Brother Xiao, please, we're begging you."

Liu Ming and Gao Qiang clenched their fists, their faces etched with despair.

They never would have dreamed that right after dealing with the Demon Leopard crisis, they'd immediately run into more than twenty even stronger Tier Six Demon Beasts.

'What rotten fucking luck.'

Su Mo, however, remained unfazed. "Then go ahead and kill yourself."

"What?"

Liu Ming and Gao Qiang stared at Su Mo, dumbfounded. They couldn't believe what they were hearing.

'Su Mo actually told Luo Yu to kill herself?'

'He can't be serious!'

'Even though we know we're dead for sure, we want to at least go down fighting. What if, by some miracle, we get lucky and survive?'

'Is Su Mo not even going to give us a chance to fight for our lives?'

"I'm not leaving!"

Su Mo said firmly, "But before you kill yourself, how about a little bet?"

'A bet?'

Luo Yu was so infuriated by Su Mo she was left dumbfounded.

'What is he thinking? Now, of all times, he wants to make a bet with me? Does he have a death wish?'

"What's the bet?"

Luo Yu demanded, fuming.

Su Mo glanced at the darkening sky. "We'll stay here tonight. The bet is whether those Demon Beasts will come to kill us."

"Have you lost your mind?"

Luo Yu stared at Su Mo in horror.

Su Mo said calmly, "Either you take the bet, or you kill yourself. I'm not leaving, regardless. I'm spending the night here."

With that, Su Mo gathered some nearby branches and skillfully started a campfire.

Then, Su Mo even caught a few rabbits and set them on a spit to roast over the flames.

SIZZLE!

Fat dripped into the campfire, sizzling as it burned.

Seeing that Su Mo was adamant about not leaving, Liu Ming relented. "Fine, we'll take the bet. What happens if you lose?"

"If I lose, I'll take Little Tuantuan and leave."

Su Mo said calmly.

Liu Ming said, "Alright, it's a deal."

Su Mo picked up a piece of roasted rabbit. "Come on, have some. It's better to sleep on a full stomach. You won't be able to sleep if you're hungry."

"You're actually thinking about sleeping?"

Luo Yu was utterly speechless.

'We're in the middle of an ancient forest, with more than twenty Tier Six Great Demons watching us like prey.'

'How could Su Mo possibly think about sleeping in a situation this dangerous?'

'He's a complete madman.'

Su Mo took a couple of bites of rabbit meat. "Meat alone isn't enough. Brother Liu, Brother Gao, did either of you bring any wine?"

"I do!"

Liu Ming retrieved two large jars of wine from his Storage Ring and handed them to Su Mo.

"Don't you dare drink that! If you get drunk, we won't even have the strength to put up a fight. We'll be lambs to the slaughter for the Demon Beasts."

Luo Yu fumed, trying to stop him, nearly knocking the wine jar over in the process.

Su Mo leaned aside, dodging Luo Yu's lunge. He grabbed the wine jar, took a huge swig, and exclaimed as the alcohol burned its way down, "Ah, that's good wine!"

GLUG...

In two great gulps, Su Mo drained the entire jar.

Luo Yu, filled with rage, demanded, "What is wrong with you? Don't you value your own life? Will you only be satisfied once you're dead?"

"Either of you want some?"

Su Mo ignored Luo Yu's outburst, instead turning and offering the remaining jar to Liu Ming and Gao Qiang.

They both shook their heads.

GLUG!

Su Mo finished off the wine, contentedly ate two wild rabbits, and then lay down on the ground and fell fast asleep, completely ignoring Luo Yu.

「Early the next morning.」

Su Mo blearily opened his eyes. "Is it morning already? Huh... what's wrong with the three of you?"

Their eyes were bloodshot, and dark circles ringed them.

"We..."

Liu Ming stammered, unable to get the words out.

Su Mo's expression darkened. "Don't tell me you didn't sleep all night? Sigh, what was the point of that? Anyway, we can go now."

The group packed up their things and left the woods.

Liu Ming said, "Junior Brother Gao, didn't you find last night strange?"

"It was a little strange!"

Gao Qiang tilted his head. "Usually, when we spend the night in the forest, we get ambushed by Demon Beasts. But last night... it was silent. I didn't even hear a cricket."

"You don't think it was haunted, do you?"

Liu Ming speculated.

Gao Qiang shook his head. "No way it was a ghost. Even if it was, it would have been Brother Xiao pretending to be one to scare off all those Demon Beasts."

"Should we go ask him?"

Liu Ming suggested.

Luo Yu beat them to it. "I'll ask. Brother Xiao, why didn't any Demon Beasts attack us last night? Was that your doing?"

"I didn't do anything!"

Su Mo fabricated an excuse. "It's probably because the Demon Beasts thought we were too weak. They didn't want to eat us, so we got through the night safely."

"You're lying!"

Luo Yu saw right through him.

Demon Beasts and humans were mortal enemies. No matter how weak a human was, a Demon Beast would always try to kill them. The scenario Su Mo described would never happen.

Su Mo chuckled. "Then maybe it's because I look so fierce I scared all the Demon Beasts away."

"..."

Luo Yu was at a loss for words.

Not far behind the group, more than twenty Demon Beasts were huddled together, their faces pale as they watched the humans, shivering.

Only when the group had disappeared from sight did the expressions on the faces of the twenty-odd Demon Beasts finally ease.

"They're finally gone!"

The twenty-odd Demon Beasts breathed a heavy, collective sigh of relief.

The Black Demon Bear at the center of the group wiped away cold sweat. "Son of a bitch, I was nearly scared to death by those humans last night."

"What?"

The twenty-odd Demon Beasts were stunned.

'They knew that man was strong, but surely not strong enough to scare the Black Demon Bear to death.'

'He was their Demon Emperor, after all!'

The Black Demon Bear trembled. "Your tiers are too low, so you couldn't sense that man's terrifying killing intent. But I, your Emperor, could feel it. If he wanted to kill me, it would be as easy as slaughtering a dog."

"He's that terrifying?"

The Demon Beasts were completely stupefied.

The Black Demon Bear nodded. "He released just a sliver of his killing intent, and it was enough to make me tremble from head to toe. If he had unleashed all of it, I would be on my knees before him right now, unable to even stand."
