Invincible Starting From the Nine Dragons Technique
Chapter 444: Surprise and Disappointment
The Fallen Star Sect Master asked skeptically, “You claim you broke the Nine Stars Falling Array. What proof do you have?”
It wasn’t that he was unwilling to believe.
It was simply too outrageous.
Su Mo pointed at Zheng Qiushan and the others, saying, “They were all present when I broke the Nine Stars Falling Array. They are my proof.”
The Fallen Star Sect Master glanced questioningly at Zheng Qiushan.
Zheng Qiushan stepped forward and said, “Sect Leader, I did see him break the Nine Stars Falling Array with just the snap of his fingers.”
“I saw it too!”
“And me!”
“We all saw it!”
Several Martial Emperor Elders from the Meteor Sect stepped forward one after another to vouch for Su Mo.
Now, the Fallen Star Sect Master was utterly shocked.
He had no choice but to believe.
The Grand Elder pulled the Fallen Star Sect Master aside. “Sect Leader, take it easy,” he said. “I don’t think we can afford to offend this person.”
“Why can’t we afford to offend him?”
The Fallen Star Sect Master asked suspiciously.
The Grand Elder’s expression turned grave. “Because he might be a Divine-level expert.”
“Divine Level?”
The Fallen Star Sect Master’s eyes widened.
The Grand Elder nodded. “Our Nine Stars Falling Array is a Saint-level Array. The only one capable of destroying it with a single snap of the fingers is a Divine-level Array Master.”
The Fallen Star Sect Master took a sharp, cold breath.
‘A Divine-level expert… A figure of legend.’
‘Especially a Divine-level Array Master. Only a handful have ever appeared in the history of the Cangxuan Realm; they’re practically mythical.’
“But… he’s so young!”
The Fallen Star Sect Master asked.
The Grand Elder whispered, “He must be skilled in preserving his appearance. In reality, he’s probably far older than any of us—perhaps even more than ten thousand years old.”
The Fallen Star Sect Master nodded.
According to legend, some Divine-level experts did indeed possess lifespans of ten thousand years and were known as ten-thousand-year-old monsters.
The thought that Su Mo might possess a ten-thousand-year lifespan put the Fallen Star Sect Master’s mind at ease. He cupped his fists toward Su Mo and said, “Elder Su, just now, I was blind and failed to recognize your greatness. I apologize for my baseless suspicions. Please forgive me.”
“It’s nothing.”
Su Mo waved his hand casually.
He was used to being addressed as “Elder,” so he didn’t correct the Fallen Star Sect Master.
This, however, shocked the Fallen Star Sect Master.
‘Su Mo really is an old monster.’
He called him ‘Elder,’ yet Su Mo’s expression remained completely unfazed.
‘Only an expert who has held a high position for ages could act so composed in front of a Semi-Saint like me.’
The Fallen Star Sect Master asked cautiously, “Elder Su, to what do we owe the honor of your venerable presence in Meteor City?”
He dared to offend the King of Reincarnation because the king had only just become a Saint.
But Su Mo was different.
Su Mo was a ten-thousand-year-old monster, a legendary Divine-level expert. The Sect Master truly didn’t dare to offend him.
“I’m looking for an alchemy material.”
Su Mo stated openly.
The Fallen Star Sect Master asked politely, “And what alchemy material might that be, Elder Su?”
“The Enlightenment Stone.”
Su Mo replied.
At these words, the Fallen Star Sect Master was shocked once more.
‘The Enlightenment Stone is a Divine-level material.’
‘Only powerful Divine-level experts would have any use for an Enlightenment Stone.’
This made him even more certain that Su Mo was a Divine-level expert.
Then, the Fallen Star Sect Master’s brow furrowed.
If it were any other material, the Meteor Sect would have been willing to sell the clothes off their backs to present it to Su Mo.
But the Enlightenment Stone was different.
The moment they removed the Enlightenment Stone from the Meteor Dojo, they would be fighting off every major Sacred Land trying to snatch it away. They would be utterly unable to protect it.
The Fallen Star Sect Master thought for a moment before saying, “The Meteor Sect does indeed possess an Enlightenment Stone, but we would have to trouble you, Elder Su, to retrieve it from the Meteor Dojo yourself. Before that, however, there is something I would like to ask for your help with!”
“What is it?”
Su Mo asked.
‘As long as it doesn’t violate my principles or become too much of a hassle, I can agree.’
‘But if it’s too much trouble, forget it.’
‘I don’t want to get dragged into something that will waste a lot of my time.’
The Fallen Star Sect Master gritted his teeth. “I hope that you, Elder Su, will lend us your strength to stand against Yama Hall.”
“Yama Hall?”
Su Mo asked, surprised.
The Fallen Star Sect Master nodded. “You must have heard about the King of Reincarnation pressuring our Meteor Sect, Elder Su. While we might be able to kill the King of Reincarnation, we’re helpless against the Yama Hall that backs him.”
Su Mo glanced at the Fallen Star Sect Master. “Is that all?”
‘A small matter?’
The Fallen Star Sect Master was speechless.
‘Yama Hall is a massive organization that even the Sacred Lands are wary of. They’re an unstoppable force in the Cangxuan Realm.’
‘Yet Su Mo called it a small matter.’
‘He has to be kidding!’
‘What’s more, rumor has it that an incredibly powerful mastermind is pulling the strings of Yama Hall.’
‘Then again, Su Mo did have the right to say such a thing.’
Su Mo said lightly, “Even if you hadn’t asked, I was planning to kill the King of Reincarnation and topple Yama Hall anyway.”
“Elder, do you have a grudge against the King of Reincarnation?”
the Fallen Star Sect Master said.
Su Mo waved his hand. “It’s not much of a grudge, really. Six months ago, I just had a few dozen people take turns slapping him around a bit and destroyed one of his clones. That’s all.”
The Fallen Star Sect Master was left speechless.
‘It would have been one thing if Su Mo had slapped the King of Reincarnation himself, but he even called for backup.’
‘How could the King of Reincarnation possibly let that slide?’
‘But this also meant the King of Reincarnation was now their common enemy.’
“There is one more thing I must ask you, Elder Su.”
Unable to contain his curiosity any longer, the Fallen Star Sect Master finally asked, “Elder Su, are you truly a Divine-level expert?”
“I’m not.”
Su Mo shook his head.
The Fallen Star Sect Master’s brow furrowed instantly.
Su Mo answered honestly, “I’m just a Grand Martial Artist. The reason I came here looking for the Enlightenment Stone is to break through to the Martial Monarch Realm.”
“Huh?”
The Fallen Star Sect Master’s face was a picture of astonishment.
‘A Grand Martial Artist?’
‘Is he for real?’
They had mistaken him for a Divine-level expert, showering him with respect, only to find out he was just a Grand Martial Artist.
How disappointing.
Patriarch Lan, seeing the look on the Fallen Star Sect Master’s face, quickly explained, “Sect Leader, while Elder Su is only in the Grand Martial Artist realm, he possesses the power to slay a Semi-Saint.”
“That’s right! Even Li Yuandao and the Celestial Envy Old Monster, who burned his own lifeblood, died at Young Master Su’s hands. We saw it with our own eyes,” Yu Tie added.
The Fallen Star Sect Master shook his head. “No. We must confirm his strength for ourselves.”
He had only chosen to cooperate with Su Mo because he believed him to be a Divine-level expert.
But now Su Mo was claiming to be a mere Grand Martial Artist.
Therefore, they had to verify Su Mo’s strength personally to determine if he was truly qualified to be their partner.
If he was too weak, there was no point.
Su Mo agreed excitedly. “Sure! I’ve never fought a Semi-Saint before. Why don’t a few of you come at me at once?”
“All at once?”
The Fallen Star Sect Master looked at the Grand Elder and the others.
The Grand Elder and the others nodded.
WHOOSH!
The group formed hand seals in unison, and power began to gather in their palms.
Once they were ready, the Fallen Star Sect Master looked at Su Mo and said, “Please, don’t hold back!”
Su Mo shook his head.
‘If I used my full strength, I’d kill the Fallen Star Sect Master and his men.’
BAM!
Holding back the vast majority of his power, Su Mo raised a hand and pressed it down toward the Fallen Star Sect Master and the others.
The Fallen Star Sect Master said, somewhat angered, “Are you looking down on us? Hmph. Don’t blame us when you’re the one who gets hurt.”
