Chapter 113: Chapter 100: Path to Immortality, Zhang Tiesheng’s Shock

"AAAAAAH—!!!"

Under the shocked, envious, jealous, and hateful gazes of the crowd, Jiang Hao flew under the guidance of the Chaos Sword Embryo. They traveled all the way through the endless ancient Imperial City, heading straight toward the most magnificent Imperial Palace.

The moment he entered the Imperial City, Jiang Hao shuddered.

Boundless and mighty imperial majesty filled the entire Imperial City, evoking a profound sense of awe and reverence. Even though the once-terrifying Imperial Race and the Human Emperor were long gone, the ancient destiny of the nation and the aura of the Imperial Race still shone upon the mortal realm, awe-inspiring to all.

By the time Jiang Hao regained his senses, he had already landed in front of the Imperial Palace.

The towering grand hall soared into the clouds, piercing straight into Yunxiao. Before it lay nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine dragon steps, inspiring deep respect. Jiang Hao had landed directly on the platform between the dragon steps and the grand hall. Looking back at the steps beneath his feet, he felt a tingling sensation run down his spine.

BUZZ!

While Jiang Hao was still in a daze, the Chaos Sword Embryo flew into the grand hall and vanished without a trace.

"The Imperial Palace?" Looking up at the three large, gilded characters on the plaque above him, Jiang Hao felt his breathing quicken.

"Did I really just enter like this?" Gazing at the countless defensive formations enveloping the entire Imperial City, he felt as if he were dreaming.

Who could have imagined that a mere Sword Embryo would bring about such a terrifyingly immense opportunity? This was the Imperial Palace! In the ages past, even among the Royal Descendants, very few would have had the qualifications to step foot here. Any Prince who could walk into this grand hall was undoubtedly a future successor chosen by the Human Emperor—a candidate to become the next Human Emperor.

Just as Jiang Hao was still struggling to process everything, a highly majestic voice suddenly boomed, scaring him so much that the color drained from his face.

"Young man, welcome to the Sword Dynasty."

"A living person?" That was Jiang Hao’s first internal reaction, and it frightened him greatly.

This ancient ruin had existed for countless ages, and all living creatures within it should have gone extinct long ago. Hearing someone suddenly speak would terrify anyone. Not to mention, the moment that voice echoed, Jiang Hao felt an instinctive, overwhelming urge to kneel.

That was imperial majesty!

"The... the Human Emperor?" The moment this suspicion arose in his heart, Jiang Hao was nearly scared to death.

If his guess was correct, had he encountered a living Human Emperor? And an Ancient Emperor who had lived for an unknown number of years, at that.

However, amidst his overwhelming shock, Jiang Hao suddenly froze. What did that voice just say? Welcome to the Sword Dynasty? The Sword Dynasty???

Was that not the name of the Dynasty he currently resided in? Could it be that this ancient Dynasty ruin was also called the Sword Dynasty in the endless ages past?

"Young man, you guessed correctly. I am indeed the last Human Emperor of this Dynasty.

"Although I do not know who founded the Dynasty you are from, it should not be of the same era as mine.

"My Dynasty has already perished."

When speaking of his own Dynasty, a distinct trace of sorrow was mixed into the highly majestic voice. Without giving Jiang Hao a chance to react in horror, the majestic voice continued to echo from within the grand hall.

"Young man, you need not be afraid. I bear no ill intent toward you.

"Though you guessed my identity correctly, you are not entirely right.

"I am indeed the Human Emperor, the Supreme Venerable who once ruled over billions of territories, but I am not a living Human Emperor. I have disappointed you.

"What you are interacting with right now is merely the final wisp of my remnant will left in this world."

RUMBLE!

The moment the other party’s voice faded, Jiang Hao felt as if he had been struck by lightning.

It must be known that up until this moment, he hadn’t spoken a single word out loud; all his words were merely thoughts in his mind. However, the entity inside the grand hall seemed to have seen through everything, knowing his innermost thoughts with absolute clarity. Before this presence, Jiang Hao felt completely transparent, as if he had no secrets to speak of.

"Young man, since you have obtained this opportunity, won’t you enter the hall to see me?

"My legacy was originally meant only for my descendants. Unfortunately, for three million years, I have never been able to wait for that person.

"Now, I have reached the absolute limit of how long I can hold on. Since it has brought you before me, it means you have earned its approval.

"Anyone it favors cannot be too bad.

"Child, enter the hall."

Hearing the voice continuously echoing throughout the Inner Imperial City, Jiang Hao’s breathing grew more rapid than ever before. He knew that the ’it’ the other party mentioned most likely referred to the Sword Embryo.

Suppressing his trembling body, Jiang Hao subconsciously took slow steps toward the Imperial Palace.

Upon stepping into the hall, he was met with the sight of one hundred and eight Heaven-Reaching Pillars and thirty-six Star River Crossbeams, all supporting the entire structure. In the center of the hall stood nine pillars side by side. A lifelike Divine Dragon sculpture coiled around each pillar, its gaze fixed intensely on every figure that entered through the main doors.

The oppressive atmosphere, combined with the Celestial Palace-like layout and architecture, made one afraid to even breathe heavily after stepping inside.

Scanning the palace with a gaze full of shock, Jiang Hao carefully advanced step by step. It wasn’t until he reached the center of the Nine Dragon Pillars that he finally saw an illusory silhouette from behind.

Contrary to Jiang Hao’s imagination, it was not a Supreme Venerable sitting upon the Human Emperor Fruit Position. Instead, it was an ordinary-looking phantom dressed in plain cloth clothes. The cloth-clad figure appeared incredibly old, having returned to a state of absolute simplicity. Yet, just a glimpse of his back seemed to pierce through the eons, making all living beings want to prostrate themselves on the ground.

Hovering beside the phantom was the Chaos Sword Embryo, vibrating frantically. Both gentle and terrifying, it remained quietly on the left side of the phantom.

As if sensing Jiang Hao’s gaze, the cloth-clad figure slowly turned around.
