Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 764 - 734: Total Score Surges (Middle)

At this moment, Lin Xinghai was already speeding toward the next rescue location.

Since Little Fatty had grouped the 20 teams with missions in close proximity into the same batch, they were all very close to one another.

Therefore, it took Lin Xinghai less than 10 seconds to travel to each location. Once he arrived, taking down a Mutated Zombie with his Gauss Rifle was a matter of one or two shots.

In this way, the total time Lin Xinghai spent on each rescue never exceeded 15 seconds.

This meant that Lin Xinghai could rescue four teams in a single minute. At that rate, five minutes was just enough time to rescue all 20 teams.

This was, in essence, his initial projection.

In practice, however, he found it was even easier than he’d projected. Not every team ended up needing his help.

For instance, he had only received rescue requests from 14 teams so far.

Of the remaining six teams, two had yet to encounter any Mutated Zombies. As for the other four, the zombies they ran into weren’t difficult to handle, so they didn’t call for help.

Those four teams not needing a rescue saved Lin Xinghai a full minute alone.

With this extra time, Lin Xinghai obviously didn’t need to be so rushed. In fact, when the situation was right—for instance, when facing First or Second Level Mutated Zombies—he would even opt to forgo Firearms and attack with a melee weapon instead.

The reason for this, of course, was to hone his combat skills and become more quickly accustomed to the power he wielded at the Peak of the Marrow Tempering Realm.

’After all, what could be a better sparring partner than these Mutated Zombies?’

When facing Mutated Zombies, Lin Xinghai could go all out without holding anything back.

Moreover, the time crunch added another layer of pressure, forcing him to kill the Mutated Zombies as quickly as possible. The training effect was, without a doubt, optimal.

SHINK! SHINK! SHINK!

Lin Xinghai swung the Armor-Piercing Gun he had borrowed from Little Fatty, striking out like three bolts of lightning aimed straight for the Giant Arm’s head.

The Giant Arm before him tried desperately to resist, but Lin Xinghai’s Speed was far greater. With a deft turn, the Armor-Piercing Gun’s tip struck upward, punching straight through its lower jaw and into its brain. An instant later, lightning erupted from the weapon, extinguishing the creature’s last spark of life.

Lin Xinghai lowered his weapon and stood, panting slightly. ’Even though I crushed that Second Level Late Stage Giant Arm so easily, I have to admit, the Life Force of these Mutated Zombies is ridiculously tenacious,’ he thought. ’Killing them is fast, but it really takes a toll.’

After killing the Giant Arm, he glanced at the distant team before quickly heading to the next location.

For Lin Xinghai, this kind of fighting was destined to be relentless. According to the plan, each batch of teams accepted their missions at five-minute intervals.

By the time he finished rescuing the first 20 teams, the second batch would be just about to arrive.

According to Little Fatty’s tally, there were even more teams from the school than he had originally expected—136 in total. Ultimately, all the teams would be divided into seven batches arriving one after another.

But Lin Xinghai couldn’t rest even after dealing with the Mutated Zombies for all seven batches. Calculating five minutes per batch, 35 minutes would have passed by the time the seventh batch was done.

By then, the first batch of teams would have nearly completed their missions and would be starting to return for the next cycle.

It was doubtful that even an expert from the Divine Demon Realm could withstand such continuous, high-intensity combat. But Lin Xinghai was different. With his Time Acceleration Ability, his recovery rate was ten times that of a normal person. As long as his stamina held up, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Time passed quickly, and soon, half an hour had gone by.

Meanwhile, the Rock Squad, led by Shi Anzhi, had slaughtered nearly every Abyssal Creature within a two-kilometer radius.

After half an hour of accelerated construction, the outer defensive facilities for the military fortress were finally complete.

With that, the Rock Squad’s mission was successfully concluded. Thanks to the new outer defenses, the combat effectiveness of the troops stationed here would be elevated to a new level. Ordinary Abyssal Creatures would no longer be able to harass them. They could even hold their own against a Third Level Mutated Zombie for a while, meaning they now had the ability to protect themselves.

"Thank you so much for your help," Old Wu said, approaching them with sincere gratitude.

The crisis they had faced was severe. If it had been any other team besides the Rock Squad—even one that could call on that powerful young man for a rescue—they still would have been in a terrible spot. Facing five Third Level Mutated Zombies, even if they’d ultimately managed to use cruise missiles to kill them, he estimated that more than half of his men would have been killed or wounded.

"You’re too kind. We’re all just doing our part for the country. It was our duty," Shi Anzhi replied, in an excellent mood.

’This was, without a doubt, the easiest Third Level Task I’ve ever completed.’

’And I can see this won’t be an isolated incident; it could become the new normal. Now *that’s* something to be happy about.’

After saying their goodbyes, Shi Anzhi led his squad back.

Soon enough, they began to encounter other squads who were also on their way back.

Under the circumstances, it was inevitable that they would talk. And when the topic of the mission came up, the conversation naturally turned to Lin Xinghai and the speed of his rescues.

Everyone was soon shocked to discover that it wasn’t just their own squad that had been rescued quickly—it was every squad.

Even for the squad that had to wait the longest after sending their distress call, Lin Xinghai had still arrived within three minutes.

The difference between that and the ten-minute window he had initially quoted was more than just a little; the level of difficulty involved was on a completely different scale.

"My God! That means the average rescue time is a minute and a half, with the longest wait being three minutes at most. If I’d known help would arrive that fast, I would have taken the hardest mission!" one squad member exclaimed in frustration.

And he wasn’t the only one to voice such a regret; the vast majority of them felt the same way.

After all, during the first mission selection, none of them knew Lin Xinghai very well. Many had been skeptical, so even if they picked a harder mission, they didn’t choose anything *too* far beyond their capabilities. They chose tasks that, if things went south, they could still grit their teeth and push through on their own.

But now that they had compared notes, confirmed Lin Xinghai’s rescue speed, and seen for themselves how cleanly and efficiently he dispatched those Mutated Zombies, their minds began to race with new possibilities.

They were no longer content with missions that were simply within their capabilities.

As the crowd chattered on, Shi Anzhi took it all in. He had a feeling that things were about to change dramatically.
