Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 771 Perception Power Warning (Part 2)
Upon hearing Lin Xinghai’s request, Zuo Wenya didn’t hesitate. He picked up his Communication Device and dialed a number.
"Old Hu, I need a favor from you. It’s very important..." Zuo Wenya quickly explained the situation.
Before long, a middle-aged man in a tutor’s uniform approached rapidly from a distance.
Seeing him, Zuo Wenya waved and whispered to Lin Xinghai, "That’s Hu Haifeng from Capital University. He’s in the Divine Demon Realm Late Stage, and his Superpower is Space Tear."
A clear look of surprise appeared on Lin Xinghai’s face when he heard Zuo Wenya’s introduction.
Zuo Wenya knew exactly what he was thinking and explained, "School rivalries are one thing, but among us tutors, our private relationships are actually pretty good. Besides, beyond being tutors, we’re also soldiers. He’s a Major General, too."
Lin Xinghai nodded in understanding. After all, they all shared a common enemy in the Abyssal Plane. So, no matter how much they competed internally, they would still band together immediately when it was time to face an external threat.
"Old Zuo, what’s going on? You were being so secretive on the Communication Device," Hu Haifeng asked as soon as he arrived.
"I need you to use your Superpower to sense if there’s anything wrong with this space here," Zuo Wenya said, pointing to an empty area in front of them.
Hu Haifeng glanced at Zuo Wenya. Although he still didn’t quite understand what game he was playing, he did as he was asked.
The others then watched as he stretched out a hand, and the entire space in front of them slowly tore open, revealing a dark black spatial rift.
Looking at that dark spatial rift, Lin Xinghai felt his heart pound in his chest. But he couldn’t suppress his curiosity. He wanted to know what was behind these rifts.
So, he extended some of his Perception Power to probe inside.
But when his Perception Power touched the spatial rift, the formless, intangible power was instantly shredded, giving him a splitting headache.
Lin Xinghai was horrified. This was the first time he had ever experienced his Perception Power taking damage.
Fortunately, he had only released a small amount of his Perception Power. Otherwise, that one hit would have been agonizing enough to make him wish he were dead.
At the same time, however, he discovered that while the dark spatial rift seemed capable of devouring anything, it had no effect on his Superpower. His Time Superpower could still easily cover it.
The feeling was profound and mysterious. Lin Xinghai quietly savored it.
Meanwhile, after sensing the area carefully for a moment, Hu Haifeng looked at Zuo Wenya suspiciously. "You didn’t call me over just to mess with me, did you? I don’t feel anything."
"Looks like the level of your Space Tear Superpower isn’t high enough," Zuo Wenya muttered under his breath.
Hu Haifeng almost laughed out of exasperation. "This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone say an ability from the Space Element isn’t high-level enough. Then you tell me, what kind of Superpower *is* high-level?"
Zuo Wenya didn’t answer, instead turning his gaze to Lin Xinghai. "You see the situation. Even a Space Ability can’t detect a problem. Do you have any other ideas?"
Hu Haifeng raised an eyebrow slightly. He hadn’t really noticed Lin Xinghai standing off to the side before. Now that he looked, he cross-referenced the face with the information in his mind and instantly recognized who it was.
’And judging by the conversation between Zuo Wenya and him, it seems Lin Xinghai was the one who discovered this anomaly first,’ he thought. ’Combined with what Zuo Wenya just said... his Superpower’s level is very high?’
He then recalled the formidable combat record Zuo Wenya and Chen Yushi had racked up the previous night, as well as Lin Xinghai’s soaring Points. An incredible thought began to form in his mind.
On the other side, Lin Xinghai thought for a moment before shaking his head. "I don’t have any other ideas. We can only report it to the Military Department and see how they handle it. If they don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do."
Zuo Wenya frowned slightly and sighed. "I suppose that’s our only option. Let’s hope this strange space only has a supporting role, like that green toxic mist."
Of course, that’s what Zuo Wenya said, but in his heart, he didn’t believe it for a second.
If everything Lin Xinghai said was true, and the method used was so advanced that nothing but a Time Superpower could detect it, then it stood to reason that when the enemy finally made their move, it would be absolutely earth-shattering.
Zuo Wenya would report the matter, and then all they could do was wait.
In fact, it wasn’t just Zuo Wenya waiting with Lin Xinghai; even Hu Haifeng, who had just arrived, surprisingly stayed behind.
"Old Hu, you can go do what you need to do. I’ll owe you a small favor for this," Zuo Wenya said irritably, seeing that he wasn’t leaving and assuming he wanted something in return.
"Am I that kind of person? Besides, this isn’t enough to warrant a favor. I’m just curious and want to stay and see what it is that I couldn’t detect," Hu Haifeng said coolly.
After Zuo Wenya submitted his report, the General Staff took the matter very seriously and quickly dispatched a team.
This squad didn’t have any powerful individuals, but the equipment they carried was extremely expensive, especially the various Space Type instruments, which were newly developed.
However, after using all sorts of instruments to investigate the area Lin Xinghai had pointed out, they found that the data showed no abnormalities.
"If there really is a problem here, it’s probably not a spatial one. Otherwise, it’s impossible for this equipment to show no reaction at all," the Squad Leader in charge of the investigation concluded.
In truth, he was only being this polite out of respect for Zuo Wenya and the others. If it had been anyone else, he would have already started cursing them out.
Seeing this, Lin Xinghai could only sigh helplessly. "If that’s the case, then there’s nothing to be done. I’ll just have to be more careful myself."
Honestly, if it had been anyone else, he probably would have had a hard time convincing even one person in the Divine Demon Realm. Reporting such intelligence to the Military Department could even get him accused of filing a false report if nothing was found.
He was only able to make people believe him purely because of his personal reputation and the incredible feats he had demonstrated in the past.
But to Lin Xinghai’s surprise, the Military Department seemed to be paying an extremely high degree of attention to this matter. He finally received word that Admiral Huo Feiteng, who was stationed at the very front line, was actually coming to check it out himself.
"Then let’s wait a bit longer. If it’s not a problem with the nature of the space, then it might be a matter of power level. It’s possible Admiral Huo Feiteng will actually be able to sense something," Zuo Wenya said.
This wasn’t just empty comfort. Huo Feiteng was at the Peak of Divine Demon Realm, and he had reached that level two years ago. By now, he should have nearly completed his Marrow Tempering Realm Cultivation and was likely ready to take the next step at any moment.
If he came, there was a real chance he could see the problem.
「...」
「Ten minutes later.」
When Huo Feiteng arrived, he saw only Zuo Wenya standing there alone.
"Where are the others?" Huo Feiteng asked, confused.
"Just five minutes ago, that strange space expanded rapidly, spreading out for a kilometer. Lin Xinghai and the others have already retreated to another city block," Zuo Wenya said with a grave expression.
