Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Great Detective Xiao Yu

BANG!

A sudden burst of white Light filled the entire office.

BUZZ!

The Four of them—Simon, Xiao Yu, Xie Yanran, and Hong Yuan—all cried out in alarm.

However, upon seeing Feng Yin abruptly slay Ghost, Sharp Blade decisively ended his Chai combat with Felt. He leaped backward and threw an instant-detonation flashbang onto the floor.

Felt naturally wouldn’t fall for this trick. Spotting the telltale sign of Sharp Blade closing his eyes before tossing the flashbang, he immediately retreated and shielded his own eyes.

The only other person unaffected by the flash was Feng Yin. While in Armor mode, his vision possessed special properties that made it immune to intense changes in Light. Even a flashbang couldn’t affect him in the slightest.

Thus, he immediately pulled the Crossbow Arrow from Ghost’s chest, raised his sword, and executed a Stealing Step, instantly intercepting the path between Sharp Blade and Xiao Yu.

Xiao Yu, blinded by the flash, had been panicking at her chaotic vision filled with white spots. However, she vaguely made out a tall, pitch-black figure stepping in front of her, and her heart instantly settled. Though she didn’t know the reason, she was smart enough to faintly realize that even if the Black Armor Swordsman wasn’t here to save her, he was definitely here to kill the Assassin.

Seeing Feng Yin cover the gap so quickly, Sharp Blade abandoned his plan to capitalize on the moment to kill Xiao Yu and fiercely hurled his dagger at Feng Yin.

Feng Yin raised his sword and knocked it away.

In the next instant, Sharp Blade was already sprinting. With a single leap, he vaulted out of the shattered window.

Feng Yin immediately chased him to the window, only to see Sharp Blade throw out a grappling hook, latch onto something, and swing himself into one of the lower floors.

He naturally had no intention of pursuing. Professional killers of this caliber were already formidable, and there was no telling if they had accomplices waiting in ambush. Chasing after him would very likely be a death sentence.

Feng Yin turned around to look. The others were still covering their eyes, trying to adapt to the light. Only Felt was silently watching him. His gaze held a mix of curiosity and scrutiny, and the Swift Sword in his hand seemed restless.

Feng Yin knew it was time for him to leave as well. No, it was time for the Black Armor Swordsman to leave. He took a step back. With his cape billowing, he stepped out into the empty air and plummeted down, his figure vanishing into the night.

Felt let out a long breath and slowly sheathed his sword, his eyes pensive. "Pitch-black Armor, a formidable Heavy Sword, and astonishing strength and Speed..." he thought. "Black Armor Swordsman, who exactly are you, and why did you appear on this island?"

By the time Feng Yin hurried back to Simon’s office, the others’ eyes had already made a full Recovery to normal from the flashbang’s blinding effect.

Simon sat behind his desk with lingering fear, ready to duck under it at a moment’s notice. Felt stood beside him with his hands behind his back, his face perfectly calm as if nothing had happened. Xiao Yu had gotten over her panic and was now pulling on Xie Yanran’s hand, softly asking for details about the Black Armor Swordsman.

"Senior Sister, Senior Sister, hurry up and tell me! What other glorious deeds has the Black Armor Swordsman done?" As she pressed for answers, her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Xie Yanran shook her head helplessly. "This is only my second time seeing him. I’ve only heard rumors about his other deeds, so what else could I possibly tell you?"

"Ah...?" Xiao Yu’s disappointment was palpable. "I wanted to learn more about my savior."

Hong Yuan chuckled and teased her from the side, "Junior Sister, acting like this, if you ever got to meet that expert properly, wouldn’t you pledge your life to him?"

"AHEM..." Xiao Yu coughed lightly. "I couldn’t do that. I care a lot about handsome faces. What if the Black Armor Swordsman takes off his Helmet and looks like a total disaster in person?"

The next moment, she spotted Feng Yin "rushing" into the room and immediately waved at him. "Eldest Junior Brother, come over here quickly! Do you know you just missed a huge show while you were in the restroom?"

Feng Yin "frowned" at Xiao Yu. "Xiao Yu, it’s very chaotic outside. Were you attacked too?"

In truth, on his way back from the restroom, the third Assassin who had caused the explosion and chaos seemed to have vanished as well. If one were to calculate strictly, less than half a minute had actually passed from the moment the assassins launched their strike, to Feng Yin’s appearance, and finally to their failure—resulting in one death and two retreats.

Seeing Feng Yin’s worried expression, Xiao Yu chuckled secretly. "I was indeed targeted, but it was just a false alarm. The invincible Black Armor Swordsman came to save me." As she spoke, her eyes shone brightly, filled with adoration for the man she was describing.

"Invincible?" Feng Yin almost couldn’t maintain his composure. "This girl is seeing the Black Armor Swordsman through incredibly thick rose-tinted glasses," he thought.

He coughed lightly. "Setting aside whether he’s invincible or not, why would the Black Armor Swordsman show up again just to save you?"

Xiao Yu tilted her head in thought, then shook it. "That I don’t know. Maybe he’s taken a fancy to me... Hey! What’s with that look in your eyes?!"

Too lazy to entertain his whimsical Senior Sister, Feng Yin looked at Xie Yanran and Hong Yuan. "Senior Sister, are you two hurt?"

"We’re fine," Xie Yanran shook her head and asked in return, "What about you?"

Feng Yin replied awkwardly, "What could happen to me? I’m just a bit ashamed that I wasn’t here when the enemy attacked."

Xie Yanran patted his shoulder. "It’s actually a good thing you weren’t here. You’ve only been practicing Martial arts for a few days. Even if your physique is very strong, you wouldn’t have been able to react to a dangerous situation like the one just now. You would have been shot to death in an instant."

"That’s right, it’s a good thing you weren’t here," Hong Yuan grimaced beside them, shaking his left arm. "Thankfully, Zero Point’s Explosion-Proof Shield can actually block bullets. It just completely numbed my hand from the impact."

Xie Yanran glanced at Felt. "We aren’t experts with the See Through ability like Mr. Felt here. At the Fierce Level, we are still somewhat powerless against bullets."

Felt returned a polite smile to the group. Feng Yin nodded gently. He was also afraid of guns. That was why, even though he wanted to save them earlier, he had waited until the enemy emptied their bullets before revealing himself.

At this thought, his desire to quickly reach the Instant Level grew even stronger. When would he finally possess that profoundly miraculous See Through and Pre-read ability, which was practically on par with a Superpower? Once he had it, paired with the Heavy Arm Armor of his Armor, his safety would drastically increase. Furthermore, in the game, the Heavy Arm Armor—an Auxiliary Armament—could be transformed into a true shield form through a specific Engraving. When that time came, he would be even more secure...

Just then, Xiao Yu looked at Feng Yin with bright eyes. She patted his shoulder with a strange grin. "Eldest Junior Brother, do you think it’s possible that you’re the Black Armor Swordsman?"

Feng Yin’s heart skipped a beat, but a speechless expression surfaced on his face as he shot her a glance. "Are you having wild fantasies again?"

Xiao Yu giggled mischievously. "Every time the Black Armor Swordsman appears, you’re not around. Don’t you think that’s strange?"

Feng Yin looked at Xiao Yu as if she were a fool. "Right, right. Then where is my Armor? If I don’t have it, are you going to get me a set?"

"HISS—" Xiao Yu froze for a moment. Her small hands began rubbing her chin as she fell into deep thought. "Well, that is..."

Then, her eyes lit up and she raised a finger. "Do you think it’s possible that, just like the protagonists in those special effects shows, you can strike a pose and SWOOSH, suddenly undergo a Transformation?

"Just like in ’Armor Knights’?"

She even seemed ready to demonstrate one of those edgy poses.

Xie Yanran, who was listening in exasperation, cut off Xiao Yu’s nonsense. "Enough, Xiao Yu, your imagination is running too wild."

Beside them, Feng Yin kept a calm expression. However, a faint layer of sweat began to form on his back. "Xiao Yu, this wild nonsense of yours is a little too accurate..." he thought.
