Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Li Xi’s Mind

No one answered, but she didn’t particularly care.

’Although I don’t know why Li Xi got hurt or the extent of her injuries, the fact that she’s developed such hatred for us means she can’t be allowed to stay.’

A few moments later, word that Shi Zhile was looking for a doctor had spread throughout the entire tribe. Finally, a man and a woman stepped out from the crowd.

The man pushed up his glasses, his slightly-too-long hair obscuring much of his eyes. "I’m a surgeon. Treating and suturing wounds is my specialty."

"The fact that you’re looking for a doctor means the person is seriously injured. In exchange, I want fifty bottles of purified water."

Shi Zhile’s top spot on the resource leaderboard made her a target everyone wanted to fleece.

The other person, a young woman, spoke up. "I don’t need fifty bottles of purified water. I just want an axe."

Shi Zhile’s expression was cold. "You can discuss what you need with the injured party later. Since you want resources, go get ready and wait for her at the main gate."

She walked ahead with the two following her. A swarm of over fifty players, eager to watch the drama unfold, trailed behind the three of them.

There were too many people. Shi Zhile decided to call Mo Ze over and have him and his tribesmen keep an eye on the other players.

By the time the crowd arrived, Jiang Jing and the others were just entering the tribe’s main gate, carrying Li Xi.

Li Xi’s legs were wrapped in cloth, which was stained red with blood. Fortunately, the bleeding had stopped.

Perhaps due to excessive blood loss, Li Xi had stopped wailing. She lay there, completely devoid of hope, her pupils dilated as she muttered to herself nonstop.

"It wasn’t supposed to be like this! It wasn’t supposed to be like this!"

The faint smell of blood hung in the air. Shi Zhile walked closer, checking once more to make sure Shi Zhiyi wasn’t hurt.

Shi Zhiyi patted Shi Zhile’s hand, signaling that she was fine.

Seeing everyone crowding around to watch, Wei Zhan’s face hardened as he shouted, "Don’t crowd around! The smell of blood is too strong; it’ll attract wild beasts. Is there a doctor? Help us stop the bleeding first."

The two stepped forward and stood by the raft, but they didn’t make a move. Instead, they stated their demands to Li Xi.

One wanted water, the other an axe.

In a matter of life and death, their first thought wasn’t saving a life, but the payment for saving it. Their approach was cold-blooded, yet in this world, it was remarkably normal.

The Primitive Tribe was indeed rich in resources, but this was still an instance. They would have to leave one day, so resources remained the most precious commodity.

When Li Xi heard there were doctors, a glimmer of light finally appeared in her eyes. She hastily nodded in agreement.

Even so, the two still didn’t check her wounds. "We need to see the supplies first."

Li Xi’s voice was hoarse, a mix of weakness and anger. "I need to be sure you can save me before I give you the supplies. Besides, I can only take three items from my backpack each day."

The man with glasses adjusted them, a cold glint in his eyes. "The daily limit for taking items from the backpack disappears when you enter a new instance. You’re in no position to bargain. Every minute you delay, the smaller the chance of your legs recovering."

To stop the bleeding, her legs had been completely wrapped, so the cloth concealed what the wounds looked like.

Everyone guessed that she had been bitten by a beast in the forest at worst.

The three of them were locked in a silent standoff. Qiao Yiyi was just about to speak when Shi Zhiyi pulled her back.

In the end, Li Xi compromised, but she chose only one of them to treat her.

She took out fifty bottles of purified water. After the man collected them, he began to unwrap the cloth from her legs.

"I need clean gauze, povidone-iodine, a suture needle, and thread."

Li Xi felt a sharp pain from below and glared at the man through gritted teeth. "I already gave you the water. You should provide the medical supplies."

The man immediately stopped. Li Xi clenched her jaw and took out the povidone-iodine and a pack of gauze.

The cloth on her legs was completely removed. A single glance was enough to make everyone present turn pale.

Her legs, bitten by something unknown, were severed at the knees, with only a flap of skin connecting the upper and lower parts.

The moment the cloth came off, blood gushed out.

In her pain, Li Xi began to struggle again, completely tearing the thin layer of skin and flesh.

Staring at the mangled, bloody legs, Shi Zhile’s face went white.

’During the car accident, my legs were also covered in blood just like that.’

Shi Zhiyi immediately noticed something was wrong with her and quickly pulled her out of the crowd, heading toward a cave.

"My back injury is hurting a bit. Lele, come help me treat it first."

Shi Zhile followed her toward the cave. The next second, a sleepy-eyed Jiang Yuxing emerged from the cave, his body perfectly blocking the entrance.

"You look so pale. What happened?"

Shi Zhile retched.

Jiang Yuxing raised an eyebrow, ignoring Shi Zhiyi’s glare, and patted her on the back. "You just had your way with me two days ago. You can’t be pregnant already, can you?"

The nausea vanished, and Shi Zhile punched him on the shoulder.

"Pregnant my ass!"

Jiang Yuxing rubbed his shoulder and took a step back without retorting.

Shi Zhiyi took the opportunity to pull Shi Zhile back into the cave.

Thanks to Jiang Yuxing’s clowning around, the gruesome image in her mind faded.

Inside the cave, Shi Zhiyi crossed her arms. "Fess up. Didn’t you say he wasn’t your boyfriend?"

"Whether he is or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’s useful. What happened with Li Xi? Didn’t you guys go out to sea? Did you run into trouble on the water?"

Shi Zhiyi said, "We ran into a shark."

That morning, Li Xi had shared a raft with Shi Zhiyi and Wen Bai.

But Li Xi was acting particularly strange today. Whenever she had a spare moment, she’d cling to Wen Bai—one minute she was "tripping," the next she was throwing herself into his arms. It was enough to make Shi Zhiyi sick.

While the other two were focused on fishing, for some reason, Li Xi took off her pants, sat on the edge of the raft, and started playing with the water.

It was at that exact moment that a shark lunged up from below and bit her. If she hadn’t struck it with her axe, she would be dead by now.

Connecting yesterday’s events with today’s, Shi Zhile pieced together what Li Xi had been planning.

"Xu Ziqian and Li Xi were a couple, right?"

Shi Zhiyi nodded, a scornful look on her face. "You figured it out, too."

"Anyone who’s survived this long has to be a little cunning. Her petty schemes were beneath my notice."

"She blamed us for Xu Ziqian’s death and thought she could seduce Wen Bai to drive a wedge between us. Who knew her plan would backfire so spectacularly? I guess you could say she brought this on herself."

Shi Zhile asked, "So Wen Bai..."

"Don’t worry. I’ve got it under control."

She and Wen Bai hadn’t known each other for long. They were less like a couple and more like trusted comrades-in-arms.

They had cleared three instances together, building up a rapport, and could truly trust each other with their lives.

But that was all.

The night deepened, and the commotion died down.

There was no point in wasting any more effort on a crippled person with malicious intent.

「The night passed quickly.」 The crow of a rooster from some unknown location echoed across the island.

As the morning sun shone on the island, Mr. Wen woke Shi Zhile up.
