Island Survival: I Build a Moving Castle at Sea
Chapter 199: Trash Mountain
Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Trash Mountain
Jiang Jing’s eyes turned completely red, and black blood trickled from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
"Kill... kill me!"
Her space was unusable. Shi Zhile immediately opened a Teleportation Gate, trying to kick the three of them inside.
The moment their bodies touched the Teleportation Gate, they were flung back out.
Tang Yan completely lost control and lunged at the surrounding players.
"What do we do? Should we kill them?"
Shi Zhile took out a rope. She and Wei Zhan each grabbed an end and quickly tied up Tang Yan.
While Shi Zhiyi and Jiang Jing still had some awareness left, the others followed suit and tied them up with ropes as well.
Shi Zhile tried again to pull them into her space, and failed again. She then opened a Teleportation Gate and tried to bring the three of them in with her. In the next instant, she passed through, but Shi Zhiyi and the other two were once again thrown back.
"They can’t enter instances. The only option is to keep them tied up and find a place to lock them away. Uncle Wei, tell the base leader to transfer all players off Stone Island. No one is to go near it."
While Wei Zhan was contacting the base leader, Shi Zhile fed the three of them some Healing Spring Water.
To be safe, she added another set of ropes to them.
A light drizzle began to fall from the gloomy sky. In the -70 degree weather, the rain turned into ice pellets before it even hit the ground.
Braving the icy rain, the group arrived at Stone Island and locked the three of them in the Stone Castle’s basement.
Afterward, Shi Zhile started a video call with the base leader.
"Base Leader, Stone Island needs to be guarded. My sister, Jiang Jing, and the others have lost control and need to be monitored. I’m leaving Stone Island to you. I’m going back to the secret base, and after that, I have to go somewhere else. I don’t know when I’ll be back."
Wei Zhan sent the videos of Shi Zhiyi and the other two losing control to both base leaders respectively.
The base leader was at Huaxia Base and was currently rushing to Stone Island.
Wen Changming, who was at the secret base, hadn’t replied yet. She needed to go to the secret base, first to discuss the trio’s situation with the seniors, and second to prepare for her trip to the interstellar teleport point.
The base leader exhaled a puff of white mist. "Go on, don’t worry. I’m bringing people to Stone Island right away."
Shi Zhile had granted the base leader access permissions for Stone Island long ago, so he could enter and exit freely without being blocked by the shelter’s gate.
Wei Zhan and the ten others stood guard inside the shelter for the time being while Shi Zhile opened a Teleportation Gate and entered the secret base.
She showed the seniors the video of Shi Zhiyi losing control. Combining this with the information about the Energy Balls they had received, they ultimately concluded that the energy from the balls issued by the System was Corpse Qi.
The System awoke, and after running a scan, it gave the same answer.
Night fell. The sea turned black, and a dark fog shrouded its surface.
Shi Zhile lay on a deck chair, enjoying the sea breeze.
"System, one of the rewards for the highest point ranking is an interstellar teleport point. Do you know what it is?"
[It’s likely a coordinate-based teleport point. The general destination is interstellar.]
"Are the main bodies of you captured Advanced Systems located in interstellar space?"
[Correct. In reality, all systems are just strings of virtual code. Due to differences in Level and energy, some systems choose to redeem skins, but the skin isn’t the main body. If you want to destroy a system, you have to find a way to destroy the code.]
[If they want the systems’ energy, they will definitely place all the systems on a single device. Destroy that, and the game can end.]
Shi Zhile sighed and closed her eyes.
In the darkness, the corners of her mouth lifted into a slight smile, only to fall again an instant later.
The next morning, Shi Zhile released half of the domesticated livestock from her Breeding Space and entrusted them to Mr. Guo for feeding.
She also took out all the ripe fruits and vegetables from her Planting Space. She even dug up a piece of the black soil and gave it to the research lab.
After a joint discussion, the three base leaders unanimously decided to use the newly acquired Advanced Teleportation Gate for Jiuzhou Base.
For safety, the Primitive Forest was still designated as the destination point.
Just as with Huaxia Base, the players of Jiuzhou Base were split in two: researchers and technicians all entered the secret base, while the other players remained to guard the game base.
With all preparations complete, Shi Zhile said her goodbyes to the three base leaders and opened her panel’s inventory.
[Player "Contentment Brings Happiness," are you sure you want to use the interstellar teleport point? This teleport point is a one-time use consumable. After use, you will be teleported to a designated location outside the game.]
"Yes!"
[Activation successful! Have a pleasant journey!]
A wave of dizziness washed over her as points of light flashed rapidly before her eyes. A cold voice pulsed in her mind.
The last few words tumbled around in her mind, sounding more and more familiar the more she heard them.
She felt like she had heard them somewhere before but couldn’t recall where for the moment.
A moment later, the dizziness vanished. Her nostrils filled with a sour, rancid smell—an odor both strange and familiar. It was the stench of various types of garbage piled together and left to ferment.
Having grown accustomed to the smell of blood, this sour stench wasn’t enough to make her nauseous.
The shadows before her eyes faded, and Shi Zhile could finally see the scene clearly.
Before her were rolling mountains of trash, one after another. Piles of discarded glass bottles and machine fragments were heaped together.
In the distance, figures were disembarking from a large ship, dumping out trash.
Shi Zhile called out to the System twice. Hearing no response, she immediately hid behind the side of a trash mountain.
As the figures approached in pairs, Shi Zhile realized they weren’t human at all, but cold, unfeeling robots dressed in human clothes.
They dumped the trash at the base of the mountain and quickly returned to the ship. After a few trips back and forth, they steered the ship away.
Only after confirming that all the robots had left did Shi Zhile emerge from her hiding spot.
She took a pair of gloves from her inventory and picked up a glass bottle from the trash heap.
A note was suspended inside the bottle, and its mouth was sealed with a cork. Without hesitation, Shi Zhile smashed the bottle and took out the note.
It was a yellowed piece of paper that looked ancient. The writing on it was crooked and looked remarkably familiar.
[Mommy says Urth has fre(crossed out)sh veggtables, and yummy meats. Our Comman(crossed out)der is super smart, he can get Urth without a single soldier. But Daddy says the Commander is a koward, he doesn’t dare to fight...]
The note ended there. It reminded Shi Zhile of the message in a bottle she had found on the sailboat.
There was a note inside that one too. Shi Zhile compared the handwriting of the two notes and found they were identical.
’The note from inside the game is identical to the note from this interstellar garbage heap. What does that mean?’
’The girl who wrote this can access the game, or rather, she can access the System.’
She placed both notes in a single bottle, stored it in her inventory, and went back to digging through the trash.
A broken robot arm—took it!
An unopened vial of green solution—took it!
A battered black box—took it!
Just as she was getting into the rhythm of her scavenging, a faint vibration came from above.
She looked up to see a massive flying saucer hovering overhead. A hatch on its underside opened, and a huge pile of trash came tumbling down.
In the blink of an eye, the mountain of trash grew another layer taller.
