When Gu Yunxi looked up and saw Su Huanli’s condition, he was dumbfounded.

Even though he was a life-style player, his reflexes were still sharp.

By the time Su Huanli reached him, he could already feel the ferocious aura chasing her.

"Running, were you? And to an acquaintance, it seems."

The chilling, shrill voice was unsettling, reminiscent of a palace eunuch.

A massive palm blotted out the sky, bringing with it an immense, oppressive pressure.

Gu Yunxi wanted to resist, but the oppressive aura radiating from his opponent made his heart pound with terror.

His legs grew weak and useless, pinned in place by an overwhelming power.

"Golden Core Stage!"

Gu Yunxi’s heart hammered in his chest. That was definitely not the pressure of the Foundation Establishment Stage.

No wonder Su Huanli had been chased into such a sorry state.

Pfft.

Su Huanli collapsed, coughing up blood.

Obviously, she had exhausted her Spiritual Energy by the time she was chased here.

She was even out of Elixir Pills.

She no longer had the strength to run.

Gu Yunxi knew this was bad. His first instinct was to call on his system and flee, but he realized that if he ran, Su Huanli would almost certainly die.

Besides, Su Huanli was a disciple with deep ties to the Longevity Sect. For a moment, Gu Yunxi’s mind raced.

Just as the massive palm was about to descend, Gu Yunxi made a split-second decision and dropped to his knees. "Senior, spare me!"

’In the game, no one has any shame.’

’Save my own damn skin first! That’s all that matters!’

His cry came just in time.

The massive palm halted just above Gu Yunxi’s head. A fraction of a second later, and it would have pulverized him.

The close call instantly drenched Gu Yunxi in a cold sweat.

The Golden Core cultivator, seeing that Gu Yunxi knew his place, gave a sinister laugh. "You’re a clever one. Do you know this female cultivator?"

Gu Yunxi’s eyes darted around. Head bowed, he didn’t dare to look up. "Yes, this junior and she are from the same place."

Gu Yunxi wasn’t idle while he spoke.

He was sending messages on the Sect channel.

[Gu Yunxi: Help! Can anyone come save me and Su Huanli? We’re on First Mountain and ran into a Golden Core cultivator. He’s trying to kill her!]

[Gu Yunxi: We’re screwed! What do we do now!!]

[Zhou Nvzi: Damn, a Golden Core cultivator?]

[Fan Guzhou: Didn’t Su Huanli get the message and start heading back? How’d she run into a Golden Core cultivator on the way?]

[Jiang Tianya: Where would a Golden Core cultivator come from around here? The only Golden Core cultivators are the Sect Masters of Liuyun Sect, Taohua Sect, and a few others.]

But they’re Sect Masters, and they all know each other.

Why would any of them attack Su Huanli?

While rapidly sending his coordinates and updates, Gu Yunxi also warned the other new players not to come any closer.

’He knew he probably couldn’t count on the other players.’

’Trying to save her could cost them their own lives. Even though Su Huanli is from the same Sect, you only get one account.’

’None of them were strong enough to take on a Golden Core cultivator right now.’

But that didn’t mean they shouldn’t try.

The players had to find a way.

Gu Yunxi kept his head down. From the corner of his eye, he saw someone land.

A sinister presence drew near, its powerful pressure making it hard for him to breathe.

’So this is the Golden Core Stage,’ he thought.

’You can’t even see them, but their aura alone can crush any will to resist.’

All Gu Yunxi could think about was saving his own skin, not about finding a chance to fight back.

The difference in ranks during Cultivation was therefore even more rigid than any mortal class system.

The Golden Core cultivator slowly walked over to the blood-spattered Su Huanli.

She was clearly breathing her last. Her blood-smeared eyes found Gu Yunxi, filled with a resigned sigh and a hint of despair.

The moment she saw Gu Yunxi, she knew it was a disaster.

She had been grievously injured by the Golden Core cultivator in just a few blows. She’d only provoked and lured him away to save Shui Ping’s life.

Her Spiritual Energy depleted, she had run here with all her might, only to discover Gu Yunxi was here when she arrived.

If she’d had any strength left and had noticed the Longevity Sect disciple here, she never would have led the Golden Core cultivator in this direction.

If their foe forced Gu Yunxi to lead the way... she couldn’t imagine how Feique Sect and Longevity Sect might get dragged into this today.

"This female cultivator doesn’t know how to appreciate a favor." The man’s voice was a sinister, grating quack that gave Gu Yunxi goosebumps; it felt as suffocating as a hand closing around his throat.

"Senior, we juniors are disciples of the Feique Sect from Wang’an County."

Gu Yunxi declared their affiliation. After all, the Feique Sect had a Golden Core Sect Master.

Most people would at least consider a disciple’s background before killing them.

"Feique Sect?" The male Golden Core cultivator’s lips curled into a smirk. Gu Yunxi didn’t dare raise his head, so he couldn’t get a clear look at the man’s face.

His system, however, saw everything perfectly.

It told Gu Yunxi, "This person doesn’t look like a local."

"He gives off such a sinister yin energy."

The next second, the man spoke. "Feique Sect... Perhaps there won’t be a Feique Sect for much longer."

The words struck Gu Yunxi’s heart like a heavy blow.

’What does that mean?’

Gu Yunxi’s mind raced with possibilities.

Beside him, Su Huanli let out a pained, muffled groan.

Gu Yunxi couldn’t stop himself from looking over at her, desperate to give her an Elixir Pill.

But with the cultivator watching, he didn’t dare.

The male cultivator walked up to Su Huanli. With a lift of his hand, her upper body was forced backward, an invisible force choking her neck and intensifying her agony.

Gu Yunxi’s eyelid twitched as he watched.

"You ungrateful whelp! I merely asked the two of you to serve as my Furnaces, and you dared to refuse me!"

His voice was so vicious that Gu Yunxi felt the urge to curse him out loud.

’Su Huanli is a disciple of the Feique Sect, for crying out loud! She has a whole Sect backing her. How could a Sect Disciple just be kidnapped to become a Furnace?’

’Besides, the fate of a Furnace is far worse than that of an ordinary concubine. No one in their right mind would ever agree to it.’

’This cultivator is definitely not from around here.’

Su Huanli could no longer speak, suffocating under the grip of the invisible force.

Her Spiritual Energy was gone, leaving her body fragile and weak.

She was only at the Foundation Establishment Stage; with one vicious twist from this cultivator, her neck would snap, and she would die.

Su Huanli was only sixteen. Her short life began to flash before her eyes.

As her breathing grew fainter, Su Huanli’s only thought was, ’I hope Shui Ping is still alive.’

The cultivator before her had a face that looked as if it had been eaten away by fire, giving him a grotesque appearance.

Paired with his current savage expression, he looked even more terrifying.

His eyes held contempt for Su Huanli, along with a barely perceptible trace of rage. "A lowly disciple at the Foundation Establishment Stage like you dares to refuse me!"

Gu Yunxi could only watch helplessly as Su Huanli’s face turned from red to a deep purple.

Forget about saving her; if he made a move, he would be killed instantly. Gu Yunxi’s lips trembled. For the first time, this grown man felt the urge to cry while playing a game.

Who could bear to watch a young girl in the prime of her youth be strangled to death right before their eyes?

He despaired. "System, what do I do?"

System: "..."

The next moment, the man’s brow suddenly furrowed.

He spun around and snapped at the empty air, "What skulking rat dares to show itself?"

The answer came in the form of a pavilion that materialized from thin air.

It hung in the sky, poised to drop down upon the man.

And with it came the voice of a female cultivator.

"A scumbag like you isn’t worthy of knowing!"
