I've Divorced Your Sister, Why Are You Still Here?
Chapter 49 - 48: Let’s Move Together
Chapter 49: Chapter 48: Let’s Move Together
Hearing Si Yingying call out to him, Xiao Ran walked over nonchalantly. "What a coincidence. You guys are getting malatang too?"
"Yeah, but I actually have something to do this afternoon, so I’ll get going. You two enjoy your meal." After speaking, Si Yingying picked up her milk tea, stood up with an apologetic smile, gave the still-nervous girl a meaningful look, and then left her seat.
’I hope they can make it work someday. After all, matters of the heart are a magical thing.’
’Anyway, she didn’t think falling for her former brother-in-law was anything to be ashamed of. On the contrary, it probably required even more courage.’
’Then again, Teacher Xiao is so handsome!’
...
Meanwhile, the girl sitting in the booth was incredibly nervous. After all, she had just lied to her brother-in-law, telling him she had class this afternoon, only to run into him while getting malatang. The more she thought about it, the guiltier she felt.
She didn’t even dare to lift her head.
Xiao Ran sat down, looking at her with concern. "Um, is something wrong today?"
’To be honest, he hadn’t expected to run into Yan Xici here either.’
’But since they had, he definitely had to ask what was going on.’
The girl kept her head down, her moist eyes blinking. She looked utterly pitiful.
The thought of having lied to him made her feel deeply guilty.
An inexplicable sense of guilt washed over her.
"I’m sorry..." the girl mumbled, her voice soft.
Xiao Ran looked at her, baffled. "What is it?"
"My mom... she told me to convince you to get back together with my sister, but I didn’t know how to persuade you or what to say, so I just..."
’She swore to the heavens that she had confessed everything—everything except the part about liking him.’
Hearing this was the reason, Xiao Ran instantly broke into a smile. "In that case, not only have you done nothing to apologize for, but I should actually be thanking you."
’He had absolutely no desire to get back together with his ex-wife. In fact, as time passed, he didn’t feel any sense of loss; instead, he was secretly glad he was divorced.’
"Huh?" The girl was taken aback by his words.
’What kind of logic was that?’
"Look, I’m really not getting back together with your sister. If you were to pester me about it every day, there’d probably be only one outcome: I’d kick you out!" He was bluffing a little, but he couldn’t think of any other way to completely crush the idea of her trying to persuade him.
Hearing Xiao Ran say this, the girl suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. In that moment, she finally understood his true feelings on the matter.
To be honest, she had always thought there was a good chance Xiao Ran would want to get back together with her sister, which is why she had been so conflicted.
Still uncertain, the girl asked again, "So that means... you really don’t want to get back together with my sister?"
Xiao Ran’s expression was firm. "I don’t!"
’Getting back together was absolutely impossible.’
After speaking, he thought for a moment more. "Let’s move this afternoon. After we’re done, I’ll find some time to call your mom and tell her about this. I’ll let her know that I’m definitely not getting back together with her, and that way, you can relax too."
"Once we’ve moved, your sister won’t be able to come looking for us anymore. If you want, you can keep living with me. If you don’t..."
Xiao Ran trailed off, not finishing the sentence.
’He mainly realized that when the topic of her leaving came up, he actually felt a little reluctant to let her go.’
Having received a definitive answer, the tension in the girl’s heart completely dissolved.
Although she liked him, the girl had no intention of confessing her feelings. Just as Si Yingying had said, maybe it was just a crush that would disappear in a couple of days.
’He doesn’t know anyway, so I’ll just stay by his side as a little sister!’
"Okay! Then let’s go back and move after we finish our malatang!" The girl’s face, now bright and clear, once again broke into an innocent and carefree smile.
After eating, the two of them rode the electric scooter back home.
In reality, moving was an incredibly simple affair for them. All they had to do was pack up their daily necessities and leave.
After all, Xiao Ran didn’t plan on keeping anything from this place.
The two of them went to their respective rooms and started packing. Xiao Ran didn’t have much stuff; his clothes, pants, and daily items all fit into a single box.
Yan Xici, being a girl, naturally had more things. She had two boxes in total, plus a large Hello Kitty plush.
They didn’t even need to call a moving company; they just left, pulling their suitcases behind them.
The midday sun was a bit glaring. Watching Xiao Ran walk with such focus, Yan Xici couldn’t help but ask curiously, "You really don’t feel any attachment at all?"
’She, on the other hand, had no attachments. As long as she was with him, anywhere felt like home!’
Xiao Ran shook his head. "Of course not."
’The only thing about the marriage he felt was worth lingering on was perhaps his lost youth. But thankfully, he was only twenty-four now, which was still young.’
’Right now, all he wanted was to focus on making money!’
Hearing this, the girl’s heart quietly settled. She even felt a little thrill of secret delight. This time, their home would truly be just the two of them!
’She felt inexplicably happy just thinking about it!’
Looking at Yan Xici walking with her head down, clutching the Hello Kitty plush to her chest, Xiao Ran couldn’t help but ask, "Why aren’t you using an umbrella?"
’For girls, sun umbrellas, sunscreen, and the like were standard procedure. Every day at noon when work let out, he would always see hordes of girls walking toward the cafeteria under their parasols.’
The girl shrugged. "Don’t have one~"
’She rarely used a parasol. It wasn’t that she couldn’t afford one; she just felt she wouldn’t use it even if she bought it. After all, they were just so easy to lose.’
’Si Yingying was always buying new umbrellas.’
’It’s really easy to just forget about things you’re carrying in your hand.’
’Besides, I don’t really tan anyway. It’s just a little uncomfortable, so whatever!’
The girl had just finished speaking when she turned and saw a taxi coming down the street. She quickly dropped her suitcase, waved her hands, and exclaimed excitedly, "A cab’s here, a cab’s here!"
The driver saw the two of them with their luggage from a distance, so after stopping, he proactively got out to help them load it into the trunk. Even though there were three suitcases, the trunk was luckily big enough that they all fit with a bit of a squeeze.
Once the luggage was loaded, Xiao Ran hurried to the car door, opened it, and waited for the girl to get in before getting in himself.
’He was actually a very well-mannered person. Ever since he was little, his mom had taught him to be considerate and take care of girls.’
’After all, girls were really fragile.’
The girl quickly slipped inside and then immediately scooted over, making room for Xiao Ran. Only then did she smile, nod at him, and say, "Thanks!"
