Journey to Become the Zenith
Chapter 451: The Six Types of Heroes [Part 2]
The Six Types of Heroes [Part 2]
"I won’t explain in full detail, just a general outlook"
Niklaus leaned back slightly in his seat, allowing the silence to settle between them before continuing.
The room had grown strangely quiet.
The faint crackle of the fire was the only sound that disturbed the stillness. Golden light from the lamps rested across the ancient artifacts lining the walls, while shadows stretched lazily across the floor. Outside, the afternoon wind moved through the trees, brushing against the cave entrance with a soft, almost whispering sound.
Videl remained seated across from Niklaus.
She hadn’t moved much since their conversation began.
But the longer Niklaus spoke, the more difficult it became for her to maintain the calm expression she had entered the cave with.
She had come seeking an answer.
She hadn’t expected the answer to shake the very foundation of who she believed herself to be.
Niklaus folded his arms.
"The most common Hero that you hear in fairytales, are the Transmigrator Heroes."
Videl listened carefully.
"These types of heroes could be beings of another world, from a different timeline, from a different reality, from any place that has a mortal soul."
His crimson-golden eyes remained fixed on her.
"So basically, these Heroes are wandering souls that died in their original places, and then inhabited the body of a recently deceased person."
Videl’s brows tightened.
A wandering soul.
A dead person.
A body that had already belonged to someone else.
The concept was disturbing enough that she instinctively shifted in her seat.
Niklaus continued without interruption.
"After incorporating their knowledge into this world, these people become powerful individuals that will become heroes that are praised throughout the ages."
Videl lowered her gaze for a moment.
She had heard countless stories about heroes descending from distant worlds. In taverns, temples, old books, children’s tales—there were always legends about extraordinary people appearing from nowhere and changing the course of history.
She had always assumed those stories were exaggerated.
Now she wasn’t so certain.
"So that’s where many of those legends come from..." she murmured.
Niklaus gave a small nod.
"Some of them, yes."
He didn’t elaborate.
Instead, he continued.
"The second most common type of hero is the Reincarnated Heroes."
Videl’s attention immediately returned to him.
"Now, these heroes are a bit similar to the Transmigrators as they also came from varying places. The difference between them and the Transmigrators is that Reincarnated people are born into this world."
Niklaus lifted one finger.
"Unlike the Transmigrators who have their souls transferred in another person’s body, the Reincarnated heroes were born into this world naturally, but with memories of their previous life."
Videl slowly nodded.
That distinction made sense.
One soul entered an existing body.
The other was born again.
Yet both carried something from a life that had already ended.
"So they grow up believing this world is their home..." Videl said quietly.
"Exactly."
Niklaus’s expression remained composed.
"Some remember their previous lives from childhood. Others regain those memories later. Some remember everything, while others only retain fragments."
He paused.
"But regardless of the circumstances, their previous existence influences the person they become."
Videl’s fingers slowly curled against her knees.
She was beginning to understand why Niklaus had called these different kinds of heroes.
They weren’t simply different titles.
They were different origins.
Different paths.
Different reasons for becoming extraordinary.
Niklaus raised another finger.
"Now next are the Summoned Heroes."
The atmosphere seemed to grow heavier.
"Sometimes a country or a person in times of chaos, figure out how to summon beings from different dimensions or worlds."
Niklaus’s voice became slightly more serious.
"Using this knowledge they summon individuals with powerful abilities."
He leaned forward a little.
"Sometimes these people were already powerful in their homeworld, but other times they only became powerful because they were summoned."
Videl stared at him.
"Then their strength isn’t necessarily something they possessed before coming here?"
"Correct."
Niklaus nodded.
"A summoning ritual can alter circumstances. It can grant power, weapons, blessings, knowledge, or even abilities that the summoned individual never possessed before."
Videl’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Then the people performing the summoning could essentially create their own hero."
Niklaus smiled faintly.
"Now you’re thinking."
Videl didn’t return the smile.
That possibility bothered her.
A hero created because someone needed one.
A hero summoned because the world demanded one.
The distinction between choice and necessity suddenly felt far less clear.
Niklaus raised another finger.
"Now onto the next type of hero, the Chosen Hero."
His tone became slightly lighter.
"These heroes are people chosen by divine beings, they are warriors granted incredible power by a specific God or Goddess."
Niklaus shrugged.
"In my point of view, they are more like representatives to the Gods than heroes, but to be fair they do some heroic things every now and then, so calling them heroes is right as well."
Videl almost smiled.
Almost.
There was something strangely casual about the way Niklaus dismissed something that sounded incredibly important.
"You’re surprisingly blunt about the Gods," she said.
Niklaus gave her a sideways glance.
"After living long enough, reverence and fear stop being as useful as people think."
Videl studied him for a moment.
There was history behind those words.
History he wasn’t sharing.
She decided not to press.
Niklaus continued.
"Second to the last are the prophesized heroes."
His expression changed.
The faint amusement disappeared.
"Now, these heroes are a topic of controversy, others don’t even consider them heroes."
