Chapter 170: The Insanely Arrogant Zhu Pingyong
Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Insanely Arrogant Zhu Pingyong
At the call of the Second Elder from the Celestial Sect, many people rushed onto the arena stage.
Among them were quite a few of Chu Fan’s acquaintances, such as the Lingyun Sect’s New Saint Heir, Ji Ling; the Celestial Derivation Sect’s Saint Heir, Shui Yuntian; and Chen Qi’an of the Zi Wu Gate...
Chu Fan knew almost all the disciples from the Six Sects and Eight Gates who were ranked in the top fifty.
He had even fought a few of them at the last Tengxing Grand Assembly. Of course, none of them had been his match. Thanks to the Spiritual Qi Revival of Heaven and Earth, some of them had even broken through to the Nascent Soul Realm.
There were also many from minor sects whom Chu Fan did not recognize.
But none of that mattered. In Chu Fan’s eyes, all forty-eight people before him would be kicked off the stage.
"The fact that you defeated Master Ni does give you some capital for your pride, but that’s no reason to be so arrogant as to challenge more than forty of us at once. You will pay the price for your actions."
The one who spoke was a chosen prodigy from the Chenqing Sect, with a cultivation at Nascent Soul Realm Tier Five. At the last Tengxing Grand Assembly, he had been at Golden Core Realm Tier Two and had only lost to Chu Fan because his Sword Dao was inferior. To reach Nascent Soul Realm Tier Five in just six short years was indeed an impressive feat.
Among all the acquaintances present, the one whose cultivation impressed Chu Fan the most was actually Ji Ling of the Lingyun Sect. Though the man was spineless, Chu Fan was intimately familiar with his talent. After all, they had practically grown up together, even if their relationship wasn’t good.
’To think he’s also reached the Nascent Soul Realm.’
Shui Yuntian, standing beside the Chenqing Sect prodigy, said, "Senior Brother Wang, there’s no need to waste any more words on him. Let’s join forces and send this arrogant fool on his way!"
"Right! We’ve already signed the life-and-death waiver. Kill him!" many people shouted.
Chu Fan shook his head and let out a cold laugh. He brought his hands forward, one high and one low, one in front and one behind, assuming a ready stance.
The meaning was clear: he was waiting for them to make a move.
Seeing his continued arrogance, the dozen or so people standing at the very front attacked in unison.
In that instant, more than ten Golden Core Realm and Nascent Soul Realm cultivators struck, and a fierce, biting gale of Gang Qi ravaged the entire stage.
In truth, with Chu Fan’s current Cultivation Realm, he could have just stood still, and these gales of Gang Qi wouldn’t have been able to harm him in the slightest.
However, to bait a certain fish, he only revealed the Combat Power of a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator. He weaved and dodged between the gales of Gang Qi, even intentionally letting a few of them tear several gashes in his clothes.
But his results were already glorious. The Heaven-Reaching Palm was a Divine Level Martial Technique, after all. Even though he only used the Combat Power of a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, he still managed to blast the first five people off the stage with just two palm strikes.
These five people included Shui Yuntian and Ji Ling.
With five fewer people on the stage, the Gang Qi winds Chu Fan faced didn’t weaken; instead, they grew even more tyrannical and fierce.
Forty-three people remained. Every one of them had drawn their weapon, and none of them were holding back anymore.
At this moment, the people in the audience watching the battle saw that Chu Fan appeared to be in a sorry state.
As the saying goes, two fists are no match for four hands. Most of them felt that this Zhu Pingyong would ultimately pay the price for his arrogance—a price that would likely be his own life.
As another three people were knocked off the stage by Chu Fan’s Palm Force, a bloody gash was cut across Chu Fan’s arm.
Those remaining on the stage were all incredibly excited.
’We can hurt him!’
Almost all of them thought so.
As time went on, the wounds on Chu Fan’s body seemed to multiply, his breathing grew more ragged, and his Combat Power appeared to be stretched thin.
"Everyone, stop holding back! Use your strongest techniques! Strike him while he’s down and finish him off!" someone shouted.
At that moment, Chen Qi’an spoke to Chu Fan, "It’s gotten to this point, and you’re still not using a weapon?"
Chu Fan gave Chen Qi’an a slightly surprised look. He committed those words to memory, but what he said aloud was, "None of you are worthy of making me draw my weapon."
The moment the words left his mouth, he struck first, blasting Chen Qi’an directly off the stage with a single palm.
It was also because these people were so desperate to defeat Chu Fan that they didn’t stop to think why he, in such a battered state, was still able to blast an opponent off the stage with one palm strike.
After nearly half an hour, using the first four stances of the Heaven-Reaching Palm over and over again, Chu Fan had blasted all forty-eight people off the stage.
In the middle of it all, quite a few people who had been knocked off even tried to fish in troubled waters by running back up.
Chu Fan was aware of it all but didn’t let it show. Although he appeared to be covered in blood, he hadn’t seriously injured a single person.
After he blasted the last person off the stage, he remained standing, but just barely. He rested his palms on his knees, bent over, and gasped for air, looking like a spent force.
Chu Fan looked towards the Elders closest to the stage. His voice lacking strength, he said, "Shouldn’t you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, several streams of Sword Qi shot towards him from three different directions.
"Surrender your life!"
The voice was unmistakably Shui Yuntian’s.
With his head lowered, from an angle no one else could see, a cunning glint flashed in Chu Fan’s eyes for a fleeting moment.
And in that moment, the scene became exceptionally quiet. Almost everyone held their breath, watching.
Three people, swords in hand, brandished their Sword Techniques and charged at Chu Fan once more.
"Stop!" Liu Huaguang leaped into the air with a deafening roar, but he was ultimately a little too late.
The three streams of Sword Qi slammed into Chu Fan.
But Chu Fan was completely unharmed. His bent body suddenly straightened, and his Protective Gang Qi directly deflected the three streams of Sword Qi that had struck him.
The three attackers suffered damage proportional to the True Qi and Combat Power they had just used.
The three had charged in with great momentum, but in the blink of an eye, they were all sent flying backward, severely injured and vomiting blood.
"Wicked spawn!" Seeing Shui Yuntian gravely injured, the Elder from the Celestial Derivation Sect who had been acting as a referee immediately leaped up. Sword still in its sheath, he charged at Chu Fan.
"Stop!" Liu Huaguang shouted again, turning to block the Elder.
"He injured my Sect’s Saint Heir! Elder Liu, are you taking his side?"
"HAHAHAHA!" Before Liu Huaguang could speak, Chu Fan suddenly burst into loud laughter.
The laughter was earth-shattering.
"Elder Liu, let him come!" Chu Fan said coldly after his laughter subsided.
"Both of you, stand down!" Liu Huaguang shot a glance at Chu Fan before bellowing angrily at the Celestial Derivation Sect Elder.
"Liu Huaguang, what is the meaning of this?"
"What is the meaning of this? You ask me what the meaning is? It was stated beforehand that anyone knocked off the stage by Zhu Pingyong is considered defeated. What did those three just do?" Liu Huaguang retorted.
"But he injured our Saint Heir!"
"Injured your Saint Heir? Did he even make a move? That was merely the backlash from his Protective Gang Qi. If those three hadn’t been trying to take advantage of the situation, even trying to take his life, would things have come to this?" Liu Huaguang’s voice grew louder.
This speech was clearly not just for the Celestial Derivation Sect Elder, but also for anyone else preparing to protect their own.
Unexpectedly, Chu Fan spoke up, "Elder Liu, please step back. Since they refuse to accept the outcome, leave this matter for me to handle."
Liu Huaguang said angrily, "And how will you handle it?"
"He refuses to accept it, right? Then let him make a move himself. If he can defeat me, I still don’t need this first-place title. No—everyone here, including the Elders from every sect, you can all come at me one by one. If any single one of you can force me to move even half a step off this stage, I will be at your mercy!"
As he spoke, Chu Fan took out the Juntian Sword and held it in his hand.
And his decisive, iron-clad words were like a basin of water poured into a pot of hot oil. The scene instantly erupted into chaos...
