Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Two Sword Strikes to Frighten Away the Scoundrels
Hearing the voice, Chu Fan knew the Heir of Liao had arrived with men to seek revenge.
Chu Fan had been jolted out of his epiphany, and his rage was palpable. ’If they hadn’t disturbed me, I might have comprehended the Supreme Dao!’
Furthermore, the Heir of Liao hadn’t brought his men here just for revenge. He had been overcome with lust and wanted to take Yun Xi for himself.
How could Chu Fan not be enraged that such a profligate scion was eyeing his wife with predatory intent?
The voices outside naturally woke Yun Xi as well.
Or perhaps, knowing something was bound to happen tonight, Yun Xi hadn’t been sleeping deeply in the first place.
Seething with uncontrollable rage, Chu Fan stood up. He first reassured Yun Xi, "I’m going to deal with this little problem. You just rest easy and don’t worry."
Just then, the Shopkeeper’s voice rang out from the courtyard.
"My Lord Heir, My Lord Heir! I don’t know who has offended you, but I hope Your Highness can be merciful."
"Mercy, my ass! I’m the one who’s been wronged! Are you trying to get in my way too?"
"My Lord Heir, it’s the middle of the night and the guests are resting. There are many important figures staying in the pavilions in the rear courtyard..."
"Zuo An, get this noisy pest out of my sight."
Immediately after, the sounds of the Shopkeeper’s pleas and pained cries filled the courtyard.
Just as someone was about to kick the door in, Chu Fan pulled it open from the inside, stepped out, and shut it behind him.
He scanned the courtyard with a cold, severe gaze.
In the courtyard now stood the Heir of Liao, the other young noble who had been with him that afternoon, Zuo An, and five elderly men.
Of these five elders, four were at the Soul Emergence Realm Late Stage, and one was at the Divine Separation Realm Tier Two.
For five masters of this caliber to appear in a simple inn, their presence was already quite formidable.
"Boy, I thought you were going to hide in your shell like a coward. I didn’t expect you to have the guts to actually come out. I’m a reasonable man. Just give that woman to me, and I can forget this ever happened and let you go like you’re nothing but a fart in the wind."
Chu Fan now had a rough assessment of the Heir of Liao’s status.
’I don’t know where Prince Liao’s Mansion is, but the fact that they have to stay in an inn after coming to He Yi State City means that neither the Liao King nor this Heir of Liao holds a high position within the Hua Xu Empire’s Royal Family.’
’The Heir of Liao just has the good fortune of his birth. Judging by his actions, he’s not just a profligate scion, but a brainless one at that.’
’Killing him is out of the question. After all, his surname is Long, and he’s a member of the Royal Family. This is the heartland of the Hua Xu Empire; killing him here would lead to endless trouble.’
’He’s just an heir. Of course Chu Fan didn’t take him seriously. He’d killed a Commandery Prince of the Hua Xu Empire in a Secret Realm before, so what was a mere heir to him?’
"I hear the Crown Prince is also in the State City. Should I inform His Highness the Crown Prince of your despicable behavior?"
Chu Fan was testing the waters.
But as soon as Chu Fan finished speaking, the Heir of Liao roared, "You’ll have to be alive to see the Crown Prince! It seems you’ve got a death wish!"
"I have been patient with you until now. Have you never heard that there are always heavens beyond the heavens, my Lord Heir? Do you really think these old codgers can do anything to me?"
"How arrogant!" the young man beside the Heir of Liao sneered.
By now, windows in many of the surrounding guest rooms had opened, with people standing by to watch the commotion.
Chu Fan raised his voice for all to hear, "I am a humble commoner, merely passing through. I have never once offended him. He is the one who has relentlessly harassed me and even tried to seize my wife, yet you call me arrogant? Fine! Today, I’ll show you what true arrogance looks like!"
SHING!
Chu Fan drew his Juntian Sword and lunged, thrusting it at the nearest elder—the one at Divine Separation Realm Tier Two.
"Awakening Dream Clarity Like Sun and Stars!"
This was none other than the Third Technique of the Dream-Breaking Meteor Sword. To truly shock them, he had to use his most thunderous method, his most brilliant Sword Technique.
With this one strike, he made no effort to hide his Sword Intent, instead allowing the Sword Gang to blaze with dazzling light.
The technique was faster than a shooting star. Its Sword Aura flared like a brilliant sun, turning the pitch-black night into day.
The elder hastily drew his weapon, but he had only just raised his Long Sword to parry.
A sharp CLANG! was followed by the elder’s scream.
A spray of blood erupted from the elder’s chest.
The force of the blow sent him stumbling back dozens of steps, his retreat only halted when he slammed into an osmanthus tree behind him.
Before anyone else could even react, the elder at Divine Separation Realm Tier Two had been defeated.
But Chu Fan didn’t stop. His next strike enveloped the other four Soul Emergence Realm elders within his Sword Intent.
"Windwalker Two Dragons Playing with the Pearl!"
This was the second technique of the Walking Dragon Sword Shadow.
In the dead of night, two Dragon Shadows soared forth, engulfing the four men.
The four men also drew their swords in a panic.
They brandished their Swords continuously, and from within the Dragon Shadows, only a series of metallic CLANGS could be heard.
In truth, the four of them had yet to recover from the shock of Chu Fan’s dazzling previous strike.
After all, if an expert at Divine Separation Realm Tier Two couldn’t even withstand a single move from Chu Fan’s Sword, what chance did four at the Soul Emergence Realm have?
They had already lost all confidence, hoping only to suffer lighter injuries. Thus, they brandished their Swords merely for defense.
However, with a flick of Chu Fan’s wrist and a sudden dash forward, the two Dragon Shadows abruptly surged with power.
The four men were sent flying backward by the impact of the Dragon Shadows. As they screamed, sprays of blood rained down.
Chu Fan withdrew his sword, and the Dragon Shadows vanished.
Gasps of astonishment erupted from the onlookers.
Two strikes. It took only two strikes to heavily injure one Divine Separation Realm master and four Soul Emergence Realm masters. The power of those two strikes was what truly astounded everyone.
"What was that Sword Technique? Which Sect does it belong to?"
"Forget the Sword Technique! Didn’t you see how young he is? Is he even thirty? To be at the Divine Separation Realm before thirty... which Sect or Noble Family could produce such a monster?"
"It seems the Heir of Liao picked a fight with the wrong person this time. If the Crown Prince learns of this young man, I’m sure his appreciation for talent would move him to recruit him."
No one bothered to lower their voices, so both Chu Fan and the Heir of Liao heard every word clearly.
The Heir of Liao’s face turned livid.
"My Lord Heir, it seems your men are nothing special. You are a disciple of the Hua Xu Royal Family, so I will not kill you. I also held back against your subordinates, merely teaching them a lesson. But if you continue to pester me, next time, I will not hesitate to kill."
"Brat, do you dare state your name and Sect?" the Heir of Liao growled through clenched teeth.
"Chu Fan," he replied. "I belong to no sect or school. I’m just an Independent Cultivator."
"Fine! You, Chu... just you wait!"
The Heir of Liao couldn’t leave without a final threat. He then glared at the five injured elders and snapped, "A bunch of useless trash! What are you waiting for? Get moving!"
Amid the derisive laughter of the onlookers, the Heir of Liao shot one last, vicious glare at Chu Fan before leading his men away from the inn.
Though Chu Fan had only made two strikes, the rear courtyard was left in complete disarray.
As Chu Fan had said from the start, that one gold ingot would be no bargain for the Shopkeeper.
Seeing how easily Chu Fan had driven off the Heir of Liao and his entourage, the Shopkeeper no longer dared to ask him for compensation.
He only regretted ever letting Chu Fan stay at the inn.
Chu Fan cupped his hands in a salute to the onlookers in the windows above. He turned to go back to his room, but had barely taken a step when someone from a pavilion above called out to him.
"Young Friend Chu, if you wouldn’t mind, why don’t you come up and have a few drinks with this old man?"
