Chapter 227: Chapter 227: A Saint Cannot Be Humiliated

After leaving the tailor shop and catching up to Leng Yingxue, Chu Fan took a ring off his finger and held it out.

"You should use this ring. It’s inconvenient to travel without one."

Leng Yingxue looked at the Storage Ring held out before her, and the bone-chilling coldness in her eyes finally subsided.

"If you give it to me, what will you use?"

"I have another one."

"I will return it to you when I get back to Piaoxue Palace." Leng Yingxue didn’t refuse. She took the ring and put it directly on her index finger.

Finding the ring too large, she slipped it onto her thumb instead.

Her hands were like works of art carved by the Celestial Dao itself. Not only were they as fair and tender as mutton-fat jade, but her fingers were also slender and perfectly proportioned.

When Chu Fan saw her wear the ring on her thumb, he thought it looked out of place and frowned. However, he didn’t dare say anything negative. Instead, he said, "It’s just a ring. Why bother returning it?"

Leng Yingxue didn’t answer, simply walking forward in silence.

Her expression remained as frigid as ever, and Chu Fan couldn’t guess what she was thinking.

After walking for a while, the aroma of roasting meat wafted over, and Chu Fan couldn’t help but swallow.

"I’m hungry."

’Hungry?’ When Chu Fan heard this, he nearly stumbled.

’My lady, you’re a Super Grandmaster in the Saint Realm,’ he grumbled to himself. ’You’re long past the Grain Avoidance Realm, and you’re telling me you’re hungry?’

Forget the Saint Realm; even he, at the Divine Separation Realm, wouldn’t die from not eating or drinking. Once a cultivator’s Cultivation reached the Soul Emergence Realm, they only needed to absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi. Eating was merely to satisfy one’s cravings, not a necessity for survival.

The only reason he had swallowed just now was that the savory aroma had made his mouth water.

He never expected this ice-cold woman to have such a proud and petulant side. Chu Fan found it a bit hard to accept.

He watched as she walked straight into a restaurant by the side of the road.

It was currently mealtime. The moment she entered the restaurant, she attracted countless gazes. Some were merely curious, but many turned aggressive upon seeing her figure.

Leng Yingxue walked to an empty table and sat down, stroking the White Fox in her arms. When Chu Fan reached her, she said coldly, "Anyone who is still staring at me... I do not wish for their eyes to ever see anything again."

"Uh, my lady, is that really necessary? They only glanced at you," Chu Fan said, startled by her words.

BANG! Not far away, a middle-aged man with a thick beard slammed his chopsticks hard on the table and shot to his feet.

"You damn bitch, what’s wrong with me looking at you? Are you too good to be looked at?"

Leng Yingxue didn’t spare him a glance, instead saying to Chu Fan in an even colder voice, "If I were to act, it wouldn’t be as simple as just blinding him."

Chu Fan sighed. "Why ask for trouble?"

He was actually speaking to the bearded man. After he finished, he pointed a finger. The chopsticks the man had slammed on the table immediately flew up and stabbed into his eyes.

The bearded man let out a bloodcurdling scream, like a pig being slaughtered.

The other four men at the bearded man’s table all stood up, drew their blades, and charged at Chu Fan.

"Stop! Stop!" A waiter hurried forward to intervene.

"Didn’t you see this bastard blind my brother?" one of the middle-aged men roared at the waiter.

"Gentlemen, if you have a dispute, you can either take it outside to settle it yourselves or report it to the authorities. This restaurant is not a place for you to run wild."

"Do you dare to come outside?" The middle-aged man, likely knowing he couldn’t afford to offend the restaurant, turned and roared viciously at Chu Fan instead.

Chu Fan sighed again. Then, with a light tap of his feet, his body twisted and moved, and he struck out with several palm attacks.

Chu Fan forced all four men back into their seats. They struggled until their faces turned red, but they couldn’t move an inch.

"Is that enough?" Chu Fan asked Leng Yingxue.

"I said I don’t want the eyes of those dozen or so people to see anything again. Did you not understand me?"

"My lady, they only glanced at you. Is this really necessary?"

However, before the words had even left Chu Fan’s mouth, a jet of blood shot out from between the eyebrows of the dozen or so men who had been staring at Leng Yingxue.

They died without even letting out a final scream.

The other patrons only saw a white shadow flash past. They had no idea what had happened before the dozen or so men were dead.

The waiter froze, looking as if he had seen a ghost.

"A Saint must not be humiliated!"

Only Chu Fan could hear those six words, which served as Leng Yingxue’s explanation to him.

’That’s just too tyrannical!’

Only then did Chu Fan realize that Leng Yingxue had actually been holding back a great deal during their time together.

The reality was, she was even more tyrannical than he had imagined.

Then again, perhaps those men did deserve to die. Chu Fan could roughly guess at the filthy thoughts behind their gazes.

If he and Leng Yingxue hadn’t possessed absolute strength, those men might have targeted them the moment they left the restaurant.

"I’m hungry!"

Leng Yingxue repeated.

"Waiter!" Chu Fan hurriedly called out.

’I can’t afford to offend this lady. If she decides to kill again, no one will be able to stop her.’

"Sir!"

Chu Fan’s shout snapped the waiter out of his stupor, but the sight of the corpses filled him with immense terror.

Just then, an old Shopkeeper hurried over.

"Sir, it’s too chaotic down here. Would you perhaps prefer to dine in a private room in the rear courtyard?"

Clearly, the old Shopkeeper had also witnessed Leng Yingxue act and knew they were not to be offended.

Chu Fan glanced at Leng Yingxue, but she showed no intention of moving.

"Shopkeeper, no need to trouble yourself. Right here is fine. Just bring us all of your house specialties."

"Ah?" The old Shopkeeper didn’t react at first, then hurriedly said, "Yes, yes! I’ll go arrange it right away. Please wait a moment, sir."

From start to finish, he didn’t dare to even glance at Leng Yingxue.

The dozen or so remaining customers in the restaurant sat frozen in their seats, trembling with fear, unsure whether to leave or stay.

"Sit!"

Leng Yingxue said.

"Oh!"

A single phrase, "A Saint must not be humiliated," and over a dozen lives were snuffed out on the spot.

Chu Fan asked himself: if time were to rewind by half an incense stick, would he have obediently blinded those men?

After long consideration, he concluded that he still wouldn’t have done it. Even knowing that Leng Yingxue would kill them, he still wouldn’t have acted.

It wasn’t that he was afraid, of course, but because of Cause and Effect.

A Saint must not be humiliated, so the Saint acted.

He was not a Saint, nor had he established any formal relationship with Leng Yingxue. This was not his Cause and Effect to bear.

As for why he thought this way, or why it involved Cause and Effect, Chu Fan himself didn’t know the reason.

If those men had done something more out of line or said something provocative, perhaps Chu Fan would have acted. But just for their "unclean" gazes, he couldn’t bring himself to be so ruthless.

"Do you think I’m bloodthirsty?"

Chu Fan shook his head.

"They all deserved to die. If they had encountered someone other than me today, what do you think they would have done? There was nothing but filth in their eyes."

Chu Fan seemed to have an epiphany.

At that moment, the Shopkeeper personally brought their dishes, his hands trembling uncontrollably as he set down the plates.

Chu Fan picked up his chopsticks, though in truth, he had already lost his appetite.

Leng Yingxue glanced at him and gave a faint smile.

That one smile was enough to chase away the gloom in Chu Fan’s heart, leaving behind a clear, sunny sky.

That smile made Chu Fan’s heart tremble.

’So her smile is this beautiful.’

Even though she wore a veil, her eyes seemed capable of capturing one’s very soul.

But in the next moment, the smile was replaced by her usual icy coldness.

"Eat faster!"

"Ah? Oh!" Chu Fan snapped back to reality and picked up his chopsticks. After wolfing down a few mouthfuls, he realized Leng Yingxue was still holding the White Fox, with no intention of picking up her own chopsticks.

"You’re not eating?"

Leng Yingxue shook her head.
