Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Fighting a Stage 8 Divine Separation Realm

Actually, Chu Fan was someone who hated trouble. With his name appearing at the thirty-sixth spot on the Talent List, there would definitely be many who were unconvinced.

Although he didn’t have the slightest interest in his name being on such lists, it wasn’t up to him whether he was on it or not.

As the saying goes, among scholars there is no first, and among warriors there is no second. As Cultivators, the vast majority cared deeply about every single shift in the rankings on those lists.

The dense sea of heads crowding the street today was a clear indication that there was definitely more than one person who wanted to challenge him over the Talent List.

There were still many who hadn’t arrived, and he was bound to run into them later.

So, he decided to use an overwhelmingly powerful display to thoroughly intimidate them.

That was why he had poured almost everything into that single sword strike, including all his True Qi and his comprehension of the Sword Dao.

"Brother Su, thank you for the match."

Chu Fan said with a faint smile.

At that moment, Su Mingguang’s face was beet red—half from shame, and the other half from sheer terror.

Su Mingguang took a step back, putting some distance between the point of Chu Fan’s sword and his own brow. He cupped his fist at Chu Fan, said nothing, then turned and flew away.

Of course, Chu Fan knew the show couldn’t be over just like that. But while the people below were still dazed with astonishment, he pretended to turn and leave.

"Wait!"

As expected, another voice stopped him.

"Yan Chenghe of the Great Fan Palace. I request a match!"

As Chu Fan turned, he was utterly astonished to hear that name.

’This Yan Chenghe is fifty-seven years old and ranked twentieth on the Talent List. Why is he challenging me?’

’Is he just looking for attention?’

’No, that can’t be it. Every person on the Talent List has their pride.’

’Someone ranked higher bullying someone ranked lower?’

"I surrender!" Chu Fan said, deciding to just throw in the towel.

"Chu Fan, are you looking down on me?" Yan Chenghe roared in anger.

"Brother Yan, you’re ranked twentieth on the Talent List. I don’t even know how I got on the list myself, but I heard I’m only thirty-sixth. It makes sense for Brother Su to challenge me, but if you do it, isn’t that a case of the strong bullying the weak?"

"What thirty-sixth? The Talent List was updated this morning. You’re already ranked eleventh! I happened to be staying in this town last night, and when I heard the list had been re-released this morning, I naturally had to come and seek a match."

Chu Fan was stunned. ’Isn’t Heroic Journey’s reaction a bit too fast?’

’I only came out of the mountains yesterday and had one fight outside town, and they’ve already updated the list?’

’But isn’t eleventh place a bit of an exaggeration?’

’Yesterday, I only killed two at Divine Separation Realm Tier Six. Aren’t all of the top twenty on the Talent List at Divine Separation Realm Tier Eight or higher?’

’This Yan Chenghe right in front of me is a solid Divine Separation Realm Tier Eight!’

’Besides, He Lingyi, who used to be ranked eleventh, is at the Divinity Separation Realm Peak—just one step away from the Integration Realm.’

’If I don’t use my Divine Techniques, can I even beat He Lingyi?’

’What a load of crap.’

’The last time I used the Divine Techniques of the Juntian Mirror was to wipe out that Second-class Sect in the Eastern Domain, and that was three years ago.’

’So there’s no way the Heroic Journey organization could know I have Divine Techniques.’

’Then why is my name ranked eleventh?’

A flash of realization struck Chu Fan.

’This is an open conspiracy!’

’I’ve been set up.’

’But who is the person behind this?’

This battle was now unavoidable. His current Cultivation was Divine Separation Realm Tier Four. Relying on the self-contained world in his Dantian, along with his Primordial Spirit and the lotus flower, even Chu Fan himself didn’t know how many tiers he could fight above his own Realm.

Killing the two Divine Separation Realm Tier Six cultivators yesterday hadn’t been very difficult.

But since Yan Chenghe was in the top twenty of the Talent List, he surely had many techniques at his disposal. If other cultivators at Divine Separation Realm Tier Eight fought him, they likely wouldn’t be his match.

He quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind. ’If I lose to Yan Chenghe, will the others in the top twenty leave me alone?’

’But on second thought, if I really do lose to Yan Chenghe, the top twenty might leave me alone, but what about the top thirty and forty?’

’Will they think I’m just a fraud, unworthy of my reputation?’

’And if I, ranked eleventh, lose to someone ranked twentieth, won’t I be endlessly ridiculed?’

’Forget it. I’ll just leave it to fate.’

’This is a good opportunity to test what level of opponent my current Realm can handle without being at a disadvantage.’

"Brother Yan, this place is too small and there are too many people below. How about we fight outside the city?" Chu Fan said humbly.

Yan Chenghe glanced at the street teeming with people below, nodded, and was the first to fly toward the outskirts of the city.

Chu Fan followed close behind.

He had, of course, considered that his departure might prompt someone to make a move against the White Fox. However, the one beside the White Fox now was not the previously sick Yun Xi, but Leng Yingxue of the Saint Realm.

’If someone really wants to court disaster, I’d actually be happy to see it happen!’

’How else would Leng Yingxue be convinced to act?’

As the two left, countless figures on the street shot into the sky, chasing after them.

Out in the open wilderness, Chu Fan stood with the Juntian Sword in his right hand, his left hand clasped behind his back.

Yan Chenghe stood thirty zhang away from him, the tip of his four-foot Long Sword pointed at the ground.

A hundred zhang away, hundreds of onlookers craned their necks in anticipation.

A Divine Separation Realm Tier Eight. Just by standing there, the aura Yan Chenghe emitted was several times more powerful than that of a Divine Separation Realm Tier Six cultivator.

"Make your move," Yan Chenghe said coolly to Chu Fan.

"Very well!"

Chu Fan didn’t stand on ceremony. He shot into the sky, his Long Sword blooming like a flower with a flick of his wrist.

"Awakening Dream Clarity Like Sun and Stars!"

In mid-air, continuously brandishing his Long Sword, Chu Fan was wreathed in a dazzling light, appearing like a second sun.

The onlookers, especially those with lower Cultivation, couldn’t help but squint, their eyes clearly dazzled by the sudden brilliance.

Even so, an immense pressure, like a great mountain crashing down, bore down on everything below.

A flash of surprise flickered in Yan Chenghe’s eyes before he brandished his Long Sword and charged forward to meet the attack.

BOOM!

The two Sword Auras collided, unleashing an earth-shattering roar.

A ripple of True Qi spread out rapidly.

Those whose Cultivation had not yet reached the Divine Separation Realm saw this and immediately turned tail and fled. Even those at or above the Divine Separation Realm couldn’t help but retreat several zhang.

The power of that clash was simply too immense.

That a single, all-out sword strike from two cultivators in the middle and Late Stages of the Divine Separation Realm could create such a spectacle was astounding.

The ripple of True Qi spread for over a hundred zhang before dissipating into nothing. Within that radius, directly below the point of impact, a deep crater five to six zhang in diameter had formed on the ground.

High in the sky, the two combatants separated the instant they clashed, once again standing more than thirty zhang apart.

Both stared at each other in utter shock.

They both knew that even though their previous strike had been a probe, it had been immensely powerful.

Yet their opponent was completely unharmed.

"You are worthy of being my opponent," Yan Chenghe stated indifferently.

"You’re not so bad yourself," Chu Fan complimented in return.

"Again!"

Yan Chenghe brandished his sword and shot toward Chu Fan.

Countless Sword Auras, like streams of vibrant silk, swept toward Chu Fan, carrying an incomparably sharp and piercing intent.

It was as if a mountain was crashing down upon him.

’The top twenty on the Talent List truly live up to their reputation.’

Chu Fan’s heart trembled. ’The prodigies of the Central Domain are on a completely different level from those in the Eastern Domain.’

"Against the Wind: Leaderless Dragons!"

Chu Fan charged forward to meet the attack. As his Juntian Sword flipped and turned, countless streams of Sword Qi and Sword Aura formed a colossal dragon that crashed directly into the layered curtain of Sword Auras.
