Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Developing in the Foreseen Direction

Yan Ji left the Lü Family estate early in the morning with Lü Yunxiu and four guards.

Having obtained Lü Yunxiu’s Primordial Yin the previous night, his Cultivation had increased, and he felt refreshed and invigorated. Although he had been with countless women, few possessed beauty on par with Lü Yunxiu’s. He especially savored how she was demure in public but wanton in private.

It left Yan Ji completely captivated.

After a harmonious night, Lü Yunxiu had also benefited greatly.

Yan Ji hadn’t treated her like an ordinary woman, merely taking from her. While taking, he had also used the Dao of Yin Yang Harmony to give a considerable amount back to her.

As a result, when Lü Yunxiu woke up that morning, it was as if she had undergone a Purification of Essence and Marrow. Her skin was as smooth as fine cream, and her body felt much lighter.

This made Lü Yunxiu feel a greater sense of dependence on Yan Ji.

Even when she saw her childhood sweetheart, Chen Qi’an, approaching, not only did she not release her tight grip on Yan Ji’s arm, but she actually held on even tighter.

When Yan Ji learned that the man in the brocade robe walking toward them was Lü Yunxiu’s original fiancé, his gaze became provocative.

"You’re Chen Qi’an?" Yan Ji asked contemptuously.

Chen Qi’an’s eyes burned with fire as he watched Lü Yunxiu’s coquettish display.

He ignored Yan Ji, staring at Lü Yunxiu with resentment. "This is your choice?" he asked.

Lü Yunxiu met his gaze without flinching, her eyes devoid of any shyness or guilt.

She turned to give Yan Ji a loving glance, then said to Chen Qi’an, "Only after meeting Yan Lang did I realize what kind of life I should be living. Qi’an, being with you before was simply due to my own shortsightedness. Now that a vast sky is open for me to soar in, why would I struggle and writhe in this tiny pond?"

"You..." Hearing her words, Chen Qi’an felt a sweet, coppery taste rise in his throat. He suppressed his rage, swallowing back the surging rush of blood.

"So this is the Champion Scholar. Not so impressive, in my opinion," Yan Ji spoke again with contempt.

Chen Qi’an shot him a vicious glare but still ignored him. Gritting his teeth, he took a deep breath and said to Lü Yunxiu, "You will regret the choice you made today."

With that, he turned to leave.

But his glare and his words had thoroughly offended Yan Ji.

Yan Ji simply tilted his chin, and the four guards behind him moved to block Chen Qi’an and Chu Fan’s path.

"Brat, you don’t look very convinced, do you? You think Yunxiu will regret this? You’ve known her for so long, but do you have any idea what she was like last night when she was in a room with me?"

As he spoke, Yan Ji provocatively reached out and groped Lü Yunxiu’s chest.

Lü Yunxiu shot him a look of feigned anger. "Yan Lang, you’re awful!"

To Chen Qi’an, her scalp-numbing, whiny voice was a taunt and a humiliation that sent rage surging through his heart.

’The woman I once loved... to see her treated like this right in front of me, and for her to act so shamelessly... As a man, how could I not feel hatred?’

"Get out of my way!" Chen Qi’an roared at the men blocking his path.

"You want to leave? First, kneel and apologize to Yunxiu!"

"In your dreams!" The scholar in Chen Qi’an was showing his stubborn streak.

"It seems the Champion Scholar doesn’t understand the situation. Let alone a mere Champion Scholar, even if you were the Crown Prince of the Celestial Qi Kingdom, you’d have to tuck your tail between your legs in front of me. I’ll give you two choices: kneel, or—die!"

From the very beginning, Chu Fan had stood beside Chen Qi’an, holding a Long Sword, and had not uttered a single word.

’I have to say,’ he thought, ’this has given me a new understanding of the Red Blood Mansion’s methods.’

At this moment, Chen Qi’an was in an impossible situation. He had lost all face, yet he was powerless, for his opponents were Cultivators.

Just as he was feeling anxious, his gaze fell upon Chu Fan beside him.

His earlier rage had made him forget about this "Fan Chu." Now, a plan formed in his mind, and he said, "Guard Fan, His Majesty sent you to protect me. Are you planning to defy His Majesty’s decree?"

Hearing this, Chu Fan chuckled to himself. ’This kid is really putting on a show.’

’A show is a show, but his words have also made his choice clear.’

Chu Fan took two steps forward and said to the four guards, "Step aside. Otherwise, don’t blame my sword for not having eyes."

Chu Fan’s threat made the six people opposite him react as if they had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

"Brat, are you threatening me? You’re just a guard. You think you’re invincible?" one of the guards sneered.

Chu Fan put on an air of nonchalance. "Invincible? Of course not. But as for the likes of you..."

He trailed off, shaking his head with utter disdain.

His expression enraged Yan Ji’s guards. The one directly facing him clenched his fist and threw a punch at Chu Fan.

Yan Ji, with his arm around Lü Yunxiu’s slender waist, watched with leisurely amusement.

The other three guards also wore expressions of pure contempt. After all, in their eyes, Chu Fan was merely a worldly Warrior. He didn’t have the slightest trace of True Qi. What was the difference between him and an ant?

Chen Qi’an was a little nervous.

In the distance, a few onlookers had stopped to watch the commotion.

Chu Fan simply spun lightly to evade the punch. Then, with a flip of his still-sheathed sword, he struck the guard on the wrist.

The guard cried out as if he had been electrocuted, stumbling back several steps and staring at Chu Fan in disbelief.

"Brat, you’re courting death!" Once the guard recovered, he drew his sword and charged again.

Before, his eyes held only contempt and disdain; now, they were filled with killing intent.

Chu Fan still didn’t draw his weapon. Using his sword within its scabbard, he moved with nimble grace, easily parrying the guard’s Sword Techniques.

"A Cultivator? Is that all you’ve got?"

After a few exchanges, Chu Fan relied solely on his Sword Dao to counter the enemy, not using any of the True Qi in his body. Even so, he had already completely suppressed his opponent.

Seeing this, Yan Ji’s expression finally changed. "All of you, attack together! Take him down quickly!"

Upon hearing the command, the other three guards decisively drew their swords.

These four guards were all at the Heartbeat Realm Late Stage of Cultivation. Even with the four of them joining forces, Chu Fan was not intimidated.

Although his current Cultivation at Tier Nineteen of the Lotus-Birth Realm was roughly equivalent to the Heartbeat Realm Late Stage, the True Qi Liquid his Dantian could accumulate was dozens of times more potent than that of an ordinary Heartbeat Realm cultivator.

Forget the Heartbeat Realm; he would even dare to clash with a Cultivator at the Golden Core Realm Early Stage.

Furthermore, his true trump cards were the first two forms of the Dream-Breaking Meteor Sword he had just learned, as well as the Lion Seal Divine Technique.

Seeing the four men attack, Chu Fan flicked his wrist. The scabbard of the Long Sword in his hand shot out, flying ferociously toward one of them.

The man swung his sword frantically but still failed to block the scabbard’s fierce assault. It struck him in the chest, sending him staggering back several steps.

After launching the scabbard, Chu Fan didn’t pause. His Long Sword drew an arc like a rainbow, and countless streams of Sword Qi shot toward the other three men like sharp arrows.

The three men were instantly thrown into a panicked flurry.

Chu Fan moved with blinding speed, his Long Sword weaving like a needle doing embroidery. In the blink of an eye, he left a series of bloody wounds on all four men.

The four men stared at him in terror.

Yan Ji’s expression was also one of astonishment.

Chu Fan sheathed his sword, his gaze falling on Yan Ji. "Can we go now?" he asked.

Although Yan Ji’s eyes burned with fury, knowing he was outmatched, he could only swallow his anger for the time being.

Seeing this, Chu Fan left with Chen Qi’an.

Only after Chu Fan and his companion were far away did Yan Ji roar in anger, "You’ve completely disgraced me!"

The four men clutched their swords, their heads bowed, not daring to retort.

"Investigate that man’s background. This matter isn’t over."
