Chapter 336: Little Princess of the Lindi Clan
The group consisted of forty-five people, each riding a Wind Chasing Beast. Princess Li Haiqin was in the center, surrounded by eight female guards, while thirty-six robust men formed the outer ring.
Even though the main roads of the Outer City were crowded with pedestrians, they galloped past like a flash of lightning.
Anyone in their path heard the thundering hooves from afar and scrambled to get out of the way. No one dared to utter a single word of complaint.
Chu Fan followed them, taking care not to be noticed.
At the border between the Inner and Outer Cities, the group came to a halt, dismounting from their Wind Chasing Beasts.
As one would expect, the search and inspection to enter the Inner City was extremely strict. Not even the direct lineage of the Golden Clan was exempt.
At that very moment, Chu Fan, who was hidden in the shadows, transformed himself to look like the last of the robust guards. Not having the same clothes, he changed his Celestial Dragon Armor into the likeness of the man’s fur-lined jacket.
Then, with a quick teleport, he appeared beside the man and, with a wave of his hand, tossed him into the Jun Tianjian World.
He then took the robust guard’s place.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. Even the onlookers who saw a figure flash by were led to believe their eyes were playing tricks on them by the calm that immediately followed.
“Huo Er, what was that just now? Why did the back of my head suddenly feel cold?” the guard standing in front of Chu Fan asked, turning around.
Chu Fan put on a confused expression and looked around blankly before replying in the Dahar Khan Language, “What do you mean, the back of your head felt cold?”
“Oh, it’s nothing,” the guard said, turning back around.
The city guards inspected everyone in the group one by one, and Chu Fan passed through into the Inner City without a hitch.
The Inner City of Ukolok was noticeably cleaner and tidier than the Outer City.
The streets and alleys formed a neat, orderly grid, and the brick-and-stone houses were all more or less the same style.
The people on the Inner City streets were also clearly much more richly dressed than those in the Outer City.
Moreover, after entering the Inner City, their group could only lead their mounts by the reins and proceed on foot.
Chu Fan followed at the very back of the group, heading toward the center of the Inner City.
Contrary to what Chu Fan had expected, their destination was not the Palace City of the Dahar Khan Kingdom. After several turns, they arrived in front of a massive courtyard estate.
At the courtyard gate, someone took charge of their Wind Chasing Beasts, and Chu Fan followed the group inside.
However, once in the outer courtyard, a steward led them to a side courtyard to settle in, while Princess Li Haiqin and her eight female attendants were guided toward the inner courtyard by an old servant.
After the thirty-six men entered the side courtyard, they all relaxed, some plopping right down on the ground.
Among this group were twenty-nine at the Golden Core Realm, four at the Nascent Soul Realm, and two at the Soul Emergence Realm.
To the current Chu Fan, these people were no different from ants. Still, for a clan’s Little Princess to have such an escort was already quite an impressive sight.
Two men came up to Chu Fan and pulled him down to sit on a nearby flower bed.
“Huo Er, this is your second time coming to Ukolok City with Princess Li Haiqin. Do you know any good places to have fun around here?”
The two of them whispered to Chu Fan, their voices hushed and lecherous.
“I know, of course I know. But did you bring enough silver taels?” Chu Fan had no idea what fun places they were talking about. He was just playing along, feigning expertise based on their expressions.
“Huo Er, why has your voice changed?” the other man asked, finding it a bit strange.
“I’m exhausted,” Chu Fan said.
“That makes sense. We’ve been riding nonstop, only able to snatch a nap on the backs of our Wind Chasing Beasts. We’ve been on the road for over ten days straight, terrified that the Great Young Master’s pursuers would catch up. We’re mentally drained and physically exhausted.”
‘Just a few sentences revealed so much information. Wind Chasing Beasts can travel day and night, covering ten thousand li in a single day. Doesn’t that mean the Lindi Clan’s territory is at least a hundred thousand li away from here?’
‘The Great Young Master… that must be the Lindi Clan’s Great Young Master. But why would he send men after them?’
‘And what is the relationship between this Great Young Master and the Little Princess?’
“Tomorrow night, don’t go to sleep. Get your silver taels ready, and I’ll take you to a fun place to have the time of your lives,” Chu Fan said, also speaking cautiously.
He spoke very slowly, watching their reactions after every sentence.
“I’ve heard for a while now that there’s a brothel in the Ukolok Inner City run by Central Domain People! I also heard that it has women from all over the world—tall and strong ones, petite ones… they say there’s nothing you can’t find there, only things you can’t imagine! Huo Er, is that the brothel you’re taking us to, the one run by the Central Domain People?”
“Ghazi, look at you! The moment women are mentioned, you get all excited. The old Clan Leader taught us to remain calm in all situations. Calm, you understand?”
“Kemoqi, you’re one to talk! Have you forgotten why the Great Young Master punished you last month?”
Chu Fan listened to them bicker, putting on a simple-minded grin and not interrupting.
Ghazi suddenly sighed and said, “We’ve really gone and offended the Great Young Master this time. I just hope the old Clan Leader takes pity on Princess Li Haiqin and rejects the Great Young Master’s idea to marry her off to the Hanmo Clan. Otherwise, the dozens of us will definitely be sent to the mines to do hard labor.”
“Ghazi, that’s not for us to worry about,” Kemoqi said. “We are Princess Li Haiqin’s guards. No matter what happens, we must obey her commands.”
Chu Fan hadn’t expected to figure out the purpose of Princess Li Haiqin’s visit to Ukolok so easily.
‘This is my chance! A chance to get two Profound Iron Orders at once. I need to find an opportunity to get close to the Little Princess. If I can win her trust, that would be even better.’
Chu Fan thought to himself.
He then chimed in, “The old Clan Leader adores the Little Princess. He would never allow the Great Young Master to marry her off to the Hanmo Clan.”
“Right, Huo Er is right! Ghazi, you don’t need to worry at all. There’s no way we’ll be sent to the mines,” Kemoqi said in agreement.
Chu Fan continued to chat idly with them. Under his deliberate guidance, he quickly got a general understanding of most of the people in the Guard Team.
The next day, Chu Fan actually took the two men to a brothel. As for how he found the location of the brothel run by Central Domain People that they had mentioned, Chu Fan naturally had his ways.
In any case, that night, Ghazi and Kemoqi had so much fun they didn’t want to leave.
The brothels in the Northern Domain were much more direct than those in the Central Domain’s Jianye City. To call it a brothel was generous; it was really just a whorehouse.
Of course, Chu Fan wasn’t some desperate lecher who’d jump at anything; he had no interest in these women whatsoever.
After that night, the two men grew even closer to Chu Fan, and he managed to worm more information out of them.
However, they were ultimately just guards, so they didn’t have much truly useful information.
For the next several days, aside from no longer accompanying them to the brothel at night, Chu Fan spent his time hanging out with them. When these guards had nothing better to do, they also liked to gamble.
Because Chu Fan was intentionally losing all the time, he quickly managed to blend in with the group.
His only regret was that since the day Li Haiqin had entered the inner courtyard, she hadn’t come out again, leaving Chu Fan with no opportunity to get close to her.
This continued until one day, half a month later, when a young man with nine braids came knocking at the gate. Chu Fan’s opportunity had finally arrived…
