Chapter 354: Yilode Teaches His Son a Lesson
Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Yilode Teaches His Son a Lesson
Li Haiqin’s father was Yilode’s third legitimate son and lived in a courtyard residence not far west of the main estate.
The descendants of the Lindi Clan generally moved out of the main estate after marrying.
Li Haiqin’s father was, of course, no exception.
Upon arriving at Li Haiqin’s home, Chu Fan received her parents’ gratitude and gifts.
Although he had only been fulfilling his duty as a Guard, he had, after all, saved Li Haiqin.
The few people from Kemoqi who had returned earlier had already explained what had happened to Li Haiqin’s parents.
Li Haiqin’s parents also arranged new living quarters for Chu Fan: a small side courtyard next to the one Li Haiqin lived in.
There were only three rooms in the courtyard, but the yard in front was quite large—plenty of space for Chu Fan to practice his Martial Techniques.
Since he was injured, they didn’t exchange too many pleasantries, and Chu Fan was led to the courtyard.
Sitting quietly on a wicker chair in the courtyard, Chu Fan took out the Blood Lotus Pill that Yilode had given him.
It was actually a Fifth Transformation Elixir. He had to admit, the Golden Clan’s foundation was truly profound.
Opening the Jade Bottle, he could smell a delicate fragrance so elegant that it stirred his very soul.
It was a blood-red, translucent elixir with strange patterns on its surface.
Without a second thought, Chu Fan swallowed the Blood Lotus Pill.
An incredibly profound power exploded within his body, and he immediately sensed his Spiritual Power rapidly climbing.
’This Blood Lotus Pill can actually nourish Soul Power.’
Chu Fan’s eyes lit up. He stood up from the wicker chair, sat cross-legged on the ground, and closed his eyes to refine the elixir’s medicinal effects.
This process lasted for more than a full hour.
However, the gains from that hour were astonishing.
After one’s Spiritual Power reached Level 30, raising it by even a single level was incredibly difficult.
Yet this one elixir had raised his Spiritual Power by a whole level.
It had raised him from Level 36 to Level 37, and he was now just half a level away from reaching Level 38.
’If I could get my hands on a few more Blood Lotus Pills, wouldn’t I be able to raise my Spiritual Power to Level 40 and undo the seal on the Juntian Mirror’s Fourth Floor in no time?’
Of course, that was just wishful thinking.
How could a Fifth Transformation Elixir possibly be as common as cabbage?
According to Yilode, even he, the Patriarch of a Golden Clan, had only managed to collect a single one.
His Spiritual Power having risen by a tier, Chu Fan simply remained seated on the ground, continuing his Meditation on the Yin Yang Diagram from the Scroll while waiting for night to fall.
Originally, he had planned to advance his scheme step by step, acquiring the Profound Iron Orders one by one.
But having deduced half a month ago that his parents were still suffering, a sense of urgency had taken root in his heart.
’The more time I waste, the longer my parents will have to suffer.’
He decided to investigate the Profound Iron Order’s location that very night. If he had a chance to obtain it using the trump cards at his disposal, he wouldn’t linger in the Lindi Clan and would head directly to the other Golden Families.
If he couldn’t get it, he would have to reconsider his long-term plan.
He was just preparing for both possibilities.
Compared to his previous plan, this new idea was clearly far more aggressive and much riskier.
At dusk, Li Haiqin arrived with a Maid, bringing Chu Fan a spread of delicious food, and had the Maid wait on him as he ate.
After Chu Fan had eaten and drunk his fill, she had a hot bath brought for him. Li Haiqin had originally intended for the Maid to help him bathe, but Chu Fan refused.
At midnight, Chu Fan condensed a Spiritual Body. His real body then transformed into the likeness of Li Dang, changed his Celestial Dragon Armor into a set of Night Clothes, and slipped quietly out of the small courtyard.
The Profound Iron Order was, without a doubt, extremely important to the Golden Clan.
The fact that the Eight Golden Families had immediately rushed back to their clan lands from Han City after three of the families’ Profound Iron Orders were stolen was a testament to its importance.
Something so important had to be kept in an incredibly secure location, guarded with the utmost vigilance.
’So, where could this place be?’
’It must be inside the main estate. A secret chamber set up by the Patriarch?’
After a moment’s thought, Chu Fan used the Inner Binding Seal Divine Technique and turned his body invisible.
This had two advantages. First, once invisible and with his aura concealed, probably no one beneath the level of a Saint could detect him.
The second advantage was that he could hear other people’s thoughts.
If he became invisible and got close to Yilode while Yilode happened to be thinking about the Profound Iron Order, wouldn’t he be able to learn its location directly from his thoughts?
Passing through walls as he went, he moved through the Lindi Clan’s main estate as if it were deserted.
He went to Yilode’s bedroom first.
Unexpectedly, the old man was still awake despite the late hour, and there was a middle-aged man in the room with him.
From the man’s features, Chu Fan judged that he was likely the Eldest Son, Li Dang’s father.
Because he bore a strong resemblance to Li Dang.
"I’ve been away for two years. Look at the state you’ve let this family fall into!"
The Eldest Son kept his head bowed.
"You can’t even control your own sons. How could I dare pass the position of Patriarch to your line in the future? Little Haiqin just returned today, and what did that eldest son of yours do? What? Because Li Haiqin is marrying into the Hanmo Clan, Li Dang decided to show his true colors? To vent all the resentment he’s been holding in for years before she’s even married off?"
"Father, while what Li Dang said was improper, it’s not a Guard’s place to talk back. What’s more, Li Haiqin even had a Guard strike Li Dang. How is it that in your eyes, Father, Li Dang is still the one at fault?"
Yilode slammed his hand on the table and roared, "A Guard? He is the Lindi Clan’s benefactor! If it weren’t for him, Li Haiqin would have died on the Grassland! The Lindi Clan would have been unable to fulfill the marriage contract, which would have created a rift with the Hanmo Clan."
At this point, Yilode seemed to recall something else and asked, "That’s right, who gave you the authority to accept the Hanmo Clan’s marriage proposal and agree to marry Li Haiqin to Jisierk?"
"Father, at the time, the Hanmo Clan came bearing lavish gifts. They specifically requested to propose a marriage to Third Brother’s family, claiming Jisierk fell in love with Li Haiqin at first sight. You were far away in Han City. Reporting this to you would have taken half a month for a round trip at the very least, and the people from the Hanmo Clan were waiting right here. I thought I could make the decision on such a minor matter myself. Besides, an alliance between our two families brings only benefits to the Lindi Clan, no drawbacks. How could I possibly refuse?"
"You’re quite good at twisting words. Did you even ask Li Haiqin if she agreed beforehand?" Yilode said coldly.
"Marriage has always been decided by the orders of one’s parents and the words of a matchmaker. I did ask Third Brother, and he gave his approval."
Yilode pointed at his Eldest Son, so angry his beard bristled and his eyes bulged, but in the end, he didn’t say a word and lowered his hand.
"Tomorrow, you will personally take Li Dang to Third Brother’s home and have him apologize to Li Haiqin and Huo Er face-to-face. As for Li Haiqin’s marriage, the Khan King has already issued a decree. It cannot be changed. You will personally be in charge of her dowry, and it is to be fifty percent larger than the dowries of your own younger sisters."
"Father, isn’t that against the rules?"
Yilode let out a cold laugh, looking his eldest son up and down. Then, he suddenly slapped him across the face.
As his Eldest Son stared in stunned disbelief, Yilode said in a chilling voice, "First, I am your father. Second, I am the Clan Leader of the Lindi Clan, the Patriarch of this family. It seems that letting you manage the clan for a few years has made you forget your own place, has it not?"
Upon hearing this, the Eldest Son trembled as he fell to his knees. "I wouldn’t dare!"
"You wouldn’t dare? I think the truth is that you no longer have any respect for me as your father, or for me as your Clan Leader!"
